Re: [slim] replay gain question
There are two replay gain tags added when you use Foobar2K to analyze by album - track gain and album gain. Track gain is useful when you are playing a random mix of tracks, while Album Gain is keeps the volumes of all the tracks in an album at the same relative gain to each other as was with the original source material. Squeezecenter allows you to choose track gain or album gain or 'smart' gain which tries to figure out whether you are playing a random mix or an album. Hope that helps. -- Nikhil Nikhil's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=993 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=65033 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

OK, An update, this morning my Linksys (DSL/wireless/router) died on me. It would no longer connect DSL, DHCP went dead and I could no longer access it via web browser. Re: [slim] Duet Controller Shuffle Behavior
Had a party this weekend and while the guests were impressed by their ability to dial-up all my music on the controller, they were less than impressed by the presence of this shuffle bug (had to explain to 5+ people that it was unexpected behavior and it should work like they expected). Luckily they quickly moved to adding specific songs to the playlist which limited this issue. Other comments were basically that the controller was unresponsive at times (sometimes going to Connecting... and other times just spinning arrow, etc.) and a little sluggish in general. My wireless is solid in general fo other devices, so I'm not sure what the issue is. Also, the feel of the dial is tough to get the hang of - it seems to jump from non-responsive to over responsive. It's not easy to use it quickly based on feel - you have to be very deliberate to not under or overshoot your target. I understand and agree with these assessments. I'm hoping there's focus on cleaning up the code on the controller to be faster and have fewer bugs. It's the front line in the reference sale in the field and it's not where it needs to be yet, IMO. -- thomsens thomsens's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1352 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54476 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Display fades to black a few seconds after power on
After picking up my SB2 from the floor once again (a daily occurrence as our little one likes to pull the cables and drag it off the bedside table), finally the SB2 has, perhaps coincidentally, developed a fault. In almost all respects it works, connecting to SC, acting as a bridge for a DECT/SIP phone base station, and streaming text from SC, but a few seconds after starting the display fades gracefully and permanently to black, with the SB still working. Only a power cycle brings it back again, until a few seconds later when again it fades, and so on. Any ideas? The VFD seems fine and is at full brightness just after being turned on, so I'm wondering if it's the driver (inverter). I haven't opened up and checked for any obvious faults yet. In the worst case I can probably use it for another display-less application, but would be nice to fix it as I prefer the clock radio style for beside use, and these are rare to find on ebay now (none right now at UK ebay). -- ioncube ioncube's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2212 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=65053 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
