even for italian there were no changes in strings after the announcement.
I suppose that cryptic message No further action needed stands for
no source strings modified or added.

Could anybody tell me whether it is normal that Catalan Pootle files were

Hello all,
I noticed that the string My AutoText inside the AutoText window

It is also impossible to fix some errors in some AutoTexts since those

Is it possible to make both available trough Pootle?

nothing has been changed in this regard. Consider that in Pootle you
have the latest content that will be used for next release. If you
correct strings there, then they will be integrated into next

  Hi,

Pootle was updated with m3. Please try to update your translation
  files before the down time.

Why? Translation delivery is Aug. 19th.
So - I agree, that we should try to get our translations in better now
than later, but there is no need to hurry (and risk low quality).

At the other hand I see no reason to get ~20 Strings translated, when
only one was requested as bugfix. We had UI freeze, it is *not* my
duty to fix UI changes that other people introduced. (I'll do it,
just because I do not want that such bugs are presented to the end user).

I second that.
For Italian the situation is even worst: ~700 fuzzy words in UI + ~1k fuzzy
words in Help with changes on file that were edited in the meantime... (Does
s/b mention there was changes also in Help files?)
20 strings are ok, but this is not acceptable. No more free weekends for me
until 19th august :-(

I don't know of any way to set up some kind of automatic

There are some built in tools on the Wiki, and some extensions that

For example, you can watch pages - so someone who's translated some
pages set a watch on the source language pages. Then they will be
flagged when a page changes. This still requires manual diffs to
  find out what exactly changed.

No need to do this, if you have a translation memory that match all

We've also come across this translation extension:

which was originally designed to translate MediaWiki messages, but is
apparently being used to translate Wiki content as well. What may be
of interest to everyone involved in the more formal organized
translation process is the fact that it can export po format. If
you as a group are interested in exploring this extension a little,
I can install it, but... it would be up to you to work with it and
test it to see if it meets your needs. I have some preliminary
contact info with people who say it's suitable to use for page
  translations (see
 http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Main_Page )

I don't think that .po is the best file format for doing this job. Is
there any way for .po files to carry formatting information without being
mixed up with content? If would be helpful to see a sample file just to
understand how it works.

Another solution comes to my mind, but I don't know if it's feasible.
Why not to use ODT export extension [1], then translate the document
with the preferred CAT tool (or convert it again, for example to XLIFF
[2]) and then use Sun Wiki Publisher extension for OOo [3] to put the
content back?

PROs (some of them valid also for .po):
Formatting informations are kept during the whole process
No need to stay online to translate
Ability to use translation memories (= more consistency, also with OOo)

CONs
More conversions usually means also more problems
Some says that Sun Wiki Publisher generate bloated wiki code (I didn't
test it, however)

It also will be helpful to know how other teams are translating wiki
content, just to share experiences and best practices.

[l10n-dev] Misleaded function translation

2009-04-08 Thread Paolo Pozzan
Hello,
an italian tester reported a wrong Calc function translation in OOo 3.1 RC.
This is because a translation fault, nothing related to the l10n process.

I just want to know if there is enough time to fix it, as it would be very
uncomfortable for users to find a function with a wrong name.
If yes, what are the things we need to do?

Thanks!

Just to be sure... That means we do not have to do nothing, right?

No you haven't to translate them, this is an error.

 Kind regards

Thank you Sophie!
Just to know, do I have to leave them as they are (fuzzy, untranslated) or there
is a specific state for these strings?

Anyone knows about fixes for errors found in this release?
I am not talking about strings not implemented (like Sophie or Nguyen Hung Vu)
but errors freshly discovered.

I already fixed them in Pootle, but I think this will be not enough.
Thanks!

[l10n-dev] Pootle on port 80

2008-03-03 Thread Paolo Pozzan
Hello Aijin,

some italian translators are experiencing problems with Pootle because of
firewalls / traffic shaping appliances.

I remember you are already aware about this annoyance. Do you have any good
news? :-)
Thanks!

Thanks!

[l10n-dev] Two questions about Pootle

2007-12-12 Thread Paolo Pozzan
Hello all,
we are working on 2nd hand-off with Pootle but we face with two problems:

1. is there a way to understand what are the last added strings? I need to
manage revisions and unfortunately I set assignments to whole folders instead
of blank and fuzzy ones.

2. I correct some mistakes on pootle translation project. When Pootle itself
will be updated? Well, maybe this is not a problem, it's just to know...

Thank you!

Thanks

Hello,

Can someone please provide me some news?
Italian team is made only by volunteers, so working during weekends is
fundamental for us.

Thank you.

I would like to know if it's worth for us working on still untranslated

 Sorry for late reply.
I'm not sure what was the problem, however I can access to Pootle now.
 Can you try again?

I'll look into the server to see if there is any issue.

I just tested it (7:30 GMT) and it works!
