i2c bus and/or DDC control
I'm looking into writing an app to be able to control display controls via DDC - DDC2ci, or SoftDDC I've been going through the 4.4.0 sourcebase, and while I have seen numerous references on how to implement DDC control at the driver level over the i2c bus. Is there an API, or server extension which exposes this interface? Mac OSX 10.3 exposes the I2C bus at the user level via a IOI2CSendRequest command. There is as yet no intereface in XFree86 to use DDC for control (just the XFree86_DDC_EDID1_RAWDATA X property which makes the EDID information available). Some linux kernel frame-buffer modules may make DDC available through the kernel I2C machanisms. Do you have DDC2ci specs ? I'd be interested in seeing what we would need to put into a control API. sparc problem with 4.4+
Hi, Just built deb packages with XFree86-4.4.99.4 for i386 and Sun Ultra5 sparc. i386: 4.4.99.4 now consistently has no problems with 352x288 Xv images even with DRI enabled. Still insufficient resources for 640x480 images ( depth 24 ). Problem disappears when DRI not enabled. Chipset: ATI Rage 128 Pro ULTRA TF (AGP) (ChipID = 0x5446) VideoRAM: 32768 kByte (128-bit SDR SGRAM 1:1) detected correctly. Ultra5 sparc: Configuration anamoly: Keyboard on Ultra5 is Type6, but needs to be set to Type5 in XF86Config-4. Mouse works with gpm repeater set to 'msc' and XF86Config-4 'Device' set to '/dev/gpmdata' and 'Protocol' set to 'MouseSystems'. xterm ( and other gnome/gdk apps ): gives foll. message, before starting. BEGIN Warning: locale not supported by Xlib, locale set to C Warning: X locale modifiers not supported, using default. Failed to open input method. END Environment not modified from earlier xfree86-4.1.0. The default configs were used for compilation. Please treat this as a humble report.
