Ceejay Ceejay Of course, sorry about suggesting something you don't have and not talking about what you do have! (I guess I was really just contributing another idea to the thread generally.) As for the interference problem, I didn't do anything at all - the Creative device seems not to be affected. I'd previously tried using the radio in a JVC EX-A1 Compact Component system with the SB3 on top, and that was hopeless; but the Creative device just worked - there isn't any significant interference. And I'm using the supplied dangly bit of string external aerial, not any thing more sophisticated. I don't know much about the physics of radios, but this implies that the interference may not to be to do with the aerial itself; rather, I guess some internal component that matters is screened better in the Creative device than on other radios??? (At this point, all becomes shrouded in mystery as far as I'm concerned!) The Creative user manual says that the rear panel aerial connector is an FM Antenna 'F'-type jack, 75 ohms, and you can attach an adapter (included) that provides what looks for all the world like the sort of socket you get on the back of a VCR where you plug in the VCR end of the cable that connects to the aerial socket on the TV. -- Diana -- Diana Diana's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7463 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=25688 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

You may not have LAME installed (necessary to transcode to mp3), perhaps you've turned off certain file types (for instance, are you forcing slimserver to feed flac as flac?), or maybe you have bitrate limiting turned on (with no LAME installed). [slim] IPv6 through SB3 bridge broken?
Hello, I'm using a SB3 in bridge mode as follows: Internet -- Linksys WRT54GS -[wireless]- SB3 -[wired]- Mac Mini I'm running 6.5.0 SlimServer on the Mac Mini. Everything works fine except for IPv6. I can pass unicast and multicast IPv6 traffic from the mini towards the Internet through the SB3 bridge fine (I see the traffic using tcpdump on the WRT), but only multicast IPv6 traffic passes from the WRT through the SB3 bridge to the Mac Mini. I know this because tcpdump on the mini shows only traffic destined to IPv6 multicast addresses (ff02::...) arriving on the mini. Unicast IPv6 traffic is dropped at the SB3 bridge. If the mini is connected directly (wired) to an ethernet port on the WRT, IPv6 unicast and multicast work fine in both directions. All IPv4 traffic works fine in both directions, of course. Why don't I just use the mini's Airport Extreme card and connect to the WRT wirelessly? Because there is a known problem with Airport Extreme cards and Linksys routers - the wireless connection drops once a day or so and manual intervention is required to bring it back up. And, yes, IPv6 unicast and multicast work fine in both directions when the mini talks wirelessly directly to the WRT (other than the irritating random connection drop problem). Anyone else out there running IPv6 through the SB3 bridge? I fixed the problem after reading the following on the troubleshooting FAQ (http://faq.slimdevices.com/index.php?sid=16862lang=enaction=artikelcat=2id=14artlang=en) Ensure that you're using the first key in the router's setup if it lets you specify multiple keys My router (LinkSys WRT54G) has you enter a passphrase from which it generates four different WEP keys. Check the MAC address in the SB settings matches that printed on the bottom of the unit. If it doesn't it has been corrupted and you can read: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30567highlight=mac+address for info on correcting it. [slim] Server can't find player
I've had my Squeezebox v3 for about half a year, and until now it have worked properly. However now suddenly the player can't locate the server anymore? There is no problem with the wireless connection as I can access Squeezenetwork. I have tried to reconfigure the network player settings and I guess the problem is the IP adress for the server. I enter 192.168.001.004 as this is what the slimserver settings displays under the menu serversettings. This however doesn't work. I have even entered the wireless router settings and can see that 192.168.1.3 and 192.168.1.4 is in use. During the player setup I can see that DHCP allocates 192.168.1.3 which I guess is for the internet connection. Left is 192.168.1.4 but as mentioned this doesn't seem to work. I've been through the getting started manual several times. Connecting to SlimServer 1. If SlimServer isn't already running, start it now. Your player will scan your local network to find the computer that's running SlimServer. If you started SlimServer after starting setup, you may need to scroll to find it. 2. Select the computer you want to use. But somehow I don't seem to get the choice of selecting my computer. I'm prompted for an IP adress of the server instead. As one can tell my knowledge is rather limited when it comes to network settings. I hope that someone is able to help me out. -- Garnez Garnez's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7907 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30825 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Re: Server can't find player
If you don't see the option of selecting your computer, this likely means the firewall software on your PC isn't allowing SlimServer to 'broadcast' that option to your player. This means UDP 3483 is being blocked. What firewall software are you using? Probably an update was received or something that removed the exceptions that have been in place until now. -- Ross L Ross Levine - Slim Devices Technical Support [EMAIL PROTECTED] - +1.650.210.9400 ext. 3 Ross L's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4416 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30825 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Re: Browser refresh going mad!
Thought I ought to bring some closure to this. In reverse order: I reckon that the browser refresh was going mad when I was pausing (not stopping) near the beginning or end of a track. (I'm sure I'm not alone: I'm popping out of the room, and just can't bear to miss part of the next song - and don't yet have a Squeezebox in the loo :-)) I'm trying to get out of the habit (of pausing, I mean :-) - I stop near the start of the next track instead.) I couldn't work out how to use tag editing to get rid of the clicks I was finding at the start of some tracks; however, last night I installed the most recent nightly, and - yippee! - no more clicks. -- Brian -- Brian Ritchie Brian Ritchie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2319 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30116 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

You were dead on. Music is all in FLAC. FLAC - WAV was not turned on. The newer devices of course will read FLAC natively while the original will not. All fixed. Thanks for the help. My mac address got corrupted recently, and my SB3 would not connect to my network. I spent all day futzing with it and was about to unhook my SB3 and take it to the computer to try an ethernet connection when I noticed the mac address printed on the bottom. I had run through the settings several times and seen the mac address on the machine, so I knew right away they didn't match. [slim] Re: Any UK Users using SB3 wireless with Sky Broadband router?
Hi Geoggy, I switched over to Sky broadband a few months ago and I can assure you that the router supplied (Netgear DG834GT) works fine for me with my wireless SB3. The worry I had was that Sky supply the router pre-configured with an SSID etc including using WPA (as opposed to WAP) as a pre-requisite to connect to their service. I was planning to buy a Roku soundbridge however I found that this only has support for WAP but the SB3 handles WPA fine and setup was a breeze. hope this helps Gaz -- Gazza Gazza's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9117 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30792 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
