[Development] First Qt 4.8.7 snapshot build is available
Hi all, While Qt 5.4.0 release is out and Qt 5.4.1 release is coming soon it is perfect opportunity to make first Qt 4.8.7 snapshot build available. You can find Mac and Windows installers as well as source packages from http://download.qt.io/snapshots/qt/4.8/4.8.7/2014-12-22-1/ As indicated in earlier blog post (http://blog.qt.digia.com/blog/2014/11/27/qt-4-8-x-support-to-be-extended-for-another-year/) Qt 4.8.7 is planned to be the last patch release of Qt 4.8.x series, unless there is a need to provide an update due to a critical security issue. Current plan is to have a Qt 4.8.7 release during February 2015. There are 109 commits since Qt 4.8.6 and you can find changes in this snapshot from 4.8.7-snapshot-2014-12-22-1-changes -file (git log output) next to the installers. Please test these snapshots, report possible regressions to bugreports.qt-project.org and send email about that (with bug id) to releas...@qt-project.orgmailto:releas...@qt-project.org. We are especially looking for P0\P1 bugs feasible to be fixed for Qt 5.0.1 patch release but other priorities can be proposed as well. There is filter https://bugreports.qt-project.org/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?mode=hiderequestId=13526 available for Qt 5 - Unresolved bugs not evaluated yet. [Development] Qt 4.6.5 and 4.7.6 release candidates available
Hi, With most of the buzz naturally around Qt 5 it is good to remember that our users are still with Qt 4 and many have not yet even migrated to 4.8. We have already changed the copyrights in gitorious, but also wanted to create binary installers for latest 4.x releases to reflect the change from Nokia to Digia. In addition there are some important security fixes done after the last 4.6 and 4.7 version and we wanted to include these as well. We have created Qt 4.6.5 and 4.7.6 release candidates that bring the following changes over the previous ones in their series: 4.6.5: - Disable SSL compression by default. - Fix binary incompatibility between openssl versions - Change copyrights from Nokia to Digia 4.7.6: - Disable SSL compression by default. - Make the rules for redirects a bit stricter. - Fix binary incompatibility between openssl versions. - Change copyrights from Nokia to Digia We do not want to add other than important security fixes and mandatory copyright changes in order not to cause regressions. The release candidates are available at http://releases.qt-project.org/digia/4.6.5_RC/ and http://releases.qt-project.org/digia/4.7.6_RC/ (if problems with files visibility try http://origin.releases.qt-project.org/digia/4.6.5_RC/ and http://origin.releases.qt-project.org/digia/4.7.6_RC/ ) You can check the release content from https://qt.gitorious.org/qt/qt/commits/4.6-digia and https://qt.gitorious.org/qt/qt/commits/4.7-digia Please have a look and tell if you find any issues. We hope to have the official release done early January if these release candidates are found good. Hi all, We are preparing to release a repackaged version of Qt 4.8.3 with Digia copyrights (Qt 4.8.3-1) very soon. The Qt 4.8.3-1 contains the same functionality as the Qt 4.8.3 release with copyright changes from Nokia to Digia (sha1 has not been changed). This copyright change is a legal requirement which just have to be done. There was a problem related to MinGW in the Qt 4.8.3 release which should be now fixed on Qt 4.8.3-1. [Development] Content freeze for Qt 4.8.3 approaching
Hi all, It has been great to notice that Qt 4.8 branch is active and has already well over 200 commits since Qt 4.8.2 release. Therefore it is suitable time to start creating Qt 4.8.3 release, as discussed earlier. We would like to freeze Qt 4.8.3 sha1 in mid-August aiming to have Qt 4.8.3 release ready, tested and published around the end of August. If you are aware of some improvement or fix which should be included (and/or is possibly pending on review) please send email to releas...@qt-project.orgmailto:releas...@qt-project.org . Any information from e.g. some fix partially approved is valuable and very welcome. As has been discussed before, we are making the 4.8 patch release directly from 4.8 branch. So we will not cherry pick anything, getting something in means that we take all commits in by that point in time. There are a few contributions pending to be merged to 4.8 in Gerrit (link: http://codereview.qt-project.org/#q,project:qt/qt+status:open,n,z). It would be great if all maintainers who have not yet done so go through these for their modules and all contributors who have received comments try to fix the things needed to be accepted. Qt version bump up and dist/changes-4.8.3 update are under work but you can find working draft of changes-4.8.3 file as attachment. [Development] Qt 4.8.2 content upgraded
Hi all, Qt 4.8.2 sha1 is now on commit f1a55ad65337bb614c3dd6e723554bded72a28e4 docs: more tweaks to offline style. If you are aware of problems with that sha1 please send email to releas...@qt-project.orgmailto:releas...@qt-project.org mailing list. Please note that we are making the 4.8 patch release directly from 4.8 branch. So we do not cherry pick anything, getting a new fix in means we take all that are in by that point in time. It will also take about 2 weeks from content freeze to actual release due to SDK related work. Re: [Development] Making of the 4.8.2 release and getting the fixes in by 15th April
Hi all, We are now starting to make snapshot builds for Qt 4.8.2 based on currently approved contributions. Please let us know (by sending email to releas...@qt-project.org) if there are critical contributions pending which should be definitely included into Qt 4.8.2 content. There are already some nice fixes in the 4.8 branch and more are on their way in. All the items to go into 4.8.2 should preferably be in the 4.8 branch by 15th April. We will start taking snapshots from 4.8 branch after that and base 4.8.2 on a stabile one of those. So, maintainers, do your duty :-) Also, while reviewing Qt 4 contributions, remember to think about Qt 5. The contribution must either have landed in Qt 5 already and thus contain cherry- picked from {SHA-1 from Qt 5} or it must have a good explanation why it doesn't apply to Qt 5. The best such explanation is it's already fixed differently there. -- Thiago Macieira - thiago.macieira (AT) intel.com Software Architect - Intel Open Source Technology Center Intel Sweden AB - Registration Number: 556189-6027 Knarrarnäsgatan 15, 164 40 Kista, Stockholm, Sweden ___ Development mailing list Development@qt-project.org http://lists.qt-project.org/mailman/listinfo/development
[Development] Qt 4.8.1 open source release is ready to be tagged
Hi All, We have now finalized the testing for 4.8.1 release, please tag the 4.8.1 release for the sha1. Qt 4.8.1 sha1 == 1e0021d8d9e374ae3959fcd4eac5d9e7238cbc54 http://qt.gitorious.org/qt/qt/commit/1e0021d8d9e374ae3959fcd4eac5d9e7238cbc54 Enclosed, please find the final changes file of 4.8.1 release corresponding the sha1. We have already built the standalone installers and done release testing based on them. Next we need to decide where to distribute the installers. Would it be possible to use the existing Nokia servers to distribute also the 4.8.1 created by us for the Qt Project? There is likely quite much load when the release is out, so it would be great if we can have it distributed with the same infra as 4.8.0 and earlier versions. [Development] Qt 4.8.1 release during week 11/2012
Hi, Earlier there was discussion that mid-March is a good target time for the next Qt 4.8 patch release. Mid-March is now closing and Qt 4.8.1 release as well. Please find draft version of Qt 4.8.1 changes file as attachment. Changes document is based on situation at the end of the last week and still subject to change. There will be some changes in the content before release next week (e.g. we are still working with the final piece of Mac App Store support for Qt 4.8.1). If you have contributed into Qt 4.8 branch feel free to check and send comment if your commit is e.g. incorrectly categorized in changes file. At the moment we are following content of http://qt.gitorious.org/qt/qt/commits/4.8 branch on our internal repository. We would like to provide Qt 4.8.1 branch on Gitorious\Gerrit in order to enable you more visibility for the progress content. Could Gitorious\Gerrit administrators enable such branch and later tag final 4.8.1 release?
