 I expect myself, ajax or glisse need to step up to this, I'm

 Yeah, I can take this on. I will caution that most bugs in any of
 the language frontends are probably just going to be immediately
 moved to upstream, and I'm mostly going to lean on the secondary
 arch maintainers for arch-specific bugs. (And that I am absolutely
 _not_ owning it in EPEL or RHEL, though if someone else wants to
 I'm happy to advise.) But other than that, sure, why not.

Great! I've just released the package, please take it up at your

Saw oops message in the another message. Its looks like a network
device related crash - possibly hardware related (its very hard to
tell).
What's the machine hardware configuration?

Beyond that, can you upgrade (.) the machine to something
maintained? In this case (given the apparent age of the hardware) RHEL
5.x or CentOS 5.x? Both should be more-or-less comparable to your
existing FC5 setup, but will carry many (!!!) stability and security
enhancement compared to your existing FC5 installation.

Considering this is the -devel list this shouldn't even really be here
anyway - the users list would be more appropriate...

As Gilboa already mentioned FC5 is well out of support in addition to this
- there are no updates (security, bugfixes, etc for this) so CentOS5 would
be far more appropriate from a software perspective and you really need to
carry out some hardware tests such as memtest.

The Fedora packages already have native systemd units. Creating your own
shouldn't be necessary, although you would probably need to extend the
stock unit file to get the proper ordering with respect to hylafax and
iaxmodem.

Review Swap Request

2013-02-27 Thread Ralph Bean
I'm working on the unbundling effort for python-requests. One
stepping stone in that path is the following review request (for which
I am soliciting potential reviewers):

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=907688

That one is the highest priority, but there are a few other reviews I'd like
to promote. This first one is needed for python-moksha-hub's latest test
suite:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=909644

And this second one is needed for python-tw2-core's latest test suite:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=914793

If you have any interest in swapping reviews (or other labor) please
let me know.

Thanks-

2013-02-27 Thread Gilboa Davara
(Sorry for top posting - mobile)
Looking at the screenshot you sent it looks like network device driver
(bnx2) related crash.

Given how old both hardware and software are, there is no way of knowing
what was the root cause of this crash by looking at the screenshot.

Start by running memtest - if it passes without fault and you continue to
experience kernel crashes you should really replace Fedora with CentOS.

 Thanks very much for adding me as a co-maintainer. I guess that you
 probably don't have much time for updating the Tor package, so I'm glad
 to be on board and will be taking a very active role in maintaining the
 package so that you can spend time on other things. I have some package
 cleanup tasks lined up and will be closing the security bugs on our
 bugzilla very soon.

 I will revert most of your changes. please avoid to apply your personal
 style (e.g. whitespaces vs. tabs) on a package where you are a comaintainer
 for  1 week.

 Although some of the changes might be useful, it is impossible for me to
 distinguish between them because they were all in an huge commit.

Hi Enrico,

I want to clarify that my whitespace changes were an attempt to make the
spec more legible for everyone, not myself. I also feel it would have
been nicer for you to ask me to revert the changes rather than
reverting them yourself, since I did go through the effort of making the
changes and helping you to update and fix the package, but that's just a
small suggestion.

Anyway, I agree that it would perhaps have been better to split the
commit into chunks. Thus, I post below a patch series that includes all
the various changes in easily digestible chunks.

http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0001-Remove-release_func-macro.patch

http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0002-Cleanup-systemd-macros.patch

http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0003-Remove-unnecessary-EPEL-5-tags-and-macros.patch

http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0004-Unify-core-systemd-and-torify-into-one-package.patch

http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0005-Remove-dependency-on-fedora-user-mgmt.patch

http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0006-Remove-unnecessary-Requires-on-logrotate-directory.patch

http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0007-Use-defaults-torrc-as-recommended-by-upstream.patch

http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0008-Change-var-log-tor-permissions-to-match-upstream.patch

All of these help to bring the package closer both to our packaging
guidelines and upstream defaults and requests.

Kind regards,

I just want to clarify here the reasoning for each patch.

 http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0001-Remove-release_func-macro.patch

This custom macro is rather confusing to hard to understand There's no
real need for it.

 http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0002-Cleanup-systemd-macros.patch

This custom macro here just makes it harder to read the spec as the bits
inside are not in the place that most people would expect.

 http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0003-Remove-unnecessary-EPEL-5-tags-and-macros.patch

Not needed for Fedora 17 and 18. I have adopted your orphaned EPEL 5 and
EPEL 6 branches, and I'm fine with these macros not being present in the
Fedora specs.

 http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0004-Unify-core-systemd-and-torify-into-one-package.patch

The main tor package is empty. There is no reason for it to be, and no
reason for the others to be subpackages.

 http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0005-Remove-dependency-on-fedora-user-mgmt.patch

This is an unnecessary dependency and I see no benefit for it.

 http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0006-Remove-unnecessary-Requires-on-logrotate-directory.patch

This is not required.

 http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0007-Use-defaults-torrc-as-recommended-by-upstream.patch

This will help to make sure some sane defaults are set. This was
recommended by upstream.

 http://jamielinux.fedorapeople.org/tor/0008-Change-var-log-tor-permissions-to-match-upstream.patch

This matches the defaults in the upstream RPM packages.

The SPEC is also 100 lines shorter :)

Maintainers wanted for packages from 2013-02-27 FESCo Meeting

2013-02-27 Thread Toshio Kuratomi
Greetings,

At today's FESCo meeting there were two tickets which had the end result
of needing to have new maintainers and comaintainers for some packages:

== https://fedorahosted.org/fesco/ticket/1028 ==

tor package was reassigned to a new maintainer. Former maintainer dropped
ownership of his other packages. Those are now orphaned and in need of a
new owner. Note to potential new maintainers: although not mandatory, you
may want to open an optional re-review request as the spec files for some
of these may be very out of sync with the current Fedora Packaging Guidelines

* clamav
* dhcp-forwarder
* fedora-usermgmt (epel branches still owned by ensc)
* gif2png
* hunt
* ip-sentinel
* kismet
* libextractor
* libtasn1
* milter-greylist
* mimetic
* util-vserver
* x11-ssh-askpass
* xmlrpc-c
* dietlibc (devel is still owned by ensc but maybe that was an oversight)

== https://fedorahosted.org/fesco/ticket/1091 ==

Non Responsive Maintainer ticket for mediawiki. The mediawiki package was
assigned a new maintainer due to nonresponse. The former owner owns other
packages as well. Fesco asks that comaintainers be solicited for these
packages. If package maintainer is nonresponsive for more packages,
consider performing the Mass Orphaning clause of the Nonresponsive
Maintainers Policy:

* fakeroot -- Gives a fake root environment
* fedora-package-config-apt -- Fedora configuration files for the apt-rpm

* smart -- Next generation package handling tool
* synaptic -- Graphical frontend for APT package manager.

Toshio

Orphaning the-board

2013-02-27 Thread Cosimo Cecchi
Hi all,

The the-board project hasn't seen almost any development upstream and it
currently doesn't build in rawhide due to previous gjs API changes.
I just don't have the time to try and reviving it these days, so I'll
orphan the package.

Cheers,

 Hi all,

 The the-board project hasn't seen almost any development upstream and it
 currently doesn't build in rawhide due to previous gjs API changes.
 I just don't have the time to try and reviving it these days, so I'll orphan
 the package.

I spoke to the upstream maintainer about this the other day. I suggest
you actually retire it properly rather than just orphan it, if
development picks up it can be re-reviewed.

assigned a new maintainer due to nonresponse. The former owner owns other
packages as well. Fesco asks that comaintainers be solicited for these
packages. If package maintainer is nonresponsive for more packages,
consider performing the Mass Orphaning clause of the Nonresponsive

I tried to add myself to these two, but I was facing packagedb errors

correctly. - Some packagedb admin please cross check the status.

This package already is co-maintained by me for quite a while.

Update to 1.23

- New upstream release 1.23
  - Synchronize JSON::Syck with YAML::Syck version number
  - Add DumpInto functions (YAML+Syck), which dump into a provided scalar
instead of a newly-allocated one
  - Modify DumpFile functions to output directly to the specified
file/filehandle instead of buffering all output in memory
  - Avoid modifying numbers into strings when emitting
  - Fix error message typo: s/existant/existent/g
  - Fix for non-printable character detection
  - Quote if non-printable characters are present
  - Make sure that LoadBlessed=0 blocks all blessing
  - Start listing primary repo as http://github.com/toddr/YAML-Syck
  - README refreshed via perldoc -t
- Require perl(XSLoader) at runtime
- Drop %defattr, redundant since rpm 4.4
- Don't need to remove empty directories from the buildroot
- Don't use macros for commands
- Use DESTDIR rather than PERL_INSTALL_ROOT
- Make %files list more explicit

[389-devel] Please review: [389 Project] #490: Slow role performance when using a lot of roles

2013-02-27 Thread Noriko Hosoi

https://fedorahosted.org/389/ticket/490

https://fedorahosted.org/389/attachment/ticket/490/0001-Ticket-490-Slow-role-performance-when-using-a-lot-of.patch

Bug description: Role uses the virtual attribute framework.
When the search with a filter including nsrole or a return
attribute list containing nsrole is being processed, the
virtual attribute code checks the entry if the vattr values
are valid or not by examining the watermark. If it is valid,
the values are used as if they are static. If it is not
valid, the entry is evaluated against the role definitions
and dynamically generated virtual attributes are set to the
list (e_virtual_attrs) with the proper watermark.

The current code additionally checks e_virtual_attrs to determine
the entry is already evaluated or not. If it is NULL, it
considers the entry is not yet evaluated and it returns SLAPI_
ENTRY_VATTR_NOT_RESOLVED even if the watermark is valid. That
is, all the entries which do not have virtual attributes are
unnecessarily evaluated every time search with nsrole is executed.

Fix description: This patch does not return SLAPI_ENTRY_VATTR_NOT_
RESOLVED but does SLAPI_ENTRY_VATTR_RESOLVED_ABSENT if e_virtual_
attrs is NULL AND the watermark is valid. By skipping the not-
needed nsrole evaluation, it speeds up the virtual search once
virutual attribute values are placed in the entries in memory.

Comment:
 Using test data having 86568 entries in total; 98 nsRoleDefinition entries
 and 61542 nsRoleDn among them...

 Sample command line:
 ldapsearch -LLLx -h localhost -p 389 -D 'cn=directory manager' -w password
 -b dc=example,dc=com (nsrole=cn=CN0,o=O0,dc=example,dc=com) nsrole
 It returns 3291 entries with 8321 nsrole attribute values.

 With the patch:
 nsslapd-ndn-cache-enabled: on
 No entries in cache: 0m49.308s
 All entries in cache: 0m0.181s

 nsslapd-ndn-cache-enabled: off
 No entries in cache: 0m51.792s
 All entries in cache: 0m0.210s

 Without the patch:
 nsslapd-ndn-cache-enabled: on
 No entries in cache: 0m50.579s
 All entries in cache: 0m9.599s

 nsslapd-ndn-cache-enabled: off
 No entries in cache: 0m52.727s
 All entries in cache: 0m9.857s

 The patch has no impact on the elapsed time to generate virtual attributes
 (No entries in cache). But once they are evaluated and placed in the
 entry cache, we could see the improvement (All entries in cache). Please
 note that if all the entries in the database have virtual attributes, this
 patch would have no effect.

 In addition, I tested with nsslapd-ndn-cache-enabled: on and off. It's
 not huge, but we could recognize steady improvement. I recommend to
 enable the functionality, by default or at least, advertise it more (on
 1.3.0 or newer)...
