I'd like to be
able to group the songs in this playlist alphabetically so that I can
access various versions of the same tune in one place. Is there any way
to set this up?
If you install CustomBrowse plugin, you'll find an alternative Song Information

Did you try a different OS? Make a backup or change the HDD, and for a

Re: [slim] Cant find my music

2010-03-30 Thread nimnul

How to improve re-scanning/scanning of library?

It looks like I resolved my issues above by doing a new, clean install
(and maybe changing to Avast antivirus as AVG reported Squeezeserver as
a theat)

Anyway, it takes about 5-6hours to scan the library (2500 albums in
Flac on a NAS) from scratch. Does this corresponds to your experience?
I have set a total rescan every morning at 3 AM to update my
collection. I dont feel that a ”search for new music” catches edits I
make like correcting tags and artwork properly or misses new
additions.
Thats why I to a total rescan.

In comparison, Sonos finds a newly added album in 10-15 minutes, where
SBS needs a couple of hours. Thats a shame.

Really annoying when a phone is ringing...

Well You can also mute using the button on the front of the reciever if

Using the sleep and suspend controls of the controller you can prevent
it from going into to deep sleep and avoid 10-15 sec wake-up.

Re: [slim] Squeezecenter Remote vs ITouch

2010-03-30 Thread DoomWolf

I have the Controller and iPeng on my iPod Touch. 99.9% of the time I
use iPeng rather than the Controller. The only thing the Controller has
is that it can be used as a portable Squeezebox player (through the
headphone jack), but the next version of iPeng should add that
functionality. However, I find that the Controller has problems with
wireless streaming and I have to limit all streams to it at 320kbps
(meaning the server has to transcode FLAC files down to that level).

At the moment my Controller is sat in it's cradle in the living room
acting as a nice, albeit expensive, clock. Given that an iPod+iPeng is
cheaper and the iPod so much more flexible as a device, it really is an
easy choice.

Re: [slim] Problems with squeezebox classic

2010-03-30 Thread matthijskoopmans

I have two squeezebox classics, and a boom.

One Squeezebox is branded Slim Devices (the white model), is having the
regular problems. The newer Squeezebox, branded Logitech, is quite
stable. The boom provides the most stable experience of them all.

The question is: has the hardware changed in anyway between the Slim
Devices squeezebox and the Logitect model (I bought the first in 2005,
and the second in 2008)?

The basic specs seem the same, but maybe a different manufacturer for
the wireless network component, or a different chip somewhere?
