Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] inspire conference 2013 paper and workshop

2013-05-24 Thread Jachym Cepicky
Hi Just,

I think, http://inspire-foss.org is great point for the start, gives
nice overview about possible solution of the SDI problem. Stelt.org
seems also be very nice.

There is one change: it's not going to be presentation, but only a
poster, which changes things a bit. I have no clue, how to approach
than. Anyway, we keep in touch via mailing list.

 Hi Jachym and all,

Good initiative! I don't know if it is too late (busy), but I've also
added my name to the paper. Unfortunately I can't be in Florence but may
add some contribution. From 2009 on we (jointly with a.o. Lat-Lon/Occam
Labs i.e. deegree) have been doing quite some INSPIRE FOSS work mainly
on data transformation, storage, and WMS/WFSs with transformed data,
 sponsored by Dutch Kadaster.

This work is available in two FOSS projects INSPIRE-FOSS [1] and Stetl
[2]. These are not OSGeo projects, but build on OSGeo products, in
particular deegree. Given that the paper is about OSGeo products would
this still fit in? I also think data transformation/ETL is a large and
underestimated effort in INSPIRE, (wasn't harmonized data the essence of
INSPIRE?), so IMO should have a place as well.

 best regards,

 Hi all,

thanks to Margherita, we now know, that the presentation proposal [1]

 Poster and
the workshop proposed [2] was accepted under the condition, that we

 MapStore.

As I wrote in the other thread - but I'd repeat it for the record - this
is no longer the case, thanks to the organisers and to Simone who kindly
accepted to take another slot on Sunday morning. So at the moment we
have a full slot of 90 minutes to cover, on Monday.

 Workshop:
 -
I would like to ask all people, who are *going* to Florence and
 *want to
actively participate* at the workshop, put your name there [3].

Thank you Jachym to have raised this crucial point. I would kindly
invite those available to actively participate (in person) at the
workshop to show up, otherwise I fear that we'll have to drop the idea.

 Deadline: Monday 27.5.2013.
Reason for that: we need to make sure, someone will come and will
 something to say.

 Thanks.
 Best, madi

[OSGeo-Discuss] inspire conference 2013 paper and workshop

2013-05-22 Thread Jachym Cepicky
Hi all,

thanks to Margherita, we now know, that the presentation proposal [1]
for this years INSPIRE conference in Florence was accepted as Poster and
the workshop proposed [2] was accepted under the condition, that we
merge it together with the workshop from GeoSolution and their MapStore.

Workshop:
-
I would like to ask all people, who are *going* to Florence and *want to
actively participate* at the workshop, put your name there [3].

Deadline: Monday 27.5.2013.
Reason for that: we need to make sure, someone will come and will
something to say.

Poster:
---
Things have changed a bit. I already collected some informations about
our projects based on their changelogs (for my Czech presentation next
week) - somewhere I was successful more, somewhere less. Since I do not
use all our projects as power-user and since I really do not follow
their development in detail, and I doubt, anybody does, the content must
be community driven.

Apparently I'm failing with the management at this point, since nobody
started yet. I'll approach my usual way: prepare some miserable content
and wait, till other people see it and will try to fix my crude way of
content formulating.

And since it is a poster and not a presentation, cooperation will have
to be done differently. But I know my limits and believe me, you don't
want to see any graphical work from me. Who is *the* OSGeo poster expert
for such cases? Who will print it?
