[dev] Build with 4nt

2005-10-13 Thread Rajith Ravi

hi
i would like to know whether successful OOo1.1.4 build with 4nt is
possible? . The build requirements in the OpenOffice website says it is
possible. But from the responses in the mailing list(now im not getting any
mails) i think that evrey one is asking to build with cygwin tools. Can anyone
tell the reason..

Plz Im stuck up with stlport error in OOo1.1.4(tried with OOo1.1.2)

build environment:windows2000 SP4,4nt,VC6SP6

Re: [dev] Example of use of the configuration

2005-10-13 Thread Michele Zarri
Thanks Andrew,

took a look at your examples, but I am not sure anymore if the configuration
service is really what I want...

I guess that what I want is similar to creating a registry entry under
windows XP. When OOo is opened (ideally already with the quick start) a
string (i.e. the path to the file I want to open) is made available to the
macros. (How/where the macros will read it will be the subject of a
subsequent email :) )

Cheers,

Michele

 Hi,

I hope this is the right list, if not, apologies.
I have written a macro that relies on a configuration file where I store
some parameters. I would like to avoid to re-open the file every time the
macro is executed so I would like writer to remember whether the file
 has
been opened or not for a given session. I cannot use global constants
because from time to time I need to change the configuration parameters
 (I
have also created the macros to do it).
Although the file is quite small and it takes no time to open it and
 parse
it, I would still like to use a more generic approac.
Not knowing the Java language I gave up on the developer's guide
 paragraph
on configuration, so my questions are:
 1) is there a place where the developers guide examples are translated
 in
 OOoBasic?
 2) is there somewhere an example of storing configuration parameters?

 Cheers,

 Michele

I have some old examples in section 5.5 and 5.7 of my free macro document.

Hi Michele,

I guess that what I want is similar to creating a registry entry under

The configuration is the OOo equivalent of the Windows registry. Like
the registry it is a hierarchical database. It differs from the Windows
registry in that we require keeping track of what entries can go where
by means of a schema. You can't simply create a value of any type
anywhere within the hierarchy; instead you need to have a schema that
describes your value, its data type and possibly default value (or a
container where you can put arbitrary values).

When OOo is opened (ideally already with the quick start) a
string (i.e. the path to the file I want to open) is made available to the
macros. (How/where the macros will read it will be the subject of a

Unless you can accomodate you data within an existing OOo configuration
schema, you need to install a configuration schema of your own with your
macro (you can deploy configuration schemas as part of UNO packages).
When the schema is installed, you can have your macro read or write the
data at any time. The data is loaded when it is first read and then kept
in memory (unless it isn't referenced in 15 minutes, in which case it
may get unloaded).

Re: [dev] I want to contribute in programming

2005-10-13 Thread Christian Junker
Hi Samuel,

sure it can be useful. With your VB.NET and C# knowledge you could for
example contribute to the OpenOffice.org SDK which in its 680 verions
ships with .NET examples, api is the correct project for this.

2005/10/12, Samuel Johan [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
I'm a microsoft certified in VB.NET. I'm just wondering if I can contribute
something. I knew little bit of Microsoft C# and I have Microsoft Visual
studio 2005. I'm just wondering if this can be useful.

[dev] Happy Birthday OpenOffice.org!

2005-10-13 Thread Louis Suarez-Potts

All,

FIVE YEARS OF OPENOFFICE.ORG, MORE TO COME

13 October, 2005 - 1400 UTC

On this day, five years ago, the fledgling OpenOffice.org community
provided the first public access to the source code donated from
StarOffice by Sun Microsystems. The OpenOffice.org community had
recently been formed, and declared it's intent to create, as a
community, the leading international office suite that will run on all
major platforms and provide access to all functionality and data. Since
then, the popularity and functionality of the OpenOffice.org office
productivity suite has grown exponentially and has had a major impact
not only in the greater Open Source community, but for all users of
office productivity software, worldwide.

The last five years have not only seen significant improvements in the
software, but also a notable growth in the community and a number of
organisational changes. These changes include the tremendous growth of
the Native Language Confederation, which now numbers thousands of
contributors, the establishment of a Community Council, and the
Engineering Steering Committee, both of which go a long way to improving
communication and transparency in one of the largest open-source
communities. OpenOffice.org developers and contributors number in the
thousands and they live in every part of the globe. From its early days
to now, OpenOffice.org has been international in scope and mission.

Significant contributions from many organisations including Novell, Red
Hat, Debian, Propylon, Intel and primary sponsor Sun Microsystems,
ensure the ongoing presence and support of OpenOffice.org. Independent
contributors also make a considerable impact in terms of code
development, marketing, translation, documentation and web presence.

The OpenOffice.org community looks forward to the continuing the
expansion, enhancement and innovation of technologies within the suite.

One thing is certain, there is more to come.

Thanks to all,

The OpenOffice.org Community
