 Hi,

There only is no common sense whether key word should be used also for
very old regressions (regression in OOo 1.0.1 compared to OOo 1.0.0),
from developer's point of view only regressions in AOO 3.4-dev and later
 are of interest.

Generally problems with newly integrated features can not be
regressions. But if the code of a newly integrated feature damages an
older function so that it does not work correctly since integration,
that damage deserves key word regression.

But I do not think that many regression key words will have to be added.
The problem with the Bugs in the list is that at least one of following
mistakes is in data for the Bugs:
 * Version has been changed to 4.1 in error, example:
(Bug 105492 - Text Orientation Degrees Entry Field
 * It has not been tested with what Version the
   bug has appeared, example:
(Bug 124259 - mathvariant=normal is ignored on import of .mml file)

So far my personal thoughts, what are result of long co-working in open
 source projects,

communication is the key here. We have experienced QA volunteers who
know how to set the fields and we have volunteers with less experience.
I suggest that we clean up the various fields and update the how submit
a bug page with a clear and updated explanation of what we think is best.

If somebody is not sure it is best to let the fields unset or open and
ask on the QA list for support/help.

I agree with the proposed changes in general, and it would be nice if
Bugzilla still added automatic hyperlinks to issue 123456 when used in
a comment (I believe it wasn't working any longer - it worked only for
the bug 123456 pattern - some time ago; haven't checked recently).

I'd like that too. But unfortunately this auto-linkification [1] isn't
directly configurable. We'd need to write a hook for it [2].

[1] http://www.bugzilla.org/docs/2.20/html/hintsandtips.html
[2] https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=364254

But we'll need to provide such a hook a least when we switch to git
because autolinks from bugzilla into the repository are very valuable IMHO.

test build under macos 10.9

2014-03-12 Thread Jürgen Schmidt
Hi,

I have prepared a build on MacOS 10.9 to test the build env on such a
newer system. The good news is that I was able to build with only one
change to tweak a classpath for Oracle Java 7 (no Java from Apple).

But the bad news is that it crashed immediately on my 10.7 system. Does
anybody have a 10.8 system and is interested to do a quick check on this
platform? The test build can be found under
http://people.apache.org/~jsc/test/Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.0_MacOS_x86-64_install_en-US.dmg

Anyway the problem have to be solved because I want to upgrade my system
and we have to support 10.7.

I appreciate any feedback from a 10.8 user ;-)

[DOCUMENTATION] better installation guide - issue 124343 and issue 124400

2014-03-12 Thread Oliver-Rainer Wittmann

Hi,

Rainer recently noticed that our installation guides needs improvement -
see issues 124343 and 124400.
I am volunteering to take corresponding actions. But I need support and
feedback - I am neither a web designer nor a technical writer

Issue 124343:
This is about the visibility of the headings.
My suggestion here is to make the font used for the headings (all
levels) bold. Thus, I would like to propose to change our corresponding
CSS [1].

Please provide feedback regarding my suggestion.
Does it makes sense to make more or less all headings on our website bold?
Are there alternatives to improve the visibility of heading?
Should we make all heading italic or larger?

Issue 124400:
I will prepare the corresponding changes and I will ask for feedback
once the changes are on the staging server.

Thanks in advance for your review and feedback.

Best regards, Oliver.

Rainer has a point. I remember at one time that h3 (probably the main
concern here) used to display as described in styles.css

h3.subSection{font-style:italic;text-transform:uppercase;font-size:1.3em;font-weight:bold;}

I'm not sure what's changed to produce what's happening now.

css/ooo.css is the default supplied by Apache CMS but our local style
sheets, also brought in, should override this. (And, yes, they are a bit
of a mess!)

Well I can help with this but I'm not what the processing order is now.

What about to write All operating systems the ...? Then IMHO it is even
more clear that more items can/should be chosen.

Bugzilla's operating systems selector currently doesn't allow the
choice of multiple items. In my experience this is quite sufficient:
Most bugs/features are platform independent and if not then usually
either a whole platform family (e.g. all Windows, all Unix) or a
very specific platform (e.g. Windows Server 2003) are impacted by the
issue.

OK, maybe not the best wording. ;-)
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I meant that the user can then understand better that all affected OSs
have to be considered.

If he sees the issue on his WinXP system, then it's likely a Windows,
All issue. So, he should consider to choose this item - to cover all
other Windows OSs, too.

I can support you with the webdesign. Maybe it's gets a bit hard (when I

This is a central CSS file. Changes here would affect nearly all
webpages. This needs to be treated very carefully.

Does it makes sense to make more or less all headings on our website bold?

No, I'm pretty sure here and there it wouldn't be the intended style.

Are there alternatives to improve the visibility of heading?

Again no. ;-)

I would start with improving the text content. Then we should think
about the formatting.

What do you think?
