Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android

2011-02-12 Thread rbz5416

I've just downloaded the app. to my HTC Wildfire. It found my server
connected to the last used player, displaying the album art of the last
played song. I then switched to album view as the list was populated,
errors started occurring with album art being duplicated to incorrect
albums. This appears (apparently) randomly throughout the list with (at
a rough estimate) only some 10% of albums having the correct art.

I then switched back to the player view the album art that had
displayed correctly previously was now blurred to the point of being
unrecognisable.

I have a 300 x 300 Folder.jpg in each folder most, if not all, are
embedded with MP3Tag.

All art displays correctly in the web GUI of SBS.

You can't. It's a squeezebox server side function.

See squeezeslave -h or the wiki for a complete list of options.

Mysqueezebox only supports logitech hardware players.

[slim] Wimp and Local Squeezebox Server

2011-02-12 Thread Pank

Hi,
I'm trying out Wimp in Denmark. The Jive interface is quite nice and
the service seem nice, although extremely expensive (this, of course,
has nothing to do with Logitech).

However, I wondered whether it is possible to integrated Wimp with
one's local Squeezebox Server? The reasons are threefold.
First, it does not seem like one can sync a client connected to
mysqueezebox and the local server.

Second, searching for Wimp music would be vastly easier from :9000,
having keyboard and such. Also, my roomie almost exclusively use :9000
for controlling the Boom.

Third, having to connect to mysqueezebox to access Wimp causes an
annoying delay. The way the podcast application works, where one
accesses the mysqueezebox podcast repository transparently is much
nicer in my opinion.

Thanks in advance,
Rasmus

Re: [slim] Recent SB3 Firmware problems

2011-02-12 Thread Phil Meyer
I haven't rebooted my router in a long time, so I'll try that and see if the
SB3 behaves itself better. Just seems coincidental that it happened recently,
following a firmware update.
Well, I rebooted router and PC, and it seemed to be behaving itself for a week.

However, this morning the SB3 got stuck again.

For some reason, SBS seemed to die overnight (no error message, process just
died). This morning I noticed the disconnected message on my SB3, which was
permanently displayed. I could not left-arrow to get to setup and try to
reconnect, or select to connect to mysqueezebox.com. I had to hard-reset
player.

Irrespective of what state my Router or SBS is, the player should handle
errors, and allow me to get to setup screen to connect to a different source.

It has been fine (apart from the extremely bright disconnected message that
disobeys my brightness setting and stays up too long) until the last firmware
update.

Re: [slim] Minimum hardware spec to run SBS

2011-02-12 Thread Mnyb

I'm usinh a 1,2 ghz via-epia with 1 gB of ram running linux this works
fine,
Have not noticed any slugishness with my iPad , maybe album art would
not be there imidietly but the interface is never unresponsive or
freezing but i' m upgrading anyway.

The old generation via cpu is a little weak in the fpu area even if it
has one, so lame transcoding can use all cpu and sox transcoding 24/96
to 24/48 runs circa40% cpu.

So I'm going to the new via nano or dual core atom.

Note that during this time my music collection has gone from 1000
albums to 2500 albums 3 files.
and I've found a method to rip dvda so I have circa 1500 hirez files
And from one SB3 to SB3, Touch ,Boom , and Radio and one controller and
one iPad.

these never color graphic players use more server resources than the
old ones.

But from an 1,2 ghz linux driven via- epia c7 or better it should
work.

Less resources and you will sacrife not only performance but also
functions such as transcoding of AAC radio streams for you SB3 or
Boom.

So the non x86 like solutions that some uses will not run any
transcoding and may not run resource intensive plugins either.

Re: [slim] You are not authorized=Sirius You are logged in in another location=Slacker

2011-02-12 Thread bwaldron

There is an option for anyone who is getting kicked out of the SiriusXM
streaming: XMTuner (http://www.xmtuner.net/) can be used to generate
channel URLs on your LAN that can be played (and assigned to favorites)
via Squeezebox Server.

Obviously not as friendly as the app, and you'll lose track info
display, but it does work and will stream for as long as you like
without being kicked off (in my experience).

It's a Windows app, so you'll need a Windows machine on your network to
run it.

Maybe I add a configuration option...

Pippin,
Love the playback option. I have it running over a PPTP VPN server
with no problems.

I would like to request a configuration option for bit rate limiting
also for another reason. I have been using a Verizion Mifi (3G WiFi
Hotspot). As a result iPeng thinks I am on a WiFi connection and is
not transcoding my FLACs. I had to manually set bit rate limiting on
player via the Web UI which is a bit of a pain on your iDevices.

By the way, with the Verizoin Mifi, I was able to stream FLAC almost
flawlessly. It was over 10 to 15 minutes before it had a minor
buffering stutter which clued me in to the issue.

Thanks,

[slim] How to get track info from a web radio station to show on Squeezebox touch?

2011-02-12 Thread Nick_G

Hi all.

I've just discovered this superb eclectic/electronic radio station
called Pedro's Broadcasting Basement, run by the DJ Laurent Garnier:

http://pbb.laurentgarnier.com:8000/pbb

Now, although it plays fine, the current song playing info that shows
up in iTunes isn't showing up on the Squeezebox Touch. Is this
something to do with the way the stream is set up? I tried adding a
.m3u extension to the url but it still won't display the info.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Playback comes to iPeng

2011-02-12 Thread lurknomo

Could some post a quick summary on how to use iPeng remotely (via 3G or
non-LAN WiFi) using a VPN. My Squeezecenter server is on a Mac Mini
running Snow Leopard. I am using 2GB Time Capsule for wireless
connectivity. I also have an WRT-54G running DD-WRT for secondary
wireless network serving some Tivos. I will be streaming to an iPhone
4.

I guess I'm not that familiar with VPNs, and find this topic a bit
confusing. I'm not sure how to set up, or even procure, a VPN suitable
for personal use.

I looked at the WiTopia service, but this did not seem appropriate as
only one subscriber device at a time communicates with their VPN
gateway. For this application, both iPhone and Squeezecenter server
would simultaneously access the VPN, correct?

Thanks.

[slim] SBS 7.5.3: new (old) problems with folder/file names?

2011-02-12 Thread marcoc1712

Hi,

I Upgraded my SBS to 7.5.3 last week and after that I've noticed that
some album is not listed in my library when:

1. In the folder\file name I have 2 blanks (i.e. E:\Alfa Beta\...)

2. In the folder\file name I have a non English character (i.e
E:\AlfaBéta)

No problem with foreign characters in TAGS, only in the filenames.

Non 100% sure was not like that before, but sound strange to me...

Anyone experienced the same? I'm going to go back to 7.5.2 and see
whats happen.

Thanks, Marco.

Been enjoying playback via iPad - many thanks Pippin. I find it's
particularly convenient for listening while in the bath.

One oddity this morning: I listened to Brian Matthews Sounds of the
Sixties via BBC iPlayer. When I subsequently demonstrated how cool the
new app is to my younger daughter by playing Evanescence, the demo was
somewhat undermined by the grinning face of Brian Matthews remaining on

this. A full power-down of iPeng did the trick and it hasn't happened
since. Just thought I'd mention it in case it might be of significance

list was re-populated (although the errors appeared random not
repeated in a pattern). Then SC crashed (I've sent a report).

I then cold booted the Wildfire things improved significantly.
Cleared the cache yet again it now appears to be correct.

You are right, if there is a problem with the artwork, clearing the
cache (Clear and Rescan on your SBS and/or Clear Cache in
SqueezeCommander) often helps.

And a cold reboot of the phone may also be a good idea sometimes to
kill all zombie background processes.

Good to hear that you've figured it out.

Fingers crossed the logouts don't resume.

Well that was short-lived. 2 days with no logoffs but today I got the
dreaded error several times.
sigh

I use XMtuner on my PC at work like the way it works. Simple. No
problems. Maybe the developer will create a plugin for us? :)

Another plug for Radio Paradise - I listen to their AAC+ stream and the
quality is excellent...and they play terrific eclectic music to boot.
