The main issue with servo is the wayland support currently:

2018-12-05 Thread Tone Kastlunger
Yes, its pre-community.
I strongly believe the need for a browser is extremely relevant.
Compiling rust is not easy, currently blocked at 1.27, still a way to go to
get to latest levels (see
https://build.merproject.org/package/live_build_log/home:tortoisedoc:branches:home:sfietkonstantin:sailfish:rust/rust-1.27.2/
)

there's some llvm issue there, currently.
It's not easy, but it seems to be possible, at least.

Right. I know that in nearest future a lot of things might change (that's why
I've got XA2 after all). Just hoped to get some dates to make a decision about
reverting back to android or configuring SFOS for daily usage. Moreover, I
believe Jolla even promised roadmap (although don't remember where it was
written, maybe in blog post).

2018-12-01 Thread Michael Fuchs
Hi Alexander,

Take a look at this community meeting log (one meeting before the last one)[1].
Jolla doesnt even know how, when or if they will update the browser engine. At
least they don't want to tell us. So how can there be a roadmap?

[SailfishDevel] SFOS 3 public roadmap

2018-12-01 Thread Alexander Ivash
Hi,

I know this was asked a lot of times but was never in fact answered (or I can't
find the answer)... Anyway, when can I expect public roadmap to be published?
Asking because now I have hard choice: live with incomplete SFOS 3 on XA2 Plus
or flash android back to it.
In particular I'm very interested in better browser (recent enough to at least
handle Zippie) and NFC reader (less important). Currently there is no android
support available so I can't install even android browser (although would love
to get modern native browser one day and forget about android compatibility
forever).
