Re: [slim] xPL Not Sending IR Codes?

2009-03-12 Thread AndyMc

That warning is just that. The xPL code has not been fully updated to
the current architecture. Without fully checking I don't think it is a
showstopper for you.

If you still are having problems, please answer the following fault
finding questions:

How did you send the text command?

Can you see xPL messages coming from SqueezeCenter?

Have you checked using xPL_Logger (or similiar) that the xPL message
made it to the hub running on the machine that SqueezeCenter is running
on?

Have you tried using xPLSend (or similiar) to send an xPL message
from the command line?
eg.
Code:

./xplsend -c osd.basic command=write text='test message'

there a xpl logger application to test that the xpl messages are

Re: [slim] BBC WMA Radio streams cause my SB3 to reboot

2009-03-12 Thread mobileadam

Hi Chris,

I'm probably sending you down the wrong path again but I awoke this
morning to find one of my receivers constantly 'rebooting' when trying
to listen to a radio 1 live stream. I spent lots of time trying to
solve it (about 2 hours) and now suddenly it is working again.
Reviewing my changes (I tried to make only one change / test at a time)
it only started to work after I disabled the SqueezeNetwork integration
in SC. I then tried to reproduce the problem by re-enabling the option
but is hasn't reoccured!!! So is this just a coincidence?

So, it was working for about two weeks, then failed again this morning,
I must have seen reboots over 15 times during the two hours of trying to
fix it. If it occurs again then I guess I can rule out my current
thinking about the SN integration (although I do find it interesting
that this is along the similiar lines to my previous testing the last
time it happened).

Adam

Re: [slim] BBC WMA Radio streams cause my SB3 to reboot

2009-03-12 Thread chris.mason

Hi Adam,

Thanks for the follow up. What you say is very interesting, because I
was wondering about the same thing. I noticed lots of sync requests,
and occasional sync errors (possibly meaningless) in the server log,
and I've tried turning off SN syncing/integration. I'm really unclear
what that is for anyway - that whole area is something which is poorly
defined. I rarely use SN anyway (knowingly at least!).

I'll check my sync settings again, and see what results I get with it
switched off.

Chris.

Re: [slim] xPL Not Sending IR Codes?

2009-03-12 Thread AndyMc

Indeed, you can download Gerry Duprey's xPLLIB
http://www.xpl4java.org/xPL4Linux/downloads/xPLLib.tgz from his xPL
website. This is C code for Linux: http://www.xpl4java.org/xPL4Linux/

This contains C source code for the above mentioned logger and
xPLSend applications.

IMPORTANT: Ensure that you are running a hub on the NAS box.

I assume you are not currently running a hub for SqueezeCenter due to
the lack of Java - note that the download listed above also contains a
hub written in C. (His page also contains a precompiled Hub, which
might be the only fix you need..)

Just bumping this thread for two reasons:

ralphy, if git isn't your thing, if you can make your subversion

be happy to maintain a git mirror using git-svn.

Also, regarding my problems with streams; it seems that the problem is
with WMA streams. This might be an OSX-specific problem; I have Windows
Media codecs installed using Flip4Mac but I'm not sure if these are
available to squeezeslave. Any ideas?

Re: [slim] Annouce: New Squeezeslave 0.8 release availabe on sourceforge

2009-03-12 Thread ralphy

Luke,

Squeezeslave doesn't currently support wma, you'll need to transcode
those files/streams. There are details on the wiki, although I see it
hasn't been updated for 7.3

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/WMA

I'm still working on creating a library from the rockbox wma decoder to
use with SS. Some of the code used to recognize the stream type is
tightly wrapped with other features so it's taking longer than I'd
hoped and ffmpeg is just to hard to complex in my option for decoding
audio only.

I've been reviewing google code and it's probably what I'll end up
using. I'll send you a PM once things are in place.

Thanks again.

Hi Chris,

Other things that were occuring this morning which don't help with your
problem at all include my two receivers not playing the same radio
stream in sync regardless of how I told them to syncronise with each
other. Obviously my problematic receiver would shortly reboot before
reconnecting occasionally to radio stream. Now that everything is
working again they are perfectly in sync.

I have also deleted my two players from the SN site and they don't
automatically reappear now which shows that the option on SC is working
as expected.

Re: [slim] Classic Remote stopped working

2009-03-12 Thread Mark Lanctot

The old Slim Devices remote used to develop problems in the solder to
the IR emitter sometimes, easily solved by re-soldering the connection
from the emitter to the circuit board if you know how to solder and can
pry the thing open.

However I haven't heard of this problem with the new Logitech candy
bar-style remote.

If you have a digital camera you can verify if the remote is sending IR
by going into a dark room and watching the emitter in the digital camera
screen as you press remote buttons. It should flash a purplish light.

For the album art that is embedded in the flac file you must use the
option 'Use album cover stored in SqueezeCenter instead of physical
file' to be set in the Option screen of ACC otherwise only file based
cover files are supported.

For the first path problem i need some more information:
1- the acc.log file (you can send it by mail if you like)
2- Is Z: a mapped network drive or is it a local drive?
3- What does the path to the ABBA folder look like from windows?
Z:\Music\ABBA or Z:\ABBA ?
4- If on a remote server, what is the full path from server point of
view to the ABBA album on the server?

Lack of sync with software players is common because of latencies in
the player software, sound card drivers, etc. But that experience isn't
universal, as some people have managed to hit the right

Go into Settings, Plugins tab and scroll down to Rescan Music Library.
Make sure that it's checked (I don't recall whether if it is by
default). If not, check the box and hit 'Apply'. You'll then have to
restart SqueezeCenter before the plugin is functional. Go to that same
settings page and configure the settings of the rescan plugin (also be
found under Settings Advanced) . Make sure the rescan timer turned
'on', set the time of day and the type of scan that you want to run.

Unfortunately the only interval available is once-per-day. I've
configured mine to do a complete 'clear and rescan everything' every
night, but my total scan time is under 30 minutes. If it were in the
hours then the only practical option would be to schedule a 'new and
changed' scan. The clear/rescan seems to keep things running very
smoothly and it catches tagging changes that a new and changed scan
will often miss.

Re: [slim] Can Transporter connect to 2 things at the same time?

I have a Transporter in my rig and I want to have internet radio in

it to the PC through ethernet or wifi, and also connect to another
internet connection at the same time? I do not have a router myself, I
connect to the wifi-router of the owners of the house I rent in.

Condensed: Can the Transporter connect to two wireless signals at the
same time, or ethernet and Wifi at the same time?

No, it can't connect to two wireless signals. But if it's in bridging
mode it will use both the wireless and wired connections. But I'm not
sure that's what you want. Bridging is used to connect the Transporter
to the wireless network and then uses the wired ethernet connection to
connect some other network gear.

Explain your current network configuration more fully. Are both the
Transporter and server connecting wirelessly to your neighbor's wifi
router or what? Are the Transporter and PC in the same room?

How did you get it to do that?

Well for some reason the player although not recognising SC would still
connect to the radio stations available via the player.

While connected to a local station,I pressed the brightness button and
it upgraded the firwmware to 125 straightaway.

But anyhow the major culprit behind all my woes is Norton and its
firewall.
While inplace it won't allow the player to be recognised by SC..

Re: [slim] Can Transporter connect to 2 things at the same time?

2009-03-12 Thread JeffHart

I'm kind of new here, might upgrade to a Transporter at some time,
currently using the lower end gear. Why not just use the internet
radio access in SqueezeCenter or SqueezeNetwork - are there stations
that aren't accessible?

TIA,
Jeff
