Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Squeezeslave: 1.0 released
Yes. If the netbook is running a complete linux distribution you should be able to compile squeezeslave on the netbook. That is the recommended process for linux systems. It'll most likely require tweaking one of the current makefiles, which I can do for you. I'll need the output from 'uname -a', without the quotes and linux distribution installed for starters. You may need to install the compiler and other programs to do the build. -- ralphy Ralphy *4*-Classics, *2*-Booms, *11*-Squeezeslaves 'Squeezeslave' (http://code.google.com/p/squeezeslave/) 'donations' (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=LL5P6365KQEXN&lc=CA&item_name=Squeezeslave¤cy_code=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF%3abtn_donate_SM%2egif%3aNonHosted) always appreciated. ralphy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3484 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83362 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music-Playback arrives on iPad: SqueezePad 1.7.0 released
Just got round to trying this. The music playback on my iPad is a great feature! Unfortunately the sync. is badly broken for me - is this a known issue? I've been trying it synced to my SB Radio & classic (both individually and all together). I can't get anywhere close to sync. When I first tried it with my radio, I played all the way through one track with the music only coming from the iPad. The radio showed the correct artwork and play symbol, but no audio. Once it moved onto the next track, the radio started playing but many seconds out. I'm now trying it synced with my SB classic, but I can only seem to get one of them (classic or iPad) playing at a time. Also, when the iPad is playing and synced, the iPad player's pause control has no effect, though "next" and "previous" do. I've bought the in-app purchase anyway, as I'm sure this'll get sorted! -- SadGamerGeek 3x Classic | 1x Touch | 1x Radio | SBS on WHS | iPeng HD & SqueezePad SadGamerGeek's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6145 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84100 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

But as erland said might be difficult for SqueezePad. For instance when browsing Napster menus, SqueezePad actually doesn't even know it's showing Napster-Menus. It just gets a list of menuitems which are either playable or have a submenu. As of the other idea: a context menu for the local library (here it might be possible to realize when I'm in the albums or artists list) especially for Napster ... have to analyze if the Napster menus have some special commands to start them. The Jazzloft sleeves are brilliant, cannot recommend them too highly. Well worth the cost of importing them from US. I access them mainly to refer to the CD booklets. To me the main problem with digital music is the lack of sleeve notes and lyrics. If the record companies are as short of cash as they say they are, they could sell PDF copies of the CD booklets. Re: [slim] Spotify (officially) on SqueezeboxServer?
I'm not 100% sure but my impression is that the time of fear is over but the dominant factor right now is overselling growth potentials. Since iTunes they've seen digital distribution works. I believe there are a lot of power point presentations out there that show how much more money you could make if you sell the same stuff 7 times instead of one time and that that is the way to go. OK, customers don't do that kind of shot but that doesn't bother the power point presentation. Services like Spotify help them because they spend a lot of money they get from VCs for early growth so you can draw nice charts about how well they grow and how much money they generate how much it will be if that continued the same way for 30 years. And especially if you are having 10 of them because you only give Spotify 5 countries, Napster two, WiMP another two and so on. Unfortunately, after 5 years the VC money is through and they have to scale down on pushyness like it happend to Rhapsody, Napster, Pandora,... in the past but that doesn't matter because until then there will be the next cool growth engine with fresh money who's prospects you can print on your power point slides. The piracy argument is and always has been just a straw man. But then hey: This is not just record industries. Corporate business works this way all around us, doesn't it ;) -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote and *New: iPeng for iPad*, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84670 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music-Playback arrives on iPad: SqueezePad 1.7.0 released
You're right - sharing to facebook from Wimp does not work on the Squeezebox Radio either. So it must be the WIMP app that's bugging - right ?
