H. Louafi wrote: Recently and as part of my doctoral research project, I have extended the OpenOffice XHTML export filter by fixing numerous bugs and adding new features Great news! The XHTML filter is one of those components that definitely need improvement, and it's good to know that someone in the community silently decided to go on and improve it. Now, I need you help to incorporate these extensions into OpenOffice and give the community a better experience with the XHTML filter. Actually, I don't khow what the process is. Thanks! I assume you modified the OpenOffice sources directly (we use the word extensions to denote independent components in OXT format, but, given the context, your changes are likely applied to the main source code). Which version did you base upon (sources from OpenOffice 3.4.1, an SVN checkout from trunk)? I believe that code has been largely unchanged recently, so your changes should apply to all recent versions. The recommended approach is to contribute a patch through our Bugzilla system: 1) Generate a diff of your code with respect to the OpenOffice code it was based upon (svn diff will do) and save it to a text file. 2) Create an account on https://issues.apache.org/ooo/ 3) Open a new issue of type PATCH (don't worry about the other fields, we can set them appropriately later) and attach the file generated in step 1. Also specify which revision/tag you used for the original sources. 4) Send the issue number (or link) here so that everybody can take a look. Should you need any further help with the procedure, just ask here. We'll also, out of curiosity, want to know more about your research project and how it is related to OpenOffice, but starting with the code seems just right. XHTML filter extensions
Hello, Recently and as part of my doctoral research project, I have extended the OpenOffice XHTML export filter by fixing numerous bugs and adding new features, such as adding the possibility to export images and shapes (line, circle,..) into traditional Web pages. In addition, I added the possibility to export images and text using a scaling parameter and quality factor (for JPEG images). In the future, these extensions can help people using OpenOffice documents via their web-enabled mobile devices (by mean of Web browsers). Now, I need you help to incorporate these extensions into OpenOffice and give the community a better experience with the XHTML filter. Actually, I don't khow what the process is. Thanks! Best Regards, Habib
Re: [Sidebar] Win / Linux: layout difference of the color picker?
OK, thanks. Can't see what's going wrong with my version (even with a brand new profile). Perhaps it has been fixed in a later build. Will try. About 1/3 of the entries will have to have the tabs/or spaces edited to bring them back into alignment. This is very time consuming and should be unnessary. Tabs spaces need to be one constant size, never variable, within each font size. Being able to lock the position of a column (not as a table) would also work. You can do so with Format - Paragraph - Tabs (read the manual, i.e., press the Help button in that dialog, to know more). 2)In an OpenOffice spreadsheet: Within a cell it is common to want to split wrap-around text at the the author's point of preference (such as with an address). The placement of multiple spaces to push the text into position is time consuming, sloppy, and unpredictable at best. Then, if the size of the cell or the font changes, the entire document has to be searched to repair the unwanted auto-adjustments. Please provide a way to use commands like enter and tab inside the cells. Press CTRL-Enter. 3)When pasting information copied from any internet source into an OpenOffice text document, OpenOffice will consistantly crash at least 20% of the time. Worse, I've experienced days when it was 98% of the time. The method I've used is to block the desired information on the website, control + C to copy, then control + V to paste the information into my OpenOffice document. Photos cause the most trouble but text is in no way immune. Use CTRL-Shift-V (or Edit - Paste Special), whenever possible, to paste as unformatted text. If you have a web page that leads to crashes 100% of the times, open a bug in Bugzilla about it: https://issues.apache.org/ooo/ 1)In an OpenOffice spreadsheet: I don't want to have to reorganize an entire spreadsheet to accomodate a single unusual entry so is there a way to split one cell into multiple cells?I'd like the choice of vertical, horizontal, or multiple splits and also need to be able to adjust the size of the resultant cells. You could, even though it is not very handy, merge all other cells and un-merge those that you need split. 2)In an OpenOffice text document please tell me how to switch between manual and auto-placement of outline numbering. Also, how do I set manual as my default? Format - AutoCorrect - AutoCorrect Options - Options - Disable Apply numbering - Symbol * Regards, Andrea. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org

Re: Omitted carriage return in Norwegian print dialog
Forwarding the message below to the l10n list, please follow up there. It seems that this is actually due to a wrong or corrupted PO file in the Norwegian (nb) translation. See my comment in the issue page https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=122163 for more. Hopefully the Norwegian volunteers can come up with a fixed PO file. Regards, Andrea. If you can suggest the precise place and wording (in French) to insert them somewhere under http://www.openoffice.org/fr/Documentation/ we can upload them there (or do you prefer to wait for the final version? They already look quite nice). General introduction to Apache OpenOfficeTM and the forks OOo4Kids and OOoLight produced by educoo.org. Are those forks or derivative products? I'd prefer to use the latter, which is probably more accurate (documentation, at least, is flowing back to OpenOffice, and http://wiki.ooo4kids.org says that Everything is made with the idea to contribute back to Apache OpenOffice Project); this is a detail that matters, so I'd rather use derivative products in this case.
