Well, as far as I've seen, at least to have it in the Debian repositories, there are many things but I don't have time to do it according to the DFSG guidelines. So, I've been maintaining the repository (almost 10 years now) to make it easier for sysadmins to maintain their groups of desktops updated. Remember, it's simple to update your AOO just downloading the new version and typing "dpkg -i *.deb", but it's more complicated when you have one group of desktops to be updated.
