Re: [IxDA Discuss] Storyboards in Balsamiq?
Thanks, but I am not looking for the feature itself -- I know about and have used the linking feature. I am wondering if people actually USE it in practice and am looking for examples. Balsamiq makes it really easy to make static screen sketches, but I find the linking clunky and very inconsistent (e.g., you can link from a button but not from a menu) and wondered if people actually use it. Re: [IxDA Discuss] Storyboards in Balsamiq?
Have you tried another mock up tool called pidoco.com which fully supports story boarding, as well as prototype testing. I have heard it is free for Educational use, if you email them. It may be worth asking them for an export function, of not just the prototypes, but the use cases as well to Cog Tool. [IxDA Discuss] Storyboards in Balsamiq?
I've used Balsamiq for low-fidelity storyboards/prototypes. Like most prototyping tools, you can easily link screens together in a workflow or simulate buttons, links, etc., by making almost any element a link to another page. One thing I don't like about Balsamiq is the inability to do global changes. For example, if I want to change the label on a button, I have to open each screen/page with that button and manually edit or copy/paste the new button label. Otherwise, it is a pretty good prototyping tool. Re: [IxDA Discuss] Storyboards in Balsamiq?
Bonnie, I've never used Balsamiq for interactive wireframing but I believe it could be successful. When I've done interactive wireframing, it usually has been with HTML (Axure also is a great tool but expensive). My preference for Balsamiq, though, is to demonstrate a sketchy concept for individual pages rather than for interactive testing. :) Samantha . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [IxDA Discuss] Storyboards in Balsamiq?
Does anybody actually use the links in Balsamiq Mockups to make storyboards that can be walked through to show the interaction of a system? I looked at all the examples in the Balsamiq Mockup gallery and they all seem to be single screens (except for one which shows a Google-like interface with the first search-box screen and then a search-results screen). I'm wondering if folks use Blasamiq for actual storyboards, with links, and branching, or if the predominant use is with independent un-linked screen sketches.
