NOT try to do the itunes/SbS integration. Can't see the value and it
can cause other odd issues. I play my FLAC files (and any mp3 only
files) on the SbS at home, and have mp3 files for portables. Back it
all up on 4 to 5 different hardrives in at least 3 different locations,

could get anything from the drive other than a loud BUZZ. No big deal.
Yes, it cost about $120, but I swapped out a backup drive and I was
back in business in no time. Would have taken me years to rerip the
 music.

Pretty much my exact system. I have about half the files and 3
externals, 1 which is used as my active drive. I do use Itunes just to
update my non rockbox ipods but thats all it does and doesn't touch my
files.

Re: [slim] Music pauses at random points and then restarts

2010-09-05 Thread nathan_h

Happy to provide whatever info might be useful.

This is a mixed environment. Two sb receivers that are wired, one
wireless boom and one wireless sb3.

Whether one player is on or all are playing the same thing in sync
doesn't appear to change the situation.

The only solution is to play streaming services like pandora or radio
stations. But as soon as I switch back to streaming some flac or mp3
files from my server, the pauses start happening again.

The server is a win7 32 bit machine, p4 3gh with 4g ram. The CPU and
memory utilization are at less than 50 percent when the problem occurs.
Current production build of sb server.

What other details would help?

Still working OK for me outside of the UK.
Do you have the latest version installed ?

If BBC has changed the XML then it will be cached by SBS and so plugin
may appear not to work until cache is refreshed or deleted.

Its working for me - what do you think is broken (I've not tried all
menus). The BBC update did seem to mean their servers were down
earlier today, but I can get listen live and listen again now.

Re: [slim] SqueezeSvr.exe not recognized by COMODO

2010-09-05 Thread dwitkin

Hello. I'm currently using Comodo successfully with SqueezeCenter. You
may need to setup a number of trusted applications AND change your
default configuration for the Trusted Application under the
predefined firewall policy. The default Trusted Application policy
does not appear to include UDP communications. I also added ports 3483
and 9000.

If anyone is still having problems using Comodo with SqueezeCenter /
SqueezeBox, I can try to provide detailed instructions on my Comodo
configuration.

It works now and it seems solved by updated softwares.
The issue was not a port related one but a software name one.
I can't remember whether it was solved buy updating Squeezebox server
or Comodo firewall.
I use now:
Comodo 4.1.150349.920
Squeezebox Server 7.5.1

[slim] current 7.6 on w32: working with MusicIP?

2010-09-05 Thread bobkoure

Is anyone here using a recent 7.6 with MusicIP?
Is it working OK with MusicIP?
If you're using it on a low-spec (or semi low spec like my VIA C3

change there?
Thanks!

PS: yeah, I can wait for a release - but I have a half day free

I'm not sure how much of a challenge it will be. If anything, it could
introduce people to streaming, many of which may well like it but want
more and start looking at proper multiroom and more flexible systems.
If I was Logitech i would not be to worried.

When I was running my business a few years back a large competitor
(much larger than me) started running ads for his service on the radio.
My business increased significantly.
