I gave it a shot at editing my bio too; so that is up there. At first
I I dropped in my full professional bio which was way too long for the

All pages have been put in place with the following exceptions :
 - Videos
 - How to get started
(both under the developer menu).

Links have been corrected on the home page. Added new whiz-bang "Features"
page. Fixed ASdocs so they weren't mangled by the CMS.

Need help with grammar check and spell checking. There is lots of new,
hand-written content on the site.

Additionally, we need to polish the content on the "What is Flex" page. The
content that is there is publish-able but it needs to be fixed eventually.

I Still need to do :
 - Finish last two pages
 - Do something about the "Who is using flex" bar.
 - Fix formatting on What is Flex page.

The list is populated with checkboxes with a reddish tint. As you check
those boxes, the button labelled "Install" in the lower right should become
enabled.

Re: Watch out for "svn switch"

2013-01-11 Thread Alex Harui
I have a new theory: sometimes when you do a 'switch' you'll see a bunch of
files get updated then it stops with some sort of message that looks like a
warning or error. If you get that, the switch stopped and not all of the
directories have been converted over. 'svn info' will show you the new URL,
but in the tracking files I think there are old URLs. If you do an svn
update then the folders with old urls get deleted. If you get such an error
or warning, fix the problem (for me, deleting a folder or file) and run svn
switch again until it tells you it is up to date at some revision #. Then I
think you will be ok.

Falcon MXML progress

2013-01-11 Thread Gordon Smith
Today I moved to the new repo location, added parser unit tests for
, , , and tags, and feature
tests to demonstrate that the and tags work.

It looks like the old compiler got confused if you put an 'id' attribute on a
tag referring to a , but Falcon allows this.

In an ideal world, we would get the binaries from the CI server. And yes,
its paths might be ugly, but Adobe shipped with paths like "d:\dev\" and
"c:\branches\4.y". We could write tool to replace the paths, probably
wouldn't be that hard, but if you want a fancy path like flex.a.o, it would
need testing to make sure the debugger doesn't choke on it. There is some
weird logic in the debugger to hunt down the source code when the paths in
the debuglines don't match anything on your computer.

I think that ship has sailed :-)

Maybe we should have a note in the release guide to build the release
artifact from a special directory like you mentioned above.

We can, but I have to go through another team so I don't want to hit them up
very often. I was going to wait for the press release and get that in the
welcome screen.

Not for me. We had it switched to 4.8.0 way back when it was released. Was
that on a fresh startup of 4.6? I wonder why you aren't seeing the 4.8.0
post.

I assume you did the dance to get your new license key? You also have to
uninstall the beta and install the real version.

Long shot but any chance of getting it into the welcome screen of FlashBuilder?

4.6 FB still has "Flex SDK To Be Contributed to Apache" as it top story.

I can't check 4.7 currently as I get "Licensing for this product has expired".
4.7 really doesn't want me to use it.

Interesting, I will have to look at your MXML stuff and port it over
to FalconJx, I have a feeling it won't be that hard. :)

Within the next 2 weeks we (Erik and I) will have FalconJx producing

Hi,

I?ve checked in enough code to be able to compile an MXML-based
project into a working HTML/JS project. This means my prototype is
now a true prototype instead of just demo-ware.

I?m going to divert my attention to help Peter finish off the
mustella tests for mobile as we are not currently able to use them

Adobe Chart tests donated.

Author: cframpton
Date: Thu Dec 6 22:51:12 2012

Log:
Add Chart tests with embedded fonts (which seems to make them all smaller and
rotated some of the labels). Ran tests with new bitmaps against Flex 4.8 and
this release to make sure there were no differences.

Re: [MENTORS] Request for access to blog

2013-01-11 Thread Alex Harui
Technically, we don't have mentors anymore, although I am definitely
counting on Dave Fisher and Greg Reddin to provide their sage advice. And
Bertrand, of course, although I think he is going to unsubscribe one of
these days.

Carol, Jun and I are admins as are Dave Fisher. First, you need to follow
this:

Creating new Project Blog users
The blogs.apache.org backend is not currently connected to Apache LDAP
services, so blog users need to be created by our infrastructure team. To
get a username, create an INFRA issue using Blogs as its component name.
Indicate your Apache user ID and to which blog you're requesting access.

Let me know when you get your ID and I will get you set up.

Falcon functional tests

2013-01-11 Thread Gordon Smith
The following tests fail for me

airframeworkSWC()
airsparkSWC()
automation_airSWC()
automation_airsparkSWC()
mobilecomponentsSWC()
tool_airSWC()

so I'm planning to put @Ignore on them. I want all Falcon tests to be either
passing or @Ignore.

2013-01-11 Thread Gordon Smith
Erik, you added a unittest.properties to the compiler.tests directory with your
own settings like

FLEX_HOME=/Users/erik/Documents/apacheFlex/repo/sdk

This makes the Falcon tests fail for me. Was this an accident?

I think the debate has always been about loss of version history going from
Git (where FlexUnit is now) to SVN. If read/write Git is coming to Apache

I own it. I donated it. The grant was filed with Apache last august.

We have just been waiting to figure out where to put it. Problem is, since it's
not Apache yet, all support and other things are happening outside of here
which means users are getting the benefit of the community support and it all
ends up solely on me. Trying to figure out ways to get it here so that it can
become part of the larger project.

[jira] [Resolved] (FLEX-33348) /Users/justinmclean is hardcoded in source code

2013-01-11 Thread Alex Harui (JIRA)

 [
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLEX-33348?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel
 ]

Alex Harui resolved FLEX-33348.
---

Resolution: Not A Problem
  Assignee: Alex Harui

Currently, Apache Flex doesn't have an official release build machine, so
binary convenience distributions are built on the release manager's computer.
This will inject the folder paths of the release manager's folder structure in
the debug information for the binaries and therefore into your swfs, but that
should not affect code behavior. Especially once you have finished debugging
and exported a release build. The debugger should be able to find the source
code for debugging wherever you installed it on your computer.

The VerifyError you got appears to be from a version mismatch. Unless you are
using "Marshall Plan" configurations, all SWCs used in all SWFs in an
application must be built on the same version of Flex. I verified that
UIComponent and Container in Apache Flex 4.9 have the correct code. Source
code history shows that older versions of UIComponent and Container used to use
mx.graphics.RoundedRectangle but this was changed way back in 2009.

Is FlexPaper.swf an old swf built a long time ago on an older version of Flex?
If so, you will have to upgrade it or use "Marshall Plan" configurations.

I dont think this is a bug. This is typical behavior of the compiler/runtime.
The SDK was built and released from Justin's computer which is why the path
appears in the exception stack trace.

I understand.

I'll take another look at the current setup with the 'module/AMD'
approach in mind, just so we don't code ourselves in a corner by
focussing only on 'goog'.

I think we should wait. I don't recall anyone on this list itching to make
any changes to FlexUnit. I see lots of activity in infra working on the Git
stuff. Hopefully we can move to Git "soon".

What about just moving it into SVN and keeping the GitHub repo to browse

It's that time of year again when I ask what we want to do with FlexUnit. It's
in github now with all the history but it's also languishing over their
without enough attention. Should we make the call just to get it into the repos

Quoting Erik de Bruin :

And I'm reverting out of the refactor again... turns out that the
whole structure is geared towards a specific JS approach (prototype
based 'class' definition), so a different JS approach (e.g. one using
the module pattern) would have to override every method anyway...
maybe we should reconsider having the JSEmitter around at all?

I created a subclass for logical sake, and note it is represented in
an interface to separate languages.

I also did this because I thought there might be things that needed
different handling in JS with primitives, errors blah, blah that could
be shared. I don't think taking it out is a good idea right now.

What it's doing right now is binding things together which in the
beginning of a design that is not "technically" pre- thought out
completely is a good thing.

We can remove it it easily down the road, it's not in the way right now.

Hi there Nicholas

We do appreciate your efforts on the website, but not least, don't push to
live today, there's a queue pending list for push on website.

It's a on-going movement and we should do it right. We will collaborate
with efforts.

Things to be done:

Remove redirection from articles posted to Adobe, we just need to link
source[external link].
Update videos page with Apache Flex related videos
Update the index to reflect latest articles published.
Make reasonable to understand the mobile work-flow.
..and so on.

Heh,

I make it a habit that my "vanity" not get in the way of my persona. ;-)

I don't think I have ever put an image of myself up on a site,
probably won't with this either... I stick to more symbolic images,
you want to know what mike looks like, think of psychedelic images
like my Twitter and GIT account images. :)

I didn't make a distinction between Committer and Committer + PMC, since
almost everybody was on both lists. Didn't seem right to have
a separate section of just 3 or 4 people, but we should figure out an
elegant way to mark those are not both PMC and Committers.

Do you mean your task TODO markers in the code? I have read them and
yesterday I knocked off a couple of yours and mine.

I went by the list that is currently on our website. If we dropped
somebody, we need to update that 'official' list. The only people I

[jira] [Resolved] (FLEX-33347) DateSpinner dateAndTime jumping

Carol Frampton resolved FLEX-33347.
---

   Resolution: Fixed
Fix Version/s: Apache Flex 4.10.0

Author: cframpton
Date: Fri Jan 11 16:10:21 2013
New Revision: 1432122

URL: http://svn.apache.org/viewvc?rev=1432122&view=rev
Log:
FLEX-33347 - If DateSpinner is in dateAndTime mode you can't spin forward from
Jan 31 to date in February or if set on March 31 can't spin forward to date in
April, etc. The fix is to set the date variable's month field before the date
field (day of the month). If the date is Jan 31 and you set the month to
February, since Feb 31 isn't valid, Flash sets the month to March.
Unfortunately I don't think there is a workaround for this bug.

The Apache Flex community is pleased to announce the release of Apache Flex

using signatures or MD5 hashes.

> Key: FLEX-33347
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLEX-33347
> Project: Apache Flex
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: Mobile: DateSpinner
>Affects Versions: Adobe Flex SDK 4.6 (Release)
> Environment: Both mobile (iOS) and desktop (Mac) I've tested it
>Reporter: Fréderic Cox
>Assignee: Carol Frampton
>
> As reported on
> http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9126194/flex-mobile-4-6-datespinner-dateandtime-jumping-from-jan-31st-to-march-1st:
> set the date in DateSpinner to January 30 or 31 (using mouse or touch)
> click (mouse or touch) on February 1 (visible one or two rows below on the
> DateSpinner)
> The Datespinner does spin forward but does not stop at February 1: it jumps
> to March 1. The same behavior can be observed with March 31 - mouse click on
> April 1 causes a jump to May 1; with May 31 - mouse click on June 1 jumping
> to July 1, and so on.
> I suspect this behavior is related to the fact that the next month has less
> days than the prior month (30 instead of 31, or 29 in the case of February
> 2012), but it is not the behavior that I would like to see when following
> these two steps. Does anyone know a workaround or fix?
> When the DateSpinner is set with displayMode as 'date' all is well, but that
> doesn't work in my use case.
