This is the tracking issue for the Gaelic (gc) translation of Apache
OpenOffice.

The translation is actually 100% complete in Pootle, so Gaelic will be
released; but some strings (1030 words total) have to be reviewed (they are
mainly moved strings, so almost always they are already translated).

The task can be completed very quickly by a native speaker at

Hello Oliver,

I did a test in a clean virtualbox under Debian Wheezy 32 bit.
First I installed AOO 3.4.1 without problems
Then I installed the developer Snapshot from 2013-06-27 with dpkg -i *.deb.

This doesn't work proper. I get many errors, for example: openoffice
kollidiert mit openoffice.org3 and so on

I tried it also with --auto-deconfigure but this doesn't solve all problems.

Kind regards

Russian has just one word left to translate in Pootle, and 1193 words needing
review. The translation is complete and it will be very likely be released, but
it's important that a native speaker has a quick look at the Pootle strings to
accept the strings needing review, so that Pootle does not complain about an
incomplete translation.

Suggesting as release blocker since the translation is complete.

Release notes in Pootle (Re: Pre-requisite for Tamil Version of AOO 4.0)

2013-06-29 Thread Andrea Pescetti

RGB wrote:

Just thinking aloud: Is it possible to put the release notes on pootle?
Build a third project, Apache OpenOffice 4.x release notes? And the
release announcement?

In theory it is quite possible. I had a look and I put a proof of
concept, with the 3.4.1 files, in my temporary area.

Original English HTML file, identical to SVN:
http://people.apache.org/~pescetti/tmp/rn2po/rn-341.en.html
(it looks simpler since it doesn't get the site formatting, but it is
what we have in SVN for English).

Untranslated PO file obtained from it with
html2po rn-341.en.html rn-341.po
http://people.apache.org/~pescetti/tmp/rn2po/rn-341.po

A partially translated Italian PO file (here I used POEdit, but Pootle
is fine too):

http://people.apache.org/~pescetti/tmp/rn2po/rn-341.it.po

Recreated HTML file in Italian with
po2html -t rn-341.en.html rn-341.it.po rn-341.it.html
http://people.apache.org/~pescetti/tmp/rn2po/rn-341.it.html
(if put on the openoffice.org site, it would get the nice formatting
automatically, with no changes necessary)

Using Pootle would put some burden on the Pootle administrators. On the
other hand, not using Pootle and asking people to send HTML files is
error-prone and tedious too (since the HTML files have to be checked in
anyway). So, so long as we use HTML files, this seems feasible. If we
don't want to do additional work at all, we can of course ask people to
host translations on their blogs and merely provide links, but the other
way looks more official.

  Andrea.

In my opinion, anything that would get us further along with translating
ANY of the pertinent documentation for a release is a great idea! I don't
know anything about Pootle, but maybe we should give this a try.

The next step if we want to continue with this would be to make standard
release notes areas in the for the web sites -- English and native lang.
Juergen actually suggested something like this over a year ago but we never
got to it. Then we can figure out how to get the translations where they
need to go -- some scripting magic, no doubt.

Good suggestion and proof of concept testing I must say! :)

BootstrapException: no office executable found!

2013-06-29 Thread Juan C. Sanz

Hello.
I've just start to learn with the OpenOffice Developer's Guide.
Following the Getting Started chapter I've installed:

 * a 32-bit version of JDK (jdk-7u25-nb-7_3_1-linux-i586.sh and
   jdk-6u45-linux-i586.bin)
 * a Java IDE (Netbeans 7.3 - I installed 7.3.1 but I uninstalled it

 * OpenOffice plugging for Netbeans
   (org-openoffice-extensions-3.0.2.nbm, from
   http://people.apache.org/~cmarcum/devtools/)

All it is running in a VirtualBox machine with Linux Mint 15 32-bit
(linux 3.8.0-19 and MATE 1.6.0)
My problem is that when I try to run any sample of the Developer's Guide
I always get the same error:

com.example.OfficeUNOClientApp.main(OfficeUNOClientApp.java:49)/
Also if I create a new empty Apache OpenOffice Client Application
project, running the frame created, I get the same error.
I've tried to change the java platform (that's why I have jdk-7 and
jdk-6 installed), following the (very old) advises from some forums I've
tried to add everything to the CLASSPATH, I've tried soffice
-accept=socket,host=0,port=2002;urp;, I execute the setsdkenv_unix...

I think I've done everything, but I get always the same error.
What am I doing wrong? Some more advises?

From the wording it sounds as if you are not replying to the mail sent to
you.

When you create an account, a verification e-mail is sent, you must click
on the link in that email. Clicking on the link opens mwiki with a
confirmation.

If you do as written above, then please email my your userid directly, then
I will have a look in the database.

Orwellian Reality (from Tim Meyer)

2013-06-29 Thread Tim Meyer
I'm writing to thank you for access to the office suite functionality that
seems effectively for free?—I thought there was no such thing as free— so
Apache Open Office allows access to the information culture despite poverty,
for which I am exceedingly grateful. If I had it, I would contribute money.

Ever since I resigned my DoD chemist position more or less on principle, my
financial reality has gone from bad to worse. So strange, rapidly our system
declares a person long-term unemployed within months; gaps in the resume
are implicit crimes to justify rejection for employment that leads to an
effective permanent lock out from the work force. Unable to earn money, the
budget for office hardware and software becomes zero. For the latter, Microsoft
minimally requires about one hundred U.S. dollars for our information functions.

Well, lucky for me I had been a skilled musician before I entered the
workforce. I bought a Yamaha DJX (vintage) from consignment for sixty U.S.
dollars, playing gigs at fifty to a hundred a show, the instrument has been a
vehicle for upwards of six figures and going . . . This did not require
information age tools such as our office suite.

Your worst enemy, he reflected, was your own nervous system. At any moment
the tension inside you was liable to translate itself into some visible symptom.
He thought of a man whom he had passed in the street a few weeks back;
a quite ordinary-looking man, a Party member, aged thirty-five to forty, tallish
and thin, carrying a brief-case. They were a few metres apart when the left side
of the man’s face was suddenly contorted by a sort of spasm. It happened again
just as they were passing one another: it was only a twitch, a quiver, rapid
as the clicking of a camera shutter, but obviously habitual. He remembered
thinking at the time: That poor devil is done for. And what was frightening
was that the action was quite possibly unconscious. The most deadly danger of
all was talking in your sleep. There was no way of guarding against that, so far
as he could see.

Re: Open from file menu

2013-06-29 Thread Rajath Shashidhara
Hello Juergen,

I have added a couple of log statements in my extension.
When I type a url in the open menu, a call to getPropertyValues ucb command
is executed.

When I type a wrong/nonexistent url, a non-existant object dialog is
launched.
When I type a correct url, a call to getPropertyValues is shown in the
log, but nothing happens after that.

Debugging,
yes I have developed my own client application and I have executed the ucb
commands i have developed and they work fine.
I have added the arguments to my jre to connect to the debugger. I followed
the instructions of ariel for this.

So it seems that you are already registered and that you need to use the links

By the way, I am sending this message to you because I could not see any

Re: [WWW]There is no contact information on the wiki

2013-06-29 Thread Hagar Delest

For the record, in the past (before the move to ASF servers), each forum had a
contact address with a special process:

1. All messages were sent to a moderator forum visible to mods only. A tag told
if the mail address was registered or not. An other one told if it was not the
first message from that mail address (to the admin mailbox).
2. An automatic reply was sent depending on the existence of an identical
registered mail address.
3. Mods just had to edit each message to confirm if standard reply would have
taken care of the problem or not. If a specific reply was needed. The edit was
used to tell other mods that the message had been checked. Non edited posts had
then to be checked and action taken if necessary.

Here is the automated mail:

Actually, that error message (Incorrect or missing confirmation code)
is linked to the cats and dogs CAPTCHA... This is why I was asking if
it makes sense to try with another browser and, in case, if we have a
suggestion of a tested working configuration (like: Firefox 22 without
the noscript add-on... this is just a made-up example of course).

Gujarati fonts -

2013-06-29 Thread Omkar Rawal
Dear Sir,

Earlier I was using Open Office version 3.3 and I was able to copy
paste Hindi Gujarati fonts in word documents. To-day, I have
installed version 3.4 and I could only copy and paste HINDI fonts in
word documents and no GUJARATI fonts are pest.

Would you please guide me step by step what action I should take to
copy and paste Gujarati fonts. In Microsoft word 2010, it is easy to
paste both Hindi Gujarati fonts but after installing new version of
open office 3.4 gives me hard time. I would appreciate your response
in the matter.

Thanking you,

Omkar Rawal

Upgrading extensions for AOO 4.0

2013-06-29 Thread Guy Waterval
Hi all,

As you know, some extensions have to be upgraded for AOO 4.0.
What to do if some authors refuse to make the necessary modifications and
decide to make their extensions only available for Libo because they are
not in love with AOO?
Some of these extensions are important, I think (pdf import, for instance).
I wonder if it could be possible to buy the service here. But I have no
idea of the required price for such a work, Perhaps an opportunity for
people who will develop a commercial activity around AOO ?

Bug 122647: Python linked against system OpenSSL
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=122647

--- Additional Comments from Ariel Constenla-Haile arie...@apache.org
Python is linked against the OpenSSL libraries available on the system, even if
configured with internal OpenSSL.

This breaks the mail service provider component, written in Python, as most
SMTP services require SSL.
