[IxDA Discuss] Fixed or rotating feedback icon?

2009-08-18 Thread Shima Kazerooni
Hi,

Has anyone conducted usability studies or knows about user preference for a
fixed position rotating feedback icon (eg. [+] Feedback) versus a rotating and
scrolling one which follows the user as they scroll up and down a page.

Thanks,
Shima

[IxDA Discuss] How to Get Useful Feedback from Customer Support?

2009-08-10 Thread Shima Kazerooni
Hi,

Our UX team would like to work more collaboratively with our customer support
team in getting the top customers' issues.  We usually receive feedback such as
change this to ...  or move this to   It's more suggestions and
recommendations on what they want to see improved rather than the actual
customers' issues.

I am wondering about how you (as the UX team) communicate with your customer
support team on getting the raw underlying customers' issues.  Do you train
your customer support team on what they need to look for to provide the UX team
with valuable data?

Thank you,
Shima

the language.  Has anyone used a vendor and been happy with the service and
results that they have received?  Please let me know about the name of the
vendor and the contact information.

Thank you,

I have seen that it is recommended to avoid hard coding colors.  Does anyone
know what exactly hard coding colors means?  Any specific examples
are appreciated.

Thank you,

Re: [IxDA Discuss] Going beyond Usability: The need to design for Persuasion, Emotion, and Trust

2009-07-13 Thread Shima Kazerooni
I recently took Susan's HFI PET design course (design for persuation, emotion
and trust) course and really like it.  It was a 3-day couse and she covered a
lot in it.

Persuasion, Emotion, and Trust

One of the other researchers at HFI, Susan Weinschenk, recently
published a book called Neuro Web Design - What makes them click?
It was a good read and covered 9 different persuasion techniques.
My only complaint is that I wish it covered even more.

To the points made by others, I agree, and think that in addition to
having it all packaged up another benefit is that it gives us the
vocabulary to start the discussion with regarding persuasion
techniques.

Re: [IxDA Discuss] Best Practices in Usability Testing of Search Results Page

2009-05-11 Thread Shima Kazerooni
We would like to test 5-6 different designs of a search results page
and want to know if users notice some elements or information on the
different designs. Are there best practices (besides counter
balancing) in usability test of search results pages? We have an
eye tracker that can be beneficial in the usability test.

Thanks!

[IxDA Discuss] Testing- Remote Focus Group

2009-01-26 Thread Shima Kazerooni
Hi,

We are planning to conduct a remote focus group with a limited number of
participants and I was wondering if anyone has done that before.  Did you use
any specific tools or applications?  Are there ways to make it more efficient
and get the most out of the remote focus groups?

Thank you,
Shima
