I don't have the resource to compile Xorg-server. If I have, then I would have used gentoo instead of using Sabayon. The issue here is, An application is missing in Sabayon which is available in upstream gentoo. Its not about one user wants one application and that person asking the distro maintainers to include it in their distro for his own purpose. Apart from this, What is the reason behind disabling Xdmx build in xorg-server? Thanks, Mohan R

You can always compile xorg-server via portage the way you wish to try it out. I recommend doing that to make sure it fixes what you want at the very least before requesting for a package to be changed for everybody using the distribution. I'm trying start a gnome-os which is in a qcow2 image (built by gnome-continuous). However, running it in qemu is very slow due to my laptop's limited hardware. So, Instead of running it using Qemu, I did some experiment with systemd-nspawn + nbd-server and successfully booted gnome-os without using Qemu, but without X11. Starting gnome-session inside gnome-os with X server running in the host machine is possible only if I run another X server in a seperate vt (vt2). I cannot use Xephyr because gnome-session requires 3d acceleration. I came to know that Xdmx is a proxy X server which can use a real X server running in vt7. I think it is same like Xephyr with 3d acceleration enabled. Thats why I tried to search for this tool, but xorg-server package is missing this tool. I'm not sure whether Xdmx will suit my requirement, I never tried. But I found that it is missing in Sabayon. Thats why I filed a Bug. Thanks, Mohan R

Care to give some motivation why we should enable dmx on xorg-server? On Tue, Sep 16, 2014 at 2:59 AM, Mohan R wrote: > Hi, > > Xdmx is not available in Sabayon. Kindly build Xdmx with xorg-server > package. > > Thanks, > Mohan R > > >
