Looking for a freemind maintainer
Hi all, I am looking for a new freemind maintainer. I've stated the reason for this in this mail to java-devel: http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/java-devel/2012-November/004561.html Perhaps someone would like to take over... Cannot change fedora-cvs flag on bugzilla
Hi all, Having some trouble for this package review request: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=877705 It has been approved, but I can't set the fedora-cvs flag. I did not notice the differences when mock building locally, but on the plague RPM Fusion builder it took 2 hours on F16/F17 and 30 (sic!) on F18 to build mame. Suspecting memory usage issue I already added %global optflags %{optflags} -Wl,--no-keep-memory -Wl,--reduce-memory-overheads to the spec file. Thank you for the input in advance. Here's one difference between F18 and earlier that does affect memory usage: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/DwarfCompressor See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=833311 and /etc/rpm/macros.dwz for further info on memory consumption and tunables. But then this is the same in rawhide and f18 so it doesn't explain why the build takes *that* much longer on f18. - Panu - Is there a macro to disable this from within the spec so that I can check whether dwz is the culprit? Problem with F17 yum requesting old repodata?
Posting here, mainly because I'm not really sure where else to ask... I run a Fedora mirror (mirror.hiwaay.net). I noticed that I have been seeing a significantly higher HTTP request rate than normal. My mirror usually sees a couple of hundred requests per minute, but it has been running a steady 1500 requests per minute for most of today. It hit 4000 requests per minute around mid-day Wednesday (US Central time). I poked through the logs, and I see lots of requests for the file: /pub/fedora/linux/updates/17/x86_64/repodata/34881e74623de1754bf0e12f01884bea615fdcee05eded189f22d41bf9d4260b-other.sqlite.bz2 That file no longer exists; it was on my mirror from 21:12 Monday to 22:17 Tuesday. I see the same IP requesting that file (and getting a 404 error) a dozen times in less than a minute. I'm guessing there's either a yum bug or a broken repo push that is: - causing yum to try to fetch an out-of-date repodata file - causing it to try over and over again rapidly This is accounting for about a third of all requests to my mirror right now. -- Chris Adams cmad...@hiwaay.net Systems and Network Administrator - HiWAAY Internet Services I don't speak for anybody but myself - that's enough trouble. -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel

Once upon a time, Kevin Fenzi ke...@scrye.com said: Strange. Could be the previous days updates push, but then it should be getting new repodata/seeing the change from the metalink. It is always the *-other.sqlite.bz2 file. I do see some clients requesting files from different pushes (different filename hash), but I think when I'm seeing the same IP do that it is different clients behind a NAT system. It should also be normally trying multiple mirrors, not a bunch of times to the same one. :( Of course, I'm only looking at my logs, so it could be making such requests of multiple mirrors (before cycling around and trying mine again). Is it all the same IP? Perhaps a horribly misconfigured machine... Nope, it is all over the map. I do see the same IPs come up over and over again though, but again, some appear to be big NAT boxes (so could be a few clients trying repeatedly, or a bunch of clients trying sequentially, although it would be odd for them to be evenly spread out). Actually, when I account for the different hashes and arches, the failing requests for updates/17/*/repodata/*-other.sqlite.bz2 files are accounting for almost 2/3 of all HTTP requests to my mirror. I am not seeing any FTP requests; does yum try FTP these days?
