Re: [steering-discuss] Having fixed-time calls

Hello,

ok, so far the feedback has been rather positive. :-) So, I'll wait one
more day if someone objects, and then start the poll for the fixed
times, i.e. which time we should pick.

here's the poll:

Future SC calls should have fixed times. One week, the call should be
during the week, i.e. Monday to Thursday, and the next week, it should
be on the weekend, i.e. Friday to Sunday.

Please cast your vote for your most preferred times. I will pick the
most preferred time during the week and the most preferred time on the
weekend.

You can also mark specific dates as when it has to be, rathert than
preferred.

NB: You can ignore the specific dates in the poll, just the days of week
matter.

hm, works for me (the column gets a different color when I click). Seems
to work for others too. Any script or ad blocker on your side installed?

Re: [tdf-discuss] Comparison of LO and OO downloads for a non-English language

As far as I know, it´s an issue of data volume on the download servers.
Which, no doubt, is an question of money.

Actually it is just a choice: it does lower the barrier for someone to
host a mirror, but the size and upload time are comparable; the ratio
between the space needed to host LibreOffice and OpenOffice.org is not
an order of magnitude but something like 1/5 or 1/6, especially now that
LibreOffice partially dropped support for several dozens of languages
 (that were actually untranslated).

You should also consider that the help pack is kind of optional in
LibreOffice, since LibreOffice relies on online (i.e., on a website)
help as its primary help system.

 Regards,
   Andrea.

If, indeed, Andrea, this is a choice between two more or less equal
alternatives (from tdf's point of view), I should like to suggest that the
alternative in which help packages, etc, for non-English-language version
are bundled together with the main (US-English) download be adopted, so the
need for users to download and install two or three different packages is
obviated

[tdf-discuss] common effort: creating replacement for Oracle Report Builder

2011-05-31 Thread Friedrich Strohmaier
Hi all,

started a thread on projects mailinglist

[libreoffice-projects] common effort: creating replacement for Oracle
Report Builder
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.documentfoundation.libreoffice.projects/192

 Quote: =
I examined the capabilities of writer and found many of the requirements
for report generation already present there.

So I'd propose to have a look by all interested on this topic, whether
it is feasible to create a report generating tool based on writer (or
calc?) extention(s) or template(s).

Anyone interested in this task or topic might subscribe the projects
mailinglist[1] or discuss here.
