[OSM-dev] Night of the living maps today! Statistics?

2012-02-07 Thread Matthias Meißer
Hi, as you have noticed for sure, today evening starts
www.nightofthelivingmaps.org , a LAN-party for Mappers ;)
We will tag our contributions with #notlm, to trigger for statistics
and renderings. Pascal Neis will do a portal for competitions, but maybe
somebody of you can log statistics, please? This might be interesting,
as a lot of people will contribute but not attend to the local parties.
Will give us a good impression on how much people contributed in reality.

Thanks
Matthias

Have groups declared special areas of interest that could me monitored
graphically?

Be sure to remind pepole to save early, save often as this might make
for nicer progress picture than one huge batch saved when people go to bed.

I expect that we will work mostly near the citie of the parties or at
least the states. A discussion started here
http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=15409
But as people will join virtually by tracing from home, it's hard to
limit it to certain areas :/

Good point.

Re: [josm-dev] Creating a user-friendly changelog for tested release

2012-02-07 Thread Simon Legner
Hi,

On 30/01/12 15:07, Josh Doe wrote:
I would suggest that we create a single set of changes between each
tested release, separating the changes by major/minor enhancements,
and major bugs (leaving minor bugs to be found via tickets). I believe
this would be more helpful for users rather than seeing a long list of
major changes (but missing some minor ones), without any visual
demarcation telling them what has changed from the version they're
 using to the last tested.

I like this idea as it provides more insight to JOSM development for
casual users. Furthermore, I always like to read a list of new features
of any product.

For this reason, I've created a wiki page:
http://josm.openstreetmap.de/wiki/Changelog For the most recent stable
release, I went through the commit messages and put together a list of
(in my opinion) interesting changes. Note that the classification is
subjective, and feel free to add/remove/move any item.

Cheers,
Simon

PS: Do we really have so little major enhancements? :-)

We mainly develop stuff step-by-step and most time that means you wont
notice a major enhancement usually, as it is broken into a lot of small
ones.

Thanks

[josm-dev] Keyboard shortcuts on Mac - move map doesn't work

2012-02-07 Thread Stefan Aschenbach
Hi,

somehow JOSM (4900) doesn't recognize any key strokes for moving the map.

Neither the standard entries nor self-mapped keys work under the map: move to
? (German: Karte: nach ? verschieben)
entry in the mapping table. I've even tried really simple keys, in case the
arrow keys or modifiers are to blame.

Is this a known problem? Am I doing it wrong? I expected the main map view to
move when I hit the keys.
(Zoom in/out works as expected...)

Thanks,

Stefan

Thank you Simon for creating the page :) I have translated the changelog in
French and will maintain this translation.
I've also completed the new things that can be registered by plugins ;)

No. But extra arguments are in the global Javascript array argv.

Re: [OSM-dev] Toronto Hack Weekend 16-18 March, 2012

2012-02-07 Thread Martijn van Exel
That is so tempting! Hmm. Flights from SLC are $750. The train takes
63 hours and still costs $500 (add a bed and it's $1500). It's a 2 day
drive. Let me consider all this for a moment

That helps. I solved my problem with a little shell scripting. Thanks.
