Re: 11.2 features and download pages

2019-10-20 Thread Antonio

Hi all,

I've modified the jenkins job configuration [1] to use the new "JDK 1.8
(latest)" that Infra has kindly reconfigured.

We should be good until Infra changes the contents of the combo again :-)

Cheers,
Antonio

Nothing. Looks like our website Jenkins build is broken by the
changes Antonio mentioned the other day. The JDK being specified is
no longer available since the Jenkins upgrade as far as I can tell.
Task needs checking and updating. Not by me right now! ;-) Just
working on vote artefacts.

Re: Deprecated versions Maven/Ant/Java to be removed soon.

2019-10-20 Thread Antonio

Hi Geertjan,

In the past the website jenkins script failed because we had specified a
version of JDK8 that Infra had deprecated (without notice).

We should be checking the "Configuration" section of our Jenkins jobs,
making sure we use the proper versions and not the deprecated ones.

I'll try to take a look in the coming days looking for deprecated
maven/ant/jdk versions.

Kind regards,
Antonio

Hi All,

As part of migrating all our Jenkins nodes to Ubuntu 18.04 and as per Infra
Policy in maintaining the build nodes, older versions of Maven, Ant and
Java are to be removed over the next few days. All of the versions being
removed have newer versions available. (Example 3.0.4 has 3.0.5 available
as replacement)

Note that, as the H nodes have been rebuilt as 18.04, most of these
deprecated versions have not been re-installed.

Buildbot nodes will be having the same removals done.

Please find below a summary of each; and links to their cwiki documentation

What has been tested:

 * Checksums (source and binary): Ok
 * Signatures (source and binary): Ok
 * Checked for Jars: Ok
 * Checked NOTICE: There is a reference of Kotlin compiler. (That might
me my bad, not to notice that some Kotlin support already in this
   release)
 * LICENSE file: Skimmed through it but looks Ok
 * Build from README: Ok
 * Tried the IDE on Ubuntu with little smoke tests I have for Gradle
Projects on: JDK 8, 11 and 13 on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS: It was all good.

Great work Neil and Eric! Thanks for the new build pipeline!

Before voting +1 you are required to download the signed source code
package, compile it as provided, and test the resulting executable on
your own platform, along with also verifying that the package meets
the requirements of the ASF policy on releases - see
http://www.apache.org/legal/release-policy.html#management

In particular, you should (at least) follow these steps.

1. Download the artefact to be voted on and unzip it.
2. Check that the artefact does not contain any jar files, except for:
 -
platform/autoupdate.services/test/unit/src/org/netbeans/api/autoupdate/data/empty.jar
 - enterprise/glassfish.common/test/unit/data/nottaDir-4_1_2.jar
 - enterprise/glassfish.common/test/unit/data/subdir/nottaDir-5.0.jar
 - enterprise/payara.common/test/unit/data/nottaDir-4_1_2.jar
 - enterprise/payara.common/test/unit/data/subdir/nottaDir-5.0.jar
which are only jars by their name
3. Verify the cryptographic signatures, the NOTICE and LICENSE file
4. Build it using the README provided by the artefact.
5. Look in nbbuild/netbeans for the NetBeans installation created by
the build process and try running it.

In addition to checking the sources, you should check the associated
convenience binary zips and nbms at the artefact links above. As well
as checking any artefact functions correctly, you should check that it
has been correctly signed by a PMC member, and that the source being
voted on is sufficient to build the relevant binary. Separate votes
will be held on other convenience binaries, including Maven artefacts
and for each installer. Those will be dependent on this vote passing.

This vote is going to be open at least 72 hours, vote with +1, 0, and
-1 as usual. Please mark your vote with (binding) if you're an Apache
NetBeans PMC member to help with voting admin. NetBeans 11.2 will be
released if and when this vote passes.

Thank you for all the hard work!

Best wishes,

Built from source with the following environment:

openjdk version "1.8.0_192"

OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_192-amazon-corretto-preview-b12)

OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.192-b12, mixed mode)

Ran with 'ant tryme' and with 'nbbuild/netbeans/bin/netbeans'.

Looked at LICENSE and NOTICE and README -- all look good, no problems.

Tried to find JARs other than those listed and failed.

Also downloaded and ran convenience binary -- verified signatures and
sha512 of source and binary.

Created one of the JavaFX Gluon samples, set JDK 13, ran after changing
'Run project' action to 'clean javafx:run'.

Downloaded both source and convenience binary, verified PGP signatures
and sha512 sums of both.

Verified no jar files in source except for files mentioned.

Built from source using JDK 11.0.4 with ant arguments

Ran with "ant tryme" as well as nbbuild/netbeans/bin/netbeans.

Also ran convenience binary. For both: opened a Java project, nb-javac

[VOTE] Release Apache NetBeans 11.2 [vote candidate 1]

2019-10-20 Thread Neil C Smith
Dear all,

This is our first voting candidate for the 11.2 release of Apache
NetBeans. Note that this is our first release vote where you are
required to check both sources and convenience binaries before voting!
See requirements below.

Apache NetBeans 11.2 constitutes all clusters in the Apache NetBeans
Git repo, which together provide the NetBeans Platform (i.e., the
underlying application framework), as well as all the modules that
provide the Java SE, Java EE, PHP, JavaScript and Groovy features of
Apache NetBeans.

Build artefacts are available here:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/netbeans/netbeans/11.2-vc1/
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/netbeans/netbeans-platform/11.2-vc1/

They were built by the Jenkins pipeline at:
https://builds.apache.org/view/M-R/view/NetBeans/job/netbeans-TLP/job/netbeans/job/release112/29/

We are primarily voting on:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/netbeans/netbeans/11.2-vc1/netbeans-11.2-vc1-source.zip

Neil

Re: Deprecated versions Maven/Ant/Java to be removed soon.

2019-10-20 Thread Geertjan Wielenga
Hi Antonio,

Thanks, how/where do we do this -- or can you do this and then document
what you've done so that I'd be able to do it myself next time?

Thanks,

Gj

Re: 11.2 features and download pages

Nothing. Looks like our website Jenkins build is broken by the
changes Antonio mentioned the other day. The JDK being specified is
no longer available since the Jenkins upgrade as far as I can tell.
Task needs checking and updating. Not by me right now! ;-) Just
working on vote artefacts.

11.2 features and download pages

2019-10-20 Thread Geertjan Wielenga
Hi all, especially Neil and Antonio,

I started putting together the features and download pages:

https://github.com/apache/netbeans-website/tree/master/netbeans.apache.org/src/content/download/nb112

I.e.,:

https://github.com/apache/netbeans-website/blob/master/netbeans.apache.org/src/content/download/nb112/index.asciidoc

and

https://github.com/apache/netbeans-website/blob/master/netbeans.apache.org/src/content/download/nb112/nb112.asciidoc

I would expect them to be accessible like this:

https://netbeans.apache.org/download/nb112/index.html
https://netbeans.apache.org/download/nb112/nb112.html

But they're not, what needs to be done or should I do differently?

Thanks,

Gj
