Re: [slim] IR Code Not Defined?

2010-06-06 Thread dsdreamer

If you're using the latest nightly builds, there were 6 new discrete IR
codes added for Harmony remote integration (presets 1-6).

I don't know if this is causing your issue.

Re: [slim] DSBridge - A simpler way to stream Spotify

2010-06-06 Thread Shermozle

I've got it running in a VirtualBox Windows instance and working well
with my Squeezeboxen. This desktop it's running on is a little
underpowered, so I had to drop the quality to 160kbps. It still uses
more CPU than I'd like. But I might try putting it on my server to
alleviate that.

Now keeping an eye on Mopidy which is a fairly advanced front-end to
Spotify via mpd. Bolting this into a Squeezebox plugin wouldn't be
that hard, but beyond my skills.

I just got an iPad as well. I agree that iPeng is useable, but it would
be nice to be prettier! One request, can you please make it work in
landscape as well as portrait? At the moment it only works in portrait
and I am currently using my iPad mostly in landscape.

Thanks

[slim] Slimp3 Available

2010-06-06 Thread Muggy

If anyone is dying to get their hands on a Slimp3 I've reluctantly
decided to put mine up for sale on ebay (uk).

It hasn't been getting much use recently which I thought was a shame so
it's up for grabs to a good squeezebox friendly home.

Not sure if for sale notices are allowed on here so mods please delete
if this is against the rules.

help me? My SqueezeCenter software (7.5) runs on Ubuntu 10.04. Today I
tried a apt-get dist-upgrade to look for updated packages, and it well

I can't help with the cleanup (but am optimistic for you; I've had my
share of problems like that, usually on Red Hat, and they're always
pretty easy to fix after a bunch of web searches). But, dist-upgrade??
Normally you want to do something like aptitude update aptitude
safe-upgrade to install package updates. dist-upgrade is for tasks
like upgrading from 9.10 to 10.04 -- you shouldn't need to do that
until at least October, when 10.10 is released. :-)

Many thanks peterw. Yes I agree, dist-upgrade is probably bit severe.
It's what I've always used, out of ignorance more than design! I'll
switch to -aptitude- rather than -apt-get- (which doesn't give the safe
options) and see how I get on.

Cheers,

Prettier is what I'm working on, landscape is a probably not. I still
did dot find out what's keeping iPeng from working in landscape mode on
iPhone and so far it's not working on iPad, too.
If it's the NowPlaying screen than this might solve it since that
one's going away on iPad but I don't know that yet.
iPeng for iPad will definitely work in landscape, that one will get a
lot of new UI.

That's odd: numbers should sort before letters. (ie, '9' in 93 should
sort before 'N' in 'No.')

Or did you fudge the names a bit?

93 will sort -after- 101 because 9 is greater than 1 in sorting.

Best way to do that would be either to have a leading 0 (093) of if
that is too geeky, 93.. See, a space will sort before numbers, so
93 will show up before 101.

Not weird at all, that's how sorting works unless you go to great pains
trying to be clever and spotting numbers within a string... nothing I
know of does that. (ie, not dir or ls or Windows Explorer or SQL
'order by' clauses or file selection dialogue boxes on your PC...)

You need to add the select player option to your home menu. Then you
can select the appropriate player (that the controller is linked to)
and then subsequently can turn it on or off. (p.s. this is one of the
reasons I like my ipeng/iphone combo betterI can see all the

[slim] Artists Option Disappears on Squeezebox Controlloer

2010-06-06 Thread fishbone

When I first turn on my Squeezebox Duet Controller (I am running the
Controller with two SB3s -- I do not have the Duet box), HomeMyMusic
shows Artists, Albums, Years, Genres etc. However, once I switch the
Controller to control another player, Artists disppears and only
Albums, Years, Genres, etc. are available to me. This DOES NOT happen
on the SB3 (i.e. using the standard remote and the SB3 display). This
wouldn't be a problem if scrolling through Artists wasn't my favourite
way to look for music. Any thoughts here???

However, regardless of the player I select, it always says Turn On Back
Deck. The option doesn't change regardless of which player is selected
and the opportunity to add that function to the Home Menu doesn't change
in SettingsHome Menu. It only allows me to select Turn On Back Deck
regardless of whether I have the Back Deck player selected for the
 Family Room player selected.
That's just weird, and not the way it works (or has ever worked) for
me. Have you done a factory reset on the SBC? Turn it off, then turn it
on while holding down the + key. You will lose any customizations you
have done (eg, setting the home menu items), but it should fix the
situation.

Re: [slim] Wrong folder numbering

2010-06-06 Thread vdorta

I am sorry, but Windows shows the folders in the order I wrote them,
Symphony No. 93, No. 94 and so on. XMPlay does it correctly too.

Haven't tried a factory reset but maybe I should...not so bad to lose my
custom settings.

Appreciate all the help from everyone.

By the way, how do I turn it on? I just got it and haven't powered it
down yet. Once I turn it off, how do I turn it on (so I can hold the +
key down?

Windows is employing what is sometimes called a 'natural' sort. It
treats strings of numerals as a numeric entity. (You can suppress this
behavior if you like. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319827.)
The problem in Squeezebox Server is that Browse Music Folder doesn't
actually browse the folder structure by retrieving directory
information from the operating system. Instead, during a scan of the
library the scanner stores the folder paths and when you browse the
Music Folder you're actually doing so using the database. The way the
database server sorts those strings is the way you're seeing, with no
special treatment of numeric strings.

Really? AFAIK, dist-upgrade will use your existing sources.list and
never try to upgrade from a repository for a newer release.

You are correct. On my 9.10 system, dist-upgrade doesn't try to update
the OS. Doh.
