[slim] Worst customer service ever!
First. I am sure that there are a lot of hard working people at Logitech, trying to make great products - this is not meant for them. I bought the duet and it can't connect to mysqueezebox.com when my computer is off (all ports are open, it can ping and even see the ip address for mysqueezebox.com but the controller says that I am not registered). Called Logitech support here in Denmark and they apparently hung up on me after 25 min. (and no I am not one of those idiots who rants at people who is trying to help me). They never cared to call back although they asked for both my phone number and my email address. Called them again and was now treated in a most unprofessional rude way - he even yelled at me because I told him that I already tried the thing he was suggesting close to 30 times (resetting the unit). Guess what - it didn't solve the problem doing that again. Found this forum and someone from Logitech posted that I could PM him if I had problems with the duet. Well he doesn't allow PM. so I found another Logitech person who did but he doesn't read his mail (although his account shows recent activity). Tries to send a mail to the European customer support but During the next several days, Logitech will be transitioning our customer support e-mail system. Email support will not be available from August 30 until October 12. It is now October 16 and same message!!! How can it take more than two weeks to transitioning their customer support e-mail system - isn't that something other companies does doing the night or within a few days??? Got an email from the Danish support claiming that they haven't heard from me within 168 hours since they send me an answer so they changed the status to SOLVED!!?? (they never send me any answer and I have only contacted them via phone). I replied that my problem wasn't solved and got a reply that an account was created?? I asked them how this account was going to help me and got a mail We have received your question. You will get an answer within 72 hours - 4 days later (96 hours) and nothing! Ironic enough they send me another mail at the same time claiming how much they care about me and that they want to know how my experience with customer service has been! Well now you know!! This is INSANE!!! Stop wasting my time Logitech, my time is worth something. I have bought so many of your product through the years but this experience has changed my view on your company. My dream of buying both the Squeezebox Radio and Touch or any other product from Logitech has probably ended. I am going to return the Duet if I don't get some response from someone from Logitech very soon. -- Altec Altec's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=23276 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69869 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

RonHatl;471977 Wrote: Don't get me wrong; I think it's great that we now have the Squeezebox Radio and Touch to play with or to replace our old but yet beloved SBs.. But will the number of players affect the average quality on released versions of the Squeezebox Server software? I mean; many players equals many if statements to be handled by the software development team as the players' hardware are different.. I wonder; Is the 'Logitech Squeezebox' software development team staffed and managed accordingly? PS. And this is important: So far I am VERY IMPRESSED by the quality of both the hardware and software products from Slimdevices and now 'Logitech Squeezebox'. I think the success is very much related to the strong enthusiasm of the freaks who spend a lot of free time developing and roaming these forums! So THANK YOU ALL! You know; I just LOVE these products!! RonHatl If you're concerned about the proliferation of players and the complexity of the software (and implicitly, support for legacy players), consider a couple of the alternatives: *1. Don't introduce new products:* this is commercial suicide, especially considering Moore's Law. As good as the existing products are, they need new products not only for the marketing buzz they create, but also to take advantage of adding greater capabilities at the same or lower price point. *2. Introduce new products, and stop supporting old hardware:* This is what a lot of companies do, and something that Slim Devices never did and Logitech has done as little as possible (eg, TinySC on the SB Touch won't support SliMP3 or SB1 players). What existing SB user is going to want to add a new device if it can't sync or interoperate with existing gear? Probably not many, and the alternative of replacing everything is usually very unattractive. As pski pointed out, much of the new code -- although far from all -- goes into the player firmware, not the server software. And in some cases, the new products help make the old products better, with the most obvious case in point being the SB Controller. It was the first device based on SqueezeOS, and now the Radio and Touch are the 2nd and 3rd. A lot of the development effort on the Radio and Touch is showing payoffs on the SBC. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69751 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Phil Leigh;473118 Wrote: Yes I'm familiar with that legislation and provided I continue to post on this forum alone it has no relevance, because by definition I cannot distort or be likely to materially distort the average consumer's economic behaviourPerhaps, perhaps not. But a beta tester who subsequently posted a great review on a site like Amazon, without making it clear that he'd been provided the hardware by Logitech without paying for it, would be leaving himself open to the FTC fine. The two disturbing things I see in this are: 1) The wording in the FTC policy document makes frequent use of phrases like will be determined on a case-by-case basis, leaving the door wide open. In effect they're saying we aren't going to set any clearly-defined rules or tell you exactly what is and isn't allowed, but if you break the rules, we'll nail you. 2) This isn't legislation as the term is understood in the U.S. It isn't a law passed by Congress. It's just a bureaucratic policy, with the bureaucrats setting the rules very vaguely, and then making themselves the arbiters of what those rules are and who is guilty of breaking them. Pat may be right that a particular case, if it were challenged and taken to court, might be overturned, and perhaps the FTC would be forced to make the rules more definite and precise, and be forbidden from deciding on fines on a case-by-case basis. But the poor schmuck who had to go to the trouble of taking it to court would be in for a whole lot of hassle, and legal costs, probably amounting to more than the fine itself. Which is how bureaucrats get away with this kind of thing: they make it cost more to fight it than to just give in and pay it. -- Dogberry2 Dogberry2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18883 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69819 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

On the drive that has multiple listings - is your music as separate tracks plus a CUE file? Are there M3U files? I -think- CUE files get treated as a second instance, even if the track has already been scanned. I'm pretty sure M3U files are not - but I'm not sure about that. If you do have CUE files, go to server settings / advanced / file types and add CUE (and maybe m3u?) to the box labeled Disabled Audio File Extensions. Re: Napster UK Now 5
In truth, I have been using Napster with SB for around 8 months. I have had some rebuffering problems, but that was with mainly with my SliMP3 and a Mains ethernet kit, so not too concerned. Actually some of the posts on the Napster boards are very critical, but for £5, I think their expectations are too high - It's less than minimum wage! FFS, if you were on the dole, you might even sign up! FOr £60 a year including 60 downloaded DRM free tracks, plus the ability to stream to any/all your squeezeboxen - then I would not be too concerned about how good the Customer Service Dept are. In fact for that price, I would expect them to be farmed out to the cheapest place that Napster can put them. Actually I'm surprised that someone like Virgin have not bought them out, or tried to replicate - Take out our superfast 50MB broadband and stream any 8m tracks for free! The way this streaming media will pan out is that we will go back to paying per MB of usage. If people think that they can use BBC iPlayer all day or downlad movies from Apple TV, without eventually having to 'pay the ferryman' will be in for a shock! To get back to you original question... I though it was a good enough service to pay £10 a year for, so I am very happy that I can get the same service for £5. In fact, local.bin, PM me your address and I will send you a crisp BoE £10 note and you can have a free 2 months - I'll just pretend that they have not reduced the price until December! There's also control via the 'Size' button on the remote. -- JJZolx Jim JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69895 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
