Again, what you're saying makes sense but if you don't file tickets,
it won't get fixed.

seriously?

Probably.

with that argumentation Fedora would drop i686 at all
No. darktable handles the situation on sse3-less CPUs gracefully at
run-time.

The actually problem is darktable wanting to be compiled with -msse3,
which means being compiled with a Fedora incompatible instruction set,
on both i386 and x86_64.

well, i don't have any non x86_64 machien but the argumentation is bous
You are right, these days in professional PC-usage, i686ers likely are
rare and hard to find.

But in personal (private) PC-usage, the situation is different. There,
5/6-year old 32bit PCs are still wide spread and will be supported by
Windows for many years. Also consider, people are using Linux on such
machines to extend these machines life time.

Feel free to drop the i386, if you want drop the end-user/desktop market
and to leave this market to Ubuntu, Debian and other distributions.

According to my system, it has SSSE3. Is it SSE3?

That's what my question actually was about.

I see ssse3 on all my x86_64ers, I see sse3 on my 32bit atoms, but I
don't know if ssse3 implies sse3 and I don't know what -msse3 actually
does to the instruction set when being used on x86_64ers and which
impact it has (-msse3 is not part of Fedora's gcc implicit CFLAGS).

any system not older than 10 years has SSE3 and frankly systems older
than 10 years are hardly a traget for Fedora at all

So, Fedora or Linux as a resort to escape Windows on old HW is not a
Fedora target anymore?

That may not be necessary if the app already fails in a friendly way on
old CPUs (as opposed to hanging or mysterious crashes).

I think building it with SSE3 is better than excluding the architecture
entirely. And FYI, requiring SSE3 is not really allowed even for x86_64 (you
are allowed to assume only SSE2), so by that argument, there is no
architecture left.
ACK. Does anybody know if there are any x86_64/64bit-CPUs which do not
support sse3?

I don't see sse3 in /proc/cpuinfo of any machine I have, but I also
don't see any runtime error/warning from darktable.

Of course, a better solution would be to fix the package to work on all CPUs
you support.

ACK.

But if upstream doesn't care, it's going to be a problem. :-(
Exactly - That's the actual problem. Upstream does not care and Fedora
seems unable to address this issue.

Getopt-Long 3.48 fixed gnu_getopt compatibility mode. In that mode, it consider
"--fo bar" as an option and a positional argument because gnut_getopt mode
would requires "--foo=bar" syntax to make the "bar" a value of "foo" option.

If sql-split uses that mode, you have to call it as -E=t/data/create_table.sql.
If not, it's probably a regressions in the Getopt::Long.

git commits mess up

2015-11-06 Thread Germano Massullo
I have done some mistakes in [1]

1) I edited the file once to remove 32 bit CPU support, then I have done
the push to master
2) I saw that I have forgotten to add changelog, so I edited the file
again, I made a new push to master
3) I started merging the F21 branch to the master and I got the conflict

I have found a solution like [2], but I am afraid of making things get
worse...

Thank you for your time

It actually lives at qt.io, and is deprecated there. Qt 5.5 is the last
release series that includes it. Qt 5.6 will no longer include it in the
tarballs. (We will likely keep QtWebKit 5.5 or a git snapshot available,
similarly to how this is done with webkitgtk 2.4, but security updates will
be limited to what we can backport ourselves.)

The situation for Konqueror is even worse because it is stuck on Qt 4 (but
then again, the Qt 5 QtWebKit is not significantly more modern than the Qt 4
one (we ship the unofficial "QtWebKit 2.3" release branch for Qt 4, which
matches what early Qt 5 shipped)).

> I don't know what the security story is there, but I imagine

The reasons they switched (I was against it) include that, and compatibility
with some websites. The big issue is that Firefox does not integrate at all
into KDE Plasma. I think Fedora KDE should really have sat out that one
release cycle on Konqueror and targeted QtWebEngine for F24.

QtWebEngine is definitely the plan for F24. The most likely browser
candidate (if Konqueror and/or Rekonq don't get a sudden revival of upstream
activity) is probably Qupzilla, which already has experimental QtWebEngine
support, and which has some amount of KDE integration. (It uses Qt, it
should get KDE file dialogs through the KDE/Plasma Qt platform plugin, it
explicitly supports KWallet through the QtKeychain abstraction.)

If you add 'no_ignore_case' to Getopt::Long::Configure in bin/sql-split, it
will fix the issue.

Due to the last changes in Getopt::Long 2.48, the bundling is disabled when
gnu_compat is enabled. And it causes that single character options are not
treated case-sensitive.

See:

I guess, you could rebuild EL5 package (it's 2.6.8 + security pacthes),
rules for 2.5 should run fine with 2.6.x.

AFAIK, we don't keep the old version of the package in the repo.

Yes. After every "batch" of commits to nunc-stans the version should be

It looks like the only saslmethod support is gssapi. I think I'd
document that in the method header.

Okay I'll add that

What about autobind? Should that be supported as well?
This can be done via a separate ticket - there was no immediate need for
it (yet)

Thanks,

I am also trying to figure this out. Looking at actual
packaged golang things in Fedora, I see quite a difference
between the drafts and what I see in specfiles. There
are a lot of macros copied everywhere.

Is there any more up to date guidance? It would be an
improvement to even just copy/paste emails of discussions
into the bottom of the wiki draft.

Hi,

I rebuilt most of my packages with the f24-python3 side tag yesterday.
However, I had to modify the spec file for two of them (python-svgwrite
and python-snappy) and I built them for rawhide today.

From what I understand, the f24-python3 side tag will be merge in
rawhide in some time, so if my package in rawhide have a higher version
in rawhide than in f214-python3, it may cause trouble. So I wander if I
should rebuilt them again with the f24-python3 tag to include my latest
modifications in f24-python3?

Fedora Release Tools team - some house keeping and process changes

2015-11-06 Thread Amanda Carter
For anyone who isn't already aware, I've partnered with the Fedora release
tooling folks to help organize work and communication into and out of the team.
The team is focused on tooling & process in support of the release engineering
functions of Fedora. The core team consists of Adam Miller, Kushal Das, Dennis
Gilmore, Luke Macken & Sayan Chowdhury with special guest appearances as
needed. I've been working with the team for a couple of months now on a trial
basis and we're making it more official post-F23. We're making a few changes in
our process to make things more transparent and predictable...

* moving our project work into Taiga [1] & using its kanban board to track what
we're doing
* publishing our commitments for Fedora releases and our priority pipeline [2]
so that it's easier to see what's planned (this includes being more diligent
about filing changes for bigger items)
* regular meetings with some stakeholders to make sure that we're getting the
right input to the team (I am always open to hear from anyone so shout at me if
you need to)
* regular backlog grooming meetings with the team to review our priorities on a
weekly or biweekly basis
* monthly live demos of our completed work

This is still unfolding and we're working out kinks and getting into the swing
of things, so please bear with us as we do. I wanted to get this note out to
you all (and feel free to forward) to make sure that everyone was aware of the
changes and can get engaged in the process. If you have questions, feedback or
need to reach out at any time, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

it does not need to Forward the old way hence "ForwardToSyslog=no" and
instead "$ModLoad imjournal" which is nothing new but don't work at
Rawhide currecntly while it dooes on F20/F21/F22/f23

to say it in other words: i did not ask for "probably", just pointed out
that Rawhide is currently broken, that probably systemd or probably
rsyslog is broken in the one or other direction is clear

Re: [EPEL-devel] I need a copy of mod_security-2.5.12-2.el6.x86_64

2015-11-06 Thread Ken Dreyer
Yeah, the Koji build has been deleted as well:
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=242226

It would be a good idea to update your rules for 2.7. That
mod_security-2.5.12-2.el6 build is over four years old and subject to
several CVEs...

CVE-2013-5705
apache2/modsecurity.c in ModSecurity before 2.7.6 allows remote
attackers to bypass rules by using chunked transfer coding with a
capitalized Chunked value in the Transfer-Encoding HTTP header.

CVE-2013-2765
The ModSecurity module before 2.7.4 for the Apache HTTP Server allows
remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer
dereference, process crash, and disk consumption) via a POST request
with a large body and a crafted Content-Type header.

CVE-2013-1915
ModSecurity before 2.7.3 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary
files, send HTTP requests to intranet servers, or cause a denial of
service (CPU and memory consumption) via an XML external entity
declaration in conjunction with an entity reference, aka an XML
External Entity (XXE) vulnerability.

CVE-2012-4528
The mod_security2 module before 2.7.0 for the Apache HTTP Server
allows remote attackers to bypass rules, and deliver arbitrary POST
data to a PHP application, via a multipart request in which an invalid
part precedes the crafted data.

CVE-2012-2751
ModSecurity before 2.6.6, when used with PHP, does not properly handle
single quotes not at the beginning of a request parameter value in the
Content-Disposition field of a request with a multipart/form-data
Content-Type header, which allows remote attackers to bypass filtering
rules and perform other attacks such as cross-site scripting (XSS)
attacks. NOTE: this vulnerability exists because of an incomplete fix
for CVE-2009-5031.

I would go even as far as to say that nobody who has an older than a 11 year old computer would even try to launch Darktable. And your solution is to just kill it off, because a few ancient computers can't run it?

Best of luck with this. It's important to have a well-integrated web
browser based on a modern rendering engine. I expect you'll have that in the
KDE spin before we do in Workstation.

Assuming you want to have exactly the same thing in F21 and master, and
keep the two branches in sync in the future, here is something that can
get you out of this situation:

First, you need to cleanup the master branch, as you committed some
merge conflict indicators (the << === and >>> lines).

So just remove those lines, as well as the "Release: 2%{?dist}" line
(you bumped the release to 3, you don't want to also keep the line
setting it to 2)

Then commit on master.

At this point, you can do this:

 $ git checkout f21
$ git merge master                       # this causes a merge conflict
$ git checkout master -- darktable.spec  # solve the conflict by taking the
file as it is in master
 $ git commit

At this point, the changes that were in master are now also in f21.

But you're not finished, if you really want to keep the branches in
sync from now on, here's the trick:

 $ git checkout master
 $ git merge f21

Now, both master and f21 are pointing to the exact same commit. So just
push and build.

Next time you make a change in master, just merge it in f21 and you
won't have any conflict any more. :)

For that kind of thing, add a runtime test for required CPU features at
startup. If you don't want to touch the original code, just add an
introducer that checks current hardware, then execs the app in /usr/libexec.

Of course, a better solution would be to fix the package to work on all CPUs
you support. But if upstream doesn't care, it's going to be a problem. :-(
We have a similar issue with QtWebEngine, because Chromium/V8 upstream
requires SSE2 in their JIT and there is no interpreter fallback. (They are
now working on an "interpreter" mode, but it is not a real interpreter
fallback either, some stuff still uses the JIT.)

I suspect Qupzilla might actually feel more integrated into GNOME than
Firefox. You have the Adwaita-Qt theme, the Qt platform plugin system
supports GTK+ file dialogs, QtKeychain supports gnome-keyring, and Qupzilla
should also pick up GNOME's fd.o icon theme unlike Firefox.

You could try it with the version we currently have, but beware that it's
still a QtWebKit version, not the shiny new QtWebEngine stuff. (By the way,
QtWebEngine support in Qupzilla is apparently no longer experimental. So
it's just a matter of packaging now.)

As I pointed out elsewhere in the thread, QtWebEngine support is actually no

I checked the code and Qupzilla does not use the QtKeychain library, it has
its own plugin system for that, but yes, it supports both KWallet and
gnome-keyring.
