Found some more info online and looks like it is not going to be able to
do what I want. Appears that it is ONLY meant for being able to use
command line apps via a bash shell.

I have been able to build OpenOffice with latest gcc . That has been a while go
before my Laptop migration.
You have to set the fix to the right standard and you might have to set some
behaviour flags.
I check for my config and post it.

We would have to create a table with such correspondence. But the

The only solution seems to be Andrea's suggestion about adding
information when Linux is detected (this already happens when
Android
is detected so the mechanism is already there)

just an additional info instead of a (mandatory) choise is indeed
worth to think twice. I'll do it on the weekend and play a bit with
the download scripting.

When you are at it... ;-)

Did you have a chance to look at the needed changes for the updated
Release Policy?
https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=127530

yes, I know.

However, this is more complex as we have a dependency with versions:

If version == 4.1.5 or older,
then offer a link with the MD5 file.

If version == 4.1.6 or newer,
then do not offer a link .

I've to check how and where to insert this version check.

But let's see ;-)

Thanks for the hint.

OK, also this is ready for testing. Let's wait for the CMS.

Great!
How do you handle SHA? I understand that we should offer SHA512?

SHA256 is unchanged and shown as before.

Is the SHA512 hash data meanwhile integrated into the build process?
As long as it is not I cannot add this to the download site. But if
so, it's very easy to add it.

Generating hash data is done manually after the build process, but we
have a scripts for it:
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/devtools/release-scripts/

great, then the download scripting is awaiting the new hash data.

after the CMS is working again, I've now committed (but not yet
published !) my changes to ask for feeback:

1) For versions until 4.1.5 (our current one) links for MD5 hash values
are still offered but no longer for newer versions.

2) When Linux is choosen as platform, a new link "RPM vs. DEB = What to
choose?" is offered. When hovering with the mouse a text is shown in
which Linux distributions RPM and DEB packages are used.

Especially for topic #2, does it hit the spot?

Thanks

Marcus

Excellent! Thank you for confirming.

-disable-odk is included in the Step-by-step guide so that is what I will be
using

Ok. So any instructions on how to solve the dependencies problems I run into?

Thank you for the correction.

I also manage a laptop running 18.04 so I can also try it at a later stage but
I prefer to learn how to find/solve problems in my daily usage 16.04 machine.

JDK 8 is OK as long as you use --disable-odk in configure.
Hopefully we can get a patch into 4.1.6 that will allow us to build ODK
with Java 8.

I think I managed it with these instructions. But ignored most of the
warnings, as they are fixed already (either in Ubuntu or in AOO branch).

14.04 is still supported until 2019 (5 years for an LTS).
But 16.04 would be the next step.

Yes, I am aware of that. But it was suggested in this mailing list that since
14.04 is EOL and 16.04 will be supported until 2021, this should be the next
move.

Since I'm running 16.04 I volunteered to give it a run (my first time building
binaries) and check what are the differences/obstacles compared to what is
described for 12.04 and 14.04

If the people on the list are up to receiving newbie questions, I don't have
any problem in showing publicly my ignorance :)

Please consider filing an INFRA ticket with any new software versions that
might be needed on the Buildbots.
Also eqnuire about an extra 16.04 buildbot if needed.

Install the Slack app, or via the web goto the-asf.slack.com you will find
an #openoffice slack channel ready and waiting, been there quite some time
unused.

With HipChat going away, Slack is the option to use now.

Help building AOO416 on Ubuntu 16.04

2018-10-14 Thread Pedro Lino
Hi all

I have come across the first two problems:

1) E: Package 'openjdk-7-jdk' has no installation candidate

I installed openjdk-8 instead

2) The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libgstreamer-ocaml : Depends: ocaml-base-nox-4.02.3
Conflicts: libgstreamer-ocaml:i386 but 0.2.0-2build2 is to be installed
libgstreamer-ocaml:i386 : Conflicts: libgstreamer-ocaml but 0.2.0-2build2 is to
be installed
libgstreamer-ocaml-dev : Depends: ocaml-nox-4.02.3
Depends: ocaml-findlib but it is not going to be installed
Conflicts: libgstreamer-ocaml-dev:i386 but 0.2.0-2build2 is to be installed
libgstreamer-ocaml-dev:i386 : Depends: ocaml-nox-4.02.3:i386
Depends: libgstreamer1.0-dev:i386 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgstreamer-plugins-base1.0-dev:i386 but it is not going to be
installed
Conflicts: libgstreamer-ocaml-dev but 0.2.0-2build2 is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Help?

Is someone going to be online today on IRC or available for direct email? I
think these newbie problems don't belong in the dev mailing list.

Regards,

Pedro
