[dev] Contributing to Writer for OpenOffice.org
I am a hobbyist C++ programmer who has been using Writer for a while now and I've had a couple of bugs/enhancements that have been annoying me. I've decided I want to personally do something about. The bugs/enhancements are issue 2838 and related issues. Other than these I found Writer perfectly suits my uses. It has saved me money from investing in MS Office and I wish to return the favor through my time and efforts by not only first fixing issues which have been annoying me, but then working on the most popular issues as well. I have a good and amount of time in my daily schedule I can devote to this. I am a Windows based programmer, but I have worked on cross platform projects as well (Ogre3D comes to mind). This e-mail is to serve a few purposes: 1:Introduce me to the dev team 2:Inform the team of my intentions (to insure there are no conflicts) 3:Ask for suggestions anyone of the dev team may have. (Possible starting points, etc...) Thanks and I look forward to working with all of you. Charles Lupton (A.K.A. Kreationz)

Hi Charles, have a look here: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Main_Page#Getting_started_with_OOo_development and here: http://sw.openoffice.org/ http://tools.openoffice.org/ for starting points. and than you might probably want to join the [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list of the writer development team in addition to this list. Re: [dev] AutoUpdate of Office via web
Hi ! KAMI wrote: Will Ingo provide such configure switch? Until that how can enable it in the right way? I do not think a configure switch for enabling online update is on anyones task list yet. Also I have to admit making this feature easily re-usable by others wasn't one of the primary design goals, mostly because other OOo vendors did already have their own update channel. So unless you come up with a patch yourself to introduce a configure switch for enabling online update (which I would happily review), the easiest way for you is probably to go with the patch you already have.
