[CWiki] new default access rights active

2013-10-01 Thread Oliver-Rainer Wittmann

Hi,

ASF infra had to clean up the CWiki due to a lot of spam. Thus, ASF
infra put in place new default access rights.
In short: the right to edit CWiki pages needs to be granted
person-by-person.

Best regards, Oliver.

It is not letting me edit in either firefox or chrome. Is there something
we can add to the URL to go directly to the page editor for a page, any
work arounds?

These links existed from when we first went to Apache. Check the SVN
logs. They are not new. But I agree that the links are not
appropriate.

I think the plan is to make a new sr website based on a translation of
the English pages.

Hi,

I can confirm that problem. I am not familiar with with cwiki,
but I
added myself to "Directory of volunteers", where I currently also
can't
find a way how to edit that page.

It seems currently cwiki only can be edited by very few persons?

I cannot edit pages in the cwiki either. I was able to do it last
week, but
this week I can't, because the edit-page option is missing. Is this
lock-out
a collateral damage of the release notes being protected?

The web page says: "No edit restrictions are defined for this page".
This is under Tools/Restrictions menu item. Do you see something
differenent?

I'm logged in and that Restrictions page says that:
No view restrictions are defined for this page
No edit restrictions are defined for this page

But the "Edit" link that used to be on the page (left to the "Share"
link) is missing. That edit link is still visible on a page that I
haven't refreshed since last week. I'm sure it will be gone there too

if

I reload the page. Also the "Add" link, which used to be between the
"Share" and the "Tools" link is missing.

I was able to edit it (of course). It looks like Andrea was as
well.
Do you happen to have the admin role in our CWikis?

Herbert

I can confirm that there is indeed a problem with editing documents on
the cwiki. I checked a few documents including this one and the 4.0.1
release notes and all have no edit restrictions set, but the edit
button
is no longer visible.

For me the "Edit" button is also not visible.

Same here: the "restrictions" menu says that there are no
restrictions, but
I cannot edit any page, not even the ones I created.

Regards,
Ricardo

true enough...no pages seem to be editable!

CWiki was updated. For me it works again. Maybe you have to logout and
login.

Hi,

I can confirm that problem. I am not familiar with with cwiki, but I
added myself to "Directory of volunteers", where I currently also
can't
find a way how to edit that page.

It looks like Andrea was as well.
Do you happen to have the admin role in our CWikis?

Herbert

I can confirm that there is indeed a problem with editing documents on
the cwiki. I checked a few documents including this one and the 4.0.1
release notes and all have no edit restrictions set, but the edit button
is no longer visible.

For me the "Edit" button is also not visible.

Same here: the "restrictions" menu says that there are no restrictions, but
I cannot edit any page, not even the ones I created.

Regards,
Ricardo

true enough...no pages seem to be editable!

CWiki was updated. For me it works again. Maybe you have to logout and
login.

Thus, download page works on my side - Thx for the hard work.

Thanks a lot for your different tests. It shows that in general it is
working fine on a wide base of browsers - even with MSIE 8.

However, in some circumstances the website is not successfully shown and
the goal is to answer the "Why" question. At the moment I've no hint
were to start to look at. But if someone has some tips please tell here.
:-)

No problem.

But in another thread I mentioned that on my system (Windows 7 64bit
English) in Internet Explorer 8 the table on
http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html is empty.

So, you mean this?
http://www.openoffice.org/download/ -->  OK

Does somebody else experience the same?

No, on my office PC I've Windows 7 64-bit and MSIE 8. But no problems to
display both webpages. But after the latest changes I'll try again tomorrow.

I'm queued up on browsershots.org for a test of I.E. 5.5, 6, 7, 8, 9,
10 and 11. I'll post the results here.

Maybe do also (or only?) tests on the test webpage:
http://www.openoffice.org/download/test/other.html

I've added a function to emulate the indexOf() function.

Hm, to bad that I've to fix a IE problem on a Linux system. ;-(

Thanks

Re: Automating Error-prone Manual Release-related Files By Using Centralized Release Artifact Metadata

2013-10-01 Thread Michal Hriň
Dňa Tue, 01 Oct 2013 20:38:03 +0200 Marcus (OOo)
napísal:

Am 10/01/2013 04:17 PM, schrieb Rob Weir:

Every time we release we need to generate quite a few files related to
the release.

Here's the list I know of:

1) The ASC/SHA/MD5 hashes and signature files, one for every released
file

2) A CWiki page listing all the built files with hyperlinks to hashes,
etc.

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Development+Snapshot+Builds#DevelopmentSnapshotBuilds-AOOSnapshot

This is used when voting on a Release Candidate.

3) release_matrix.js, used by the download page's logic to decide what
file to recommend based on user's locale:

http://www.openoffice.org/download/release_matrix.js

Plus the file size for the install files. I get it from the Sourceforge
master mirror via rsync.

A simplification would be to combine "languages.js" and
"release_matrix.js".

4) The other.html page that has a table listing all release files:

http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html

This is already automated via a few variables from "gloablvars.js".

5) Another download page, on openoffice.apache.org, listing the source
and SDK links, along with hashes:

https://openoffice.apache.org/downloads.html

My opinion is that we don't need this. Everything is already available
on "other.html". We could reduce the webpage to show general information
but for the specific release things refer to "other.html".

6) A flat list of all download URLs, used by the download stats script:

http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/devtools/aoo-stats/401.lst

7) The XML files used by the upgrade notification server, one XML file
per release:

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/ooo-site/trunk/content/projects/update38/ProductUpdateService/check.Update

I imagine this list will grow over time. Certainly new releases and
new translations cause us to update these files. And to the extent
they are manually created they will contain errors. Even if created
by automation, if we don't have a canonical data set that we're all
working from there is the opportunity for error.

So the big question: What can we do to improve on this?

1) Can we have a single, published, canonical, machine-readable
description of what is contained in a release, or even what is
contained in each build:

+1
Yeah, a (so-called) "source of truth" would be great.

For the download website the "globalvars.js" delivers the source data.
But it needs to be filled with the data.

Topic looks interesting,
I have question, what data about released files do you mean ?
It is not enough to have : version+platform+language ?

a) base URL of where the files live

http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/files/

Then + VERSION + "/binaries/" + ISO_CODE

b) based URL to where the hashes and signatures live

http://www.apache.org/dist/openoffice/

Then + VERSION + "/binaries/" + NL_LANGUAGE + "/" + FILENAME

a) and b) can be seen as easy or difficult. Depends on your personal
point of view.

c) list of all language codes and platforms included in the build

 >

d) defined rules for creating the full paths and file names given this
information.

2) Have such a data file for every past release, at least back to 3.4.0.

+1

3) Write scripts to generate our other files from these canonical files.

4) Check this all in to a central place so when a new release comes
out we can generate these needed files automatically, with much lower
chance for errors.

5) Spend our extra time drinking beer and imagining how rich we'd all
be if we each received $0.01 for every download of AOO.

How close are we to this? Is any part of this automated already today?

The top number #4 is already automated.

But with the bottom #1 - #4 would be an advantage. However, I would be
satisfied with #1 (source of base data) as everything else is not that
difficult and time-consuming.

My 2 ct.

The only "problem" I've seen, and for some users on the forums is the same,
is the browser (in my case, firefox) displaying the cache page instead of
the real one: because I opened the download page a couple of days ago, on
first load the page still offers 4.0.0. By reloading the page everything is
Ok and 4.0.1 is offered, but I wonder if there is any way to force a
browser to ignore the cache and reload the page.

Thanks a lot for your different tests. It shows that in general it is
working fine on a wide base of browsers - even with MSIE 8.

However, in some circumstances the website is not successfully shown and
the goal is to answer the "Why" question. At the moment I've no hint

No problem.

But in another thread I mentioned that on my system (Windows 7 64bit
English) in Internet Explorer 8 the table on
http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html is empty.

So, you mean this?
http://www.openoffice.org/download/ --> OK
http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html --> not OK

Yes.

I enabled 'debug mode' (or whatever) in my Internet Explorer 8.
It tells me the following:
At line 96 of download_other.js: "Object does not support this property
or method"

Line 96 is:
if ( PLATFORM.indexOf( "Win_x86" ) > -1 )

Best regards, Oliver.

Does somebody else experience the same?

No, on my office PC I've Windows 7 64-bit and MSIE 8. But no problems to
display both webpages. But after the latest changes I'll try again
tomorrow.

Re: Automating Error-prone Manual Release-related Files By Using Centralized Release Artifact Metadata

2013-10-01 Thread Marcus (OOo)

Am 10/01/2013 04:17 PM, schrieb Rob Weir:

Every time we release we need to generate quite a few files related to
the release.

Here's the list I know of:

1) The ASC/SHA/MD5 hashes and signature files, one for every released file

2) A CWiki page listing all the built files with hyperlinks to hashes, etc.

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Development+Snapshot+Builds#DevelopmentSnapshotBuilds-AOOSnapshot

A simplification would be to combine "languages.js" and "release_matrix.js".

But it needs to be filled with the data.

a) base URL of where the files live

http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/files/

>

My 2 ct.

I made that change, but recommending the Polish rather than the

I have committed and publish this change, but Polish is still missing.

I changed windows locale to Polish and green box on English site works.

Cool - we have made it finally.

Thx for taking care and testing.

Hm, maybe Polish was missing in one of the mails from Juergen which I

We're using scripts for these of course. With the more than 400 packages
we're providing everything else would be insane. The checksums should
and are created on the machines they are built on to help protect the
gigabytes of data as early as possible.

Jürgen uses a self written script for that. AFAIK it is not publically
available yet. If needed it can be rewritten with a few lines of a
script language.

Don't know about these. It would be stupid to do all of it manually. I
suggest the owners of these tasks share their scripts, e.g. in the
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/devtools/scripts/ directory.

I reload the page. Also the "Add" link, which used to be between the
"Share" and the "Tools" link is missing.

I was able to edit it (of course).

Best regards, Oliver.

Re: A little more eye candy for 4.0.1 release

2013-10-01 Thread Drew Jensen
Thanks,

I hope, if it is not too much trouble to get you to switch to the one I'm
uploading now - not only does it fix the problem on the closing screen, but
it also finishes the matting work to remove the final bitmap graphic - and
I really thought the yellow rays didn't quite meet the high standard for
the project. I'll post the new one directly to the AOO G+ site.
[Have cc'd Roberto as I'm not sure what the mailing list will do to that
style attachment

I also re-did the wallpapers, again so they where of appropriate quality.

Thinking that I've gotten close to doing what I set out for, and that is to
take a first stab at merging the color languages used in the AOO Logo
(Blue/White/Grey) and the ASF feather logo.

The best example I think are the new wallpaper designs (which I think will
also make for great opening screen on the next video, back to do the 4.0
release notes finally) and the second page on the print piece ThreeUP-GI.

well I still don't seem to be able to edit cwiki - I saw someone else
mention it yesterday, so I'll be patient and keep using google for today.

Here is the updated and IMO so much better video..

AOO_401-Daisies-svg.mp4

and I'm off to write up the G+ post - talking about how it is almost
entirely constructed in AOO 4.0.1, exported to SVG and mixed in OpenShot -
with InkScape and Gimp appearing in supporting roles - the power of FOOS ;)

The new wallpaper files are worth a look also - so be sure to check out the
AOO G+ community page later (w/in the hour).

@Rob - if you would not mind I would very much like to work with you on the
blog, I've got some ideas on how to work with the B/W photos, wouldn't be
surprised if my thoughts are not too far from what is behind your choices
there - but better in a different thread and maybe on the marketing list,
don't know. Let me know though if I can help with that, OK.

Thanks

Hi,

I can confirm that problem. I am not familiar with with cwiki, but I
added myself to "Directory of volunteers", where I currently also can't
find a way how to edit that page.

I'm sure it will be gone there too if
I reload the page. Also the "Add" link, which used to be between the
"Share" and the "Tools" link is missing.

I was able to edit it (of course).

Automating Error-prone Manual Release-related Files By Using Centralized Release Artifact Metadata

2013-10-01 Thread Rob Weir
Every time we release we need to generate quite a few files related to
the release.

Here's the list I know of:

1) The ASC/SHA/MD5 hashes and signature files, one for every released file

2) A CWiki page listing all the built files with hyperlinks to hashes, etc.

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Development+Snapshot+Builds#DevelopmentSnapshotBuilds-AOOSnapshot

This is used when voting on a Release Candidate.

3) release_matrix.js, used by the download page's logic to decide what
file to recommend based on user's locale:

http://www.openoffice.org/download/release_matrix.js

4) The other.html page that has a table listing all release files:

http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html

5) Another download page, on openoffice.apache.org, listing the source
and SDK links, along with hashes:

https://openoffice.apache.org/downloads.html

6) A flat list of all download URLs, used by the download stats script:

http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/devtools/aoo-stats/401.lst

7) The XML files used by the upgrade notification server, one XML file
per release:

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/ooo-site/trunk/content/projects/update38/ProductUpdateService/check.Update

I imagine this list will grow over time. Certainly new releases and
new translations cause us to update these files. And to the extent
they are manually created they will contain errors. Even if created
by automation, if we don't have a canonical data set that we're all
working from there is the opportunity for error.

So the big question: What can we do to improve on this?

1) Can we have a single, published, canonical, machine-readable
description of what is contained in a release, or even what is
contained in each build:

a) base URL of where the files live
b) based URL to where the hashes and signatures live
c) list of all language codes and platforms included in the build
d) defined rules for creating the full paths and file names given this
information.

2) Have such a data file for every past release, at least back to 3.4.0.

-Rob

Re: Enhancement Request for PDF X/3 Export

2013-10-01 Thread Fernand Vanrie

 Dave,

Not realy, the newest worklows are RGB based, the convertion to CMYK is
done after the PDF is made, make your RGB PDF's with Openoffice and
let your print shop do the convertion to there own (machine depended)
CMYK standards.
Converting RGB to CMYK is not a straight forward, print shops have the
specialised tools for better quality convertion.

Greetz

Fernand

Dear Developers,

I guess many users out there use OpenOffice for PDF-export to print shops.
These often require X/3-PDF with CMYK colour seperation instead of RGB. It
would be absolutely great if OpenOffice could include such an export filter.

Yours
Dave

[RELEASE] Urgent - Polish is missing in the release matrix

2013-10-01 Thread Oliver-Rainer Wittmann

Hi,

it looks like that Polish is missing in the 'release matrix' -
ooo-site/trunk/content/download/release_matrix.js

Because I do not feel experienced enough, I am hesitating to change the
'release matrix'.

Can someone with more experience update the 'release matrix?

My proposed insertion to release_matrix.js would be:

"pl":{"0": ['Linux_x86-64_install-deb',  'y', '154',
'Apache_OpenOffice_4.0.1_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_ast.tar.gz'],

'Apache_OpenOffice_4.0.1_Linux_x86-64_langpack-deb_ast.tar.gz'],
   "3": ['Linux_x86-64_langpack-rpm', 'y', ' 13',

   "6": ['Linux_x86_langpack-deb','y', ' 13',
'Apache_OpenOffice_4.0.1_Linux_x86_langpack-deb_ast.tar.gz'],
   "7": ['Linux_x86_langpack-rpm','y', ' 13',
'Apache_OpenOffice_4.0.1_Linux_x86_langpack-rpm_ast.tar.gz'],
   "8": ['Mac_x86_install',   'y', '162',
'Apache_OpenOffice_4.0.1_MacOS_x86_install_ast.dmg'],

  "11": ['Win_x86_langpack',  'y', ' 13',

Hi,

I can confirm that problem. I am not familiar with with cwiki, but I
added myself to "Directory of volunteers", where I currently also can't
find a way how to edit that page.

It seems currently cwiki only can be edited by very few persons?

I cannot edit pages in the cwiki either. I was able to do it last week, but
this week I can't, because the edit-page option is missing. Is this lock-out
a collateral damage of the release notes being protected?

The web page says: "No edit restrictions are defined for this page".
This is under Tools/Restrictions menu item. Do you see something
differenent?

I'm logged in and that Restrictions page says that:
No view restrictions are defined for this page
No edit restrictions are defined for this page

But the "Edit" link that used to be on the page (left to the "Share"
link) is missing. That edit link is still visible on a page that I
haven't refreshed since last week. I'm sure it will be gone there too if
I reload the page. Also the "Add" link, which used to be between the
"Share" and the "Tools" link is missing.

I was able to edit it (of course). It looks like Andrea was as well.

Do you happen to have the admin role in our CWikis?

Many thanks for your email. I can understand why you may not want to
encourage the deletion of templates. However, I think it is important that
publishers have a convenient means of editing their content as this provides
a mechanism to improve their templates and deal with any bugs.

We received a couple of requests in this sense so far, and we might be
able to offer such a feature at some point next year as far as this is

Hi,

I can confirm that problem. I am not familiar with with cwiki, but I
added myself to "Directory of volunteers", where I currently also can't
find a way how to edit that page.

It seems currently cwiki only can be edited by very few persons?

I cannot edit pages in the cwiki either. I was able to do it last week,
but this week I can't, because the edit-page option is missing. Is this
lock-out a collateral damage of the release notes being protected?

Enhancement Request for PDF X/3 Export

2013-10-01 Thread Dave
Dear Developers,

I guess many users out there use OpenOffice for PDF-export to print shops.
These often require X/3-PDF with CMYK colour seperation instead of RGB. It
would be absolutely great if OpenOffice could include such an export filter.

that publishers have a convenient means of editing their content as this
provides a mechanism to improve their templates and deal with any bugs.

We received a couple of requests in this sense so far, and we might be
able to offer such a feature at some point next year as far as this is
perceived as a must have for few devs.

For the time being please send me off-list the file and I'll make sure

Thank you! It would still be helpful for translators to have the keyid

them: the "kid" SDF file on trunk is up-to-date, the one for 4.0.1 is at
http://people.apache.org/~pescetti/tmp/2013-09-keyid/ since 4.0.1 was
open for blockers only.

A good idea. I created language packs for the keyid pseudo-localization

them next to the new languages [3]. Their Windows counterparts will

Seeing all the manual effort that is needed to build these localizations
I respectfully request that translators interested in having their
language supported do it before the localization deadline.

Some annoying building issues on Win7 (AOO 4.0.0)

2013-10-01 Thread Yuri Myasoedov
Hi!

I've found some annoying issues while building AOO (4.0.0) on Win7 (32-bit).

1. Some modules are built with wrong permissions. I have to fix it manually
with chmod. Some directories doesn't have x bit for execution, some files don't
have any permission bits (i.e. 000).
2. Many modules have source code that should include *comphelper* headers. And
I often get errors like this:

Making:all_configmgr.dpslo
Compiling: configmgr/wntmsci12.pro/misc/configmgr.uno_version.c
Compiling: configmgr/source/access.cxx
C:/aoo/main/configmgr/source/access.cxx(75) : fatal error C1083: Cannot open
include file: 'comphelper/sequenceasvector.hxx': No such file or directory
dmake: Error code 2, while making '../wntmsci12.pro/slo/access.obj'

i.e. these modules can't find *comphelper* header files.

Is there known solutions for such issues?

Yes, the version 2.7.1 of cygwin patch tool breaks our Windows build.
You already found the corresponding thread during the solution phase.

After the AOO 4.0.0 release I have made corresponding changes to patch

In your case - as you want to build AOO 4.0.0 (rev. 1503704) - I propose
