Re: [DRAFT] Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.3.0 Released

2017-11-24 Thread Alex Harui
After some experimenting, it looks like 3.2 was not signed with the
correct cert. 3.3 will correctly offer to upgrade 3.1.

I guess we'll have to do more testing of the certs in the future to make
sure we use the right one. Somehow we missed that for 3.2. Because we
didn't force upgrades from 3.1 to 3.2, there may be a lot of folks still
running 3.1 and 3.1 users may not need to uninstall before installing 3.3.

Re: [DRAFT] Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.3.0 Released

2017-11-23 Thread OmPrakash Muppirala
Okay, looks like the certs have not expired:

PS C:\p\documents\certificates\apache> openssl pkcs12 -in
.\installapacheflex_self.p12 -out certificate.pem -nodes
Enter Import Password:
MAC verified OK
PS C:\p\documents\certificates\apache> cat certificate.pem | openssl x509
-noout -enddate
notAfter=Aug 30 08:43:51 2037 GMT

The only possibility now is that the previous versions were signed with a
different cert. I guess we just need to add a note in the announce email
to uninstall the previous version, IFF there is a certificate error durring
installation.

Thanks,
Om

This is how I understand how all this works:

I think Moonshine probably got a certificate from a trusted Certificate
Authority. That way, the OS which probably already has the the root
certificate and can thus verify the validity of the Moonshine IDE.

The certificate we use for signing the installer was a self created cert.
So, if you manually install the certificate, then the OS can verify the
signature of the Installer binary.

In our case, there is a good chance that our certificate has expired. Can
you send it to me privately so I can try to check its validity?

Thanks,
Om

Om,

Well I'm not so sure. I'm also not an expert in signing, but for example
Moonshine have also some signing certs and I see that tab "Digital
Signature" after installation.

Guys,

Something is totally wrong. I just installed Installer 3.2 and check whether
it has digital sign and it's not. For the comparison I've checked "Adobe
Extension Manager CS6" and properties looks like that:

Re: [DRAFT] Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.3.0 Released

2017-11-22 Thread Alex Harui
IMO, the certificate is not in the source package, and you are not
altering the source package, so the release is fine as is.

But first, I think it would be best if you take the time to verify what is
wrong. It feels like we are only guessing at this point. I don't have
much time today to help.

Good luck,

Maybe. I think I remember the builds failing for some reason like that?

I'm not an expert on this certificate stuff. Maybe we need to try this?

Re: [DRAFT] Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.3.0 Released

2017-11-22 Thread OmPrakash Muppirala
Perhaps the certificate expired?
Also, it seems like we can create a new certificate and do a migrate
command so that users won't have to uninstall existing app
https://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WS13ACB483-1711-43c0-9049-0A7251630A7D.html

Thanks,

In my experience, SWFs never recompile and match. I think there is a
time-stamp in the SWF.

One way I can think of is to re create the binaries with the correct certs
and do a checksum comparison with the RC binaries.

Is there a better way, perhaps?

mistake somewhere and we just didn't notice. I'm not sure how to verify
what certificate was used. Maybe Om knows.

Yes I've used your certificates which you have sent me. I did use following
variables in build.properties file to locate certs as instruction said in
RELEASE_GUIDE.

RELEASE_KEYSTORE_FILE=
CERT_PASSWORD_FILE=

Have you done this differently ?

Re: [DRAFT] Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.3.0 Released

2017-11-22 Thread Alex Harui
Are you sure both your 3.2 and 3.3 versions were signed with the
certificates we sent you off-list? I don't remember exactly how it works
but AIUI, if you install the Installer as built from a source package,
that build won't have the official certificates and you'll get that error
since the new and old versions will have different certificates. But if
we correctly set the certificates, and they match, it should just work.

I'm not sure how to verify certificates. Maybe Om remembers. I'm
wondering if 3.2 didn't get the official certs. The idea is that we can
force an upgrade and it shouldn't cause everyone to hit this error.

This happens if the new version is signed with a different certificate.
Piotr, where did you get the certificate from when you created the dmg and

Re: [DRAFT] Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.3.0 Released

2017-11-22 Thread Alex Harui
Piotr,

I agree with Om that the 3.2 installer may not need to be uninstalled
before installing 3.3 on Windows. In fact, I think that the 3.2 Installer
will offer an upgrade to 3.3 the next time it is run if we force the
upgrade via idk-installer-config-4.0.xml. We did not do that in the past
because of some concerns about the new HTTP communications layer not
working for some folks with Proxys.

I would recommend that you verify before making the claim that all windows
users will have to uninstall 3.2.

Thanks,
-Alex

Re: [DRAFT] Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.3.0 Released

2017-11-18 Thread Piotr Zarzycki
Hi Zach,

Unfortunately during work on that issue I have found that we have also
issue into the part related to Installer in Flex SDK itself. I have fixed
it. In order to test it or try you have to use Nightly Build of SDK or try
to download Release Candidate 2 of SDK.

Right click on the list of the sdk in the installer and choose "Show Dev
Builds" -> "Apache Flex SDK 4.16.1 RC2". We are in the process of releasing
this version. Let me know if it's work for you.

Thanks, Piotr

Re: [DRAFT] Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.3.0 Released

2017-11-18 Thread Lydecker
Hi,

Thanks for putting in the work on the new installer.

Unfortunately it does not work on Windows. It fails as it tries to mount a
DMG (which is obviously mac only). Here is the failed log file from a
Windows machine:

Installer version 3.3.0 (windows)
Using Locale: en_GB
Fetched the SDK download mirror URL from the CGI.
SDK version Apache Flex SDK 4.16.0
AIR version 27.0
Flash Player version 27.0
Creating Apache Flex home
Creating temporary directory
Downloading Apache Flex SDK from:
http://apache.mirror.anlx.net/flex/4.16.0/binaries/apache-flex-sdk-4.16.0-bin.zip
Verifying Apache Flex SDK MD5 Signature
The Apache Flex SDK MD5 Signature of the downloaded files matches the
reference. The file is valid.
Unzipping: C:\flex\temp\apache-flex-sdk-4.16.0-bin.zip
Finished unzipping: C:\flex\temp\apache-flex-sdk-4.16.0-bin.zip
Downloading Adobe AIR Runtime Kit for Windows from:
http://airdownload.adobe.com/air/win/download/27.0//AdobeAIRSDK.zip
Validating download: C:\flex/in/AdobeAIRSDK.zip
Finished unzipping: C:\flex/in/AdobeAIRSDK.zip
Should unzip: ${shouldUnzip}
Mounting dmg
Exec task failed: /usr/bin/hdiutil
Aborting Installation:
http://flex.apache.org/track-installer.html?failure=true=Apache Flex
SDK
4.16.0=4.16.0=windows=3.3.0==Exec%20task%20failed%3A%20/usr/bin/hdiutil
