KMEL properly displays the song title info on my SB3. Re: [slim] iPad Apps for Squeezebox?
I don't know whether it's Ipeng or squeezebox anymore or even the synology NAS209. My Issues today: The Ipeng frequently says it can't find my players (2 reciever + 1 Boom)and then all of the sudden they are there. The Ipeng is soo slow or even not performing when I want to listen to some music from my server. All dialoque boxs take ages to come up or even to activate. Quite a few radiostations cannot be activated although I see the datalink coming up but no sound to hear. This not with all stations strangely enough. Somear working. I'm pretty sure it affects all classic players using the original Squeezebox protocol. There are several FM channels that got added that dont have that weird information added though. Re: [slim] What did I do to get all my local FM radio station in favorites?
No zip code needed, MySB simply uses GEO IP to figure out where you are, therefore what stations are local to you. Sometimes this GEO IP guessing can be very specific or very general based on how your ISP assigns and reports it's IP's. Example: If you live in NJ but use a NYC based ISP then GEO IP may guess that you are in NYC and not offer your NJ locals, or may lump in NYC and NJ both as your locals. Or it may guess correctly that you are actually in NJ and not in NYC. So, if desired, you can enter your zip code into the RadioTime App which will offer much more specific locals in the above NYC/NJ example. RadioTime is the source for all items found in the menu item Internet Radio, with the exception of the Staff Picks. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84970 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Classic refers to the first generation of hardware (and software) clients and respective protocol. The text you see in that picture is a string of characters fed from SBS its not a bitmap.. the only thing thats bitmap is picture of the software player. If you do a CLI query artist ?, you can see the artist name displayed in a string of characters, etc. Here's a picture of softsqueeze doing the same thing on the same channel. [image: http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h283/mkanet/Screenshot-1380.jpg] From the same set of FM radio stations that got added to favorites, there are some FM stations that provide the correct text data. You can't do what the Squeezebox doesn't support, obviously and search is one of these cases. Since the music data is not on the iPad, you can't search for things to which you don't have access through Squeezebox server's database interface. It's been a long-standing question from me whether someone wants to write a better search plugin but so far it's not there. So search will be pretty much what it is now until something changes on the server side. [slim] Empty playlists?
i'm running SS 7.52 using iTunes 10.1.1.4 on Windows 7. i have my rescan timer set to rescan once a day, at 5am. Frequently, when i try to play a playlist first thing in the morning, SS says it is empty (BTW, most of my playlists are dynamic lists in iTunes). Sometimes i can resolve this just by clicking on a different playlist to see its contents; if SS shows me the contents of the list, then all my lists will work fine after that for the rest of the day. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get the contents of a list displayed. Other times i try this on multiple lists and it just says that each list is empty. I can always resolve this by forcing a manual rescan (either clear and rescan everything or only rescan playlists.) What is causing this? it did it on my old computer for years, and i had hoped that when i upgraded to my honkin' big new Dell i7 on Windows 7 that it would go away, but it hasn't. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Squeezeslave: 1.0 released
Have there been any reports of anyone running squeezeslave on the Chumby (or in my case the Infocast 3.5)? I tried both the precompiled arm binaries listed in this thread and they both fail to find any sound devices. I tried compiling from the source listed in this thread also but without success. The alsa build dies early with a call to patch. The oss build goes much further but ultimately dies. I know none of this info is detailed enough to be any help but my question really is - is it possible to get squeezeslave working on the Chumby or is there something fundamental that I'm missing? I've been mucking around with network audio players since the Netgear MP101. My kingdom for a low cost dumb client that just boots and connects to a server for direction. The infocast chumby is the cheapest thing I've found that provides wifi and integrated audio. I know there's other kludges out there using wireless routers with usb audio devices but the infocast is small and could be gutted and hidden fairly easily into a nice set of powered speakers. I don't care about an interface at the speaker end, a laptop or smartphone to control playback would be preferred. I got my wife a SB radio for Christmas. After years of upnp servers and clients the squeezebox approach was a nice change. Unfortunately the squeezebox line up doesn't really include an *affordable* dumb client with no local interface. The duet receiver (without remote) is the closest but it's been out of stock on the website for a while and now is not even listed so it appears that logitech doesn't plan on making it available. That leaves a gaping hole in the squeezebox line in my opinion. Sorry for the long post. I assume the player at 192.168.1.xxx is your other hardware player. Try giving your SqueezePlay player a name (from within the squeezeplay menu). Something like Tom's SP Player. This should make it more obvious when you see it as a player. Also, make sure that the SP Player is not accidentally connected as a player at mysqueezebox.com instead. Go to mysqueezebox.com and see if the SqueezePlay player shows up there. It should, but should also show up as disconnected if not connected to mysb.com. Re: [slim] no squeezeplay audio on win7 64bit
OK, I got this to work thanks to your help, but the whole time I had my previous pc I don't think I ever used the mysqueezebox.com website and everything worked..the old pc has settingschoose a player and the choices were my squeezebox.com or toms (name of the old PC) with a check by toms, and it all worked. Maybe something has changed since then, in any case, now that I know it works, is is still possible to sync with the 192.168.1.xxx hardware player like I had it working before? (even though there was a little lag, the listening areas are separated enough so it doesn't matter...) thanks again for the help tom -- tom.jelly sale items added daily to http://www.industrialtoolandmachineworks.com tom.jelly's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12712 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85010 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] What did I do to get all my local FM radio station in favorites?
This went way over my head. Maybe I'm really dense, what would explain that some FM chanels that were added look 100% correct on softsqueze; but some channels like KMEL looks incorrect on softsqueeze; but look correct on newer clients. It seems that these older clients dont display some of these FM Favorites correctly. Howeever, some of these FM favorites that get added, look 100% correct (such as FM channel KOIT in screenshot below). So, when slimplayer exposes these weird display issues and SB3 shows the same channel correctly, where is the problem? There are other FM Favorites channels that get added that dont have this display problem. Such as the below screenshot. So what's different between the channels with correct text displayed and the ones that aren't on Softsqueeze: [image: http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h283/mkanet/Screenshot-1381.jpg] Maybe, this is something that can be fixed in slimplayer itself. The picture you see is a software player that uses the latest softsqueeze.jar; only adding cosmetic enhancements (its just a UI shell). Thanks for all your help guys! [slim] Home automation ; how to trigger a clean Squeezebox server shutdown ?
Hi, I'd like to automate the shutdown of SB server: I have a magic button at home that turns off all lights when we go to sleep or when leaving home (=when I turn the alarm on). This is extremely handy because I stopped counting the times kids leave the light on. Turning the alarm on, also reduces temperature of central heating. For those who are interested, this is all managed with a PLC Crouzet Millenium XD26 so it's a bit smarter than cutting everything off : 1 push on the button turns external lights off, 2nd push turns lights off in peripheral rooms, 3rd and 4th push turns lights off in the all rooms. When turning the alarm on (=when leaving home), the sequence is automatic but at nigh, the external lights stays on for 5 minutes. When coming home (=when turning the alarm off) at night only, some lights go on automatically for some time. Imagination is the limit. It must be smart and transparent enough but eventually wife is happy. Kids are even more happy because now, they have an excuse for leaving everything on since they say it's all taken care of magically :( I still need to deal about that. I'd like to go one step further and also turn off some equipments that are unlikely to be used at home when we sleep or when we're out i.e. oven, hi-fi stuffs, adsl modem/wi-fi repeater/TV decoders, printers, PCs, VoIP phones, TVs, countless battery chargers, Nintendo, PS3, a PopcornHour C-200 on order, a Touch and two Radios, etc... that have pervasively entered our home. All together these stuffs takes at least 70W on a permanent basis when idle. This is the power that I need to maintain the jacuzzi at 36°C ! I tested that I can pull the plug of Touch; it always restarts OK (so far). My problem is to shutdown the SQ server nicely. It's a Dockstar/debian. Perhaps I'll go to vortexbox in a near future. Coming back to the QUESTION : How can I generate a clean shutdown based on a contact on a relay ? Also, I have battery packs in the two radios. Shutting power off is therefore useless because I consume power to charge the battery later. In the worst case, batteries are empty when I need them. Re: [slim] What did I do to get all my local FM radio station in favorites?
I did a bit more digging. Softsqueeze does not implement one slimproto command META. This command passes back metadata back from player to SBS for display on player, WebUI etc. Softsqueeze does not implement the command so metadata is extracted by SBS. So it is possible that SBS extraction of metadata is different to a hardware player. You can check this by enabling logging for player.streaming.remote to DEBUG and then run a test by starting/stopping playing a station on Softsqueeze and on a hardware player. Log lines as follows are metadata received from player Slim::Player::Protocols::HTTP::ParseMetadata (153) Icy metadata received: StreamTitle='Nemesis - Koobi Fora';StreamUrl=''; Log lines as below are metadata extracted by SBS Slim::Player::Protocols::HTTP::readMetaData (115) Metadata: StreamTitle='Nemesis - Koobi Fora';StreamUrl=''; -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84970 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Thanks BPA. What I dont understand is why half of all the local FM channels display Artist, Song Title, Favorite name correctly; while the rest of the FM channels do not. I dont use dedicated hardware clients... only software based. Thanks again for all your help, MKANET bpa;604811 Wrote: I did a bit more digging. Log lines as follows are metadata received from player Slim::Player::Protocols::HTTP::ParseMetadata (153) Icy metadata received: StreamTitle='Nemesis - Koobi Fora';StreamUrl=''; Log lines as below are metadata extracted by SBS Slim::Player::Protocols::HTTP::readMetaData (115) Metadata: StreamTitle='Nemesis - Koobi Fora';StreamUrl=''; -- mkanet mkanet's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7965 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84970 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] update or not
It's a very big version leap maybe things goes more smoothly if you do a totally clean install ? Just my 2c . Can be tedious to put in all settings and Squeeze Network and pin codes is no more you use an email instead (on mysqueezebox.com). Plugin install is very simple in new sbs just use the plugin tab ib the web ui as dicribed by the other posters :) no more manually copying stuff to certain folders and you can have the plugins updating themselfs to -- Mnyb Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH and assorted amps SiriuS, Classe' Primare and Dynadio speakers, Contour 4 Contour Center, and Contour 1.3SE rear ch.
