Dear,
I don't know if SC is compatible with SB 7.6.
In my case, I use SC 751 and port 9002. You can check it by trying
connecting your server with HTTP : http://yournasIP:9002/

Re: [slim] Firewall problems on Mac after installing 7.5.3

2011-03-15 Thread shlea

Hi all,

It appears I have found a solution to this. The firewall on my Mac OS X
10.6.6 had blocked a few programs called
Perl5.10.0
krb5kdc
nmbd

I don't know what these programs do, bit I tried unblocking one after
the other. The Perl5.10.0 did the magic!

Leaving that one open and the to other ones blocked the Squeezeserver
discover and connects to both my SB Touch and Receiver.

Does this help for anyone else?
Is there someone out there who knows what these programs do?

[slim] Accessing Squuezecentre library from other locations

2011-03-15 Thread Ant

Hi all

not sure whether this is the right place for this question, but after
searching the forum I can't find an answer...

Is it possible to access a squeezebox library from a remote location
over the internet?

What I want is to access my home library from another house, using a pc
there, then stream the file to the stereo via either another squeezebox
device or some other product, or possibly just connect a laptop to a
stereo with good old fashioned cables!

So for example, if I was visiting my brother and I wanted to play a new
track from my library, could I access my own squeezebox library over the
internet?

So for reference my current set up is:
QNAP TS109II running slimserver 7.01 ish and accessed via a Squeezebox
Duet.

Thanks for any advice, Ant

Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !

2011-03-15 Thread andyman99

I'll check exact revisions etc tonight, but I believe I am on the latest
standard releases of all s/w.

The exact steps I did to repeat the problem were: (all with
squeezepad)

1/ Fire up App with both SBR's off (Kitchen and Lounge)
2/ Turn on Kitchen
3/ Create playlist (multiple tracks so continuous music stream)
4/ Start listening on Kitchen
5/ Turn on Lounge so listening on both
normal behaviour at this point
6/ Turn off Kitchen
as soon as I do this the track playtime freezes and starts jumping in
steps (typically 60s). This continues through all the tracks on the
playlist. I haven't tried clearing the playlist and starting afressh at
this point
7/ Power Kitchen back on and it behaves OK

[slim] No audio files in album directory...

2011-03-15 Thread pseud

Hello

I have strange problem, I have been trying to add Bach's Goldberg
Variations to the music library. I did so successfully 1st time, but
removed it to change the artist/title tags file names. Since then
I've been trying to re-add it - but, only the artist and album
directories are recognised by SbS and the audio files aren't at all
(even when navigating to them via the Music Folder).

I guess something's been corrupted in the database somehow, but I've
run a rescan by the Clear library and rescan everything option with
no joy. Any ideas?

Thx,
Morgan.

Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !

2011-03-15 Thread bluegaspode

Aha - your Squeezboxes are synced.
And you are looking at the progess-bar of a Squeezebox that is not
playing anything (because it is turned off) but still synced.

So this explains
a) why the progress isn't running continously = because the playback
is stopped for this particular Squeezebox
b) why the progress still jumps = because the Squeezebox is synced and
the server still updates the progress from time to time, anticipating
that you might turn on your Squeezebox later on and expect it to show
the same state as the running Squeezebox.

60 seconds is the maximum status update interval for a Squeezebox. As
the Squeezebox is turned off, the server has no other events that might
update the status with a faster rate.
There is only the regular 60s 'keep alive' status update (which then
abruptly changes the progress because of the synchronization).

The only 'proper' way to handle this (avoiding the jumps for turned off
and synced Squeezeboxes) is just to have a big 'this Squeezebox is
turned off' banner, not rendering cover image, playlist and current
state.
(Like on a real Squeezebox one only sees the 'off' screensaver just
with a clock - so on a real Squeezebox one would not realize as well,
that the progress is kept in sync every 60 seconds behind the scenes)

Unfortunately this comes at a cost: right now one can start a song even
if a Squeezebox is turned off.

Interesting case indeed. But I don't think that I can change that
behaviour.
I guess when you turn one Squeezebox off you should just switch back to
your still playing Squeezebox in SqueezePad to see a running progess
bar.

Re: [slim] Ethernet Appears Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection

2011-03-15 Thread smithw

As stated previously a single player is located at location 1, while the
other two players were 100 klm's away at location 2.

The player at location 1 was displaying the same symptoms as the two
players at location 2, as described in the first post.

The problem with player 1 resolved by changing the server version from
7.5.3 to 7.5.2. 7.6.0 also works with ethernet but there appears to be
a volume gain issue..

The two players at location 2 appear to have experienced failure of the
wired Ethernet connections simultaneously (meaning between uses).

Server versions between 7.5.1 and 7.6.0. and firmware between 131 to
135 have been tested with these two other players and there has been no
success with achieving wired Ethernet connection as the 'setup wired
Ethernet connection process stalls' with, Ethernet Appears
Disconnected Please Check Your Network Connection.

Something happened to the 2 players at location 2 that did not affect 3
routers, 4 PC's, several network switches and 3 voip ata connectors plus
several network IP cameras that were all connected on the same LAN.

To further this mystery the two players at location 2 were separated by
around 40 meters of Cat5e cable with several switches, routers and
networked devices interspersed throughout this distance.

Further evidence that it is not a local infrastructure wired LAN
network problem is that the new SB Touch and SB Duet that were
installed over the weekend in place of the 2 players at location 2,
using the same upstream hardware, have both connected via wired
Ethernet without a problem.

These 2 problem SB Classics will still connect via wireless.

These 2 problem SB Classics have been also tested at location 1 and the
issue remains.

From testing and process of elimination to date, it appears that wired
Ethernet has failed on these 2 SB Classics for reasons unknown, while
all other networked devices on the LAN remain unaffected.

Resetting by holding 1, +, and brightness on separate occasions while
applying power to both the units has been performed many times.

It appears these 2 players have become junk unless wireless connections
are acceptable.

create a custom-convert.conf file with the appropriate entries, and put

Lame is needed if transcoding to or from mp3 is required.

However i've got no idea what a suitable custom-convert.conf should be.

Re: [slim] Help with modifying convert.conf file

2011-03-15 Thread vrette

I would be nice if the advanced settings page for file types in SBS was
set up as matrix with the file types running down the left side (like
it is now) but also a couple of drop down boxed across the top where
you could pick out specific players on your network if you needed to do
what I'm attempting to accomplish. Perhaps I should put that on the
feature request / wish list?

Thanks. Installing LAME is easy. I don't have that many MP3s,but now
I'm wondering in general if it is better to transcode the MP3s on the
server, or on the Touch. The server can certainly handle it. That even
make sense?

Huh? The Touch doesn't transcode. But it will play MP3 natively.

Since you refer to the MP3s you have, what would you transcode them to?
The more common situation is users in limited bandwidth environments
having the server transcode from lossless to MP3 (see 'bitrate
limiting', which is a per-player setting).

Re: [slim] Help with modifying convert.conf file

2011-03-15 Thread Mnyb

Touch ? Was it not squeezeslave that was the problem ? ( only 44.1kHz )
. But chipmunks ? That means finding something with lower samplingrate
than 44.1 ( more common 48kHz material will sound slightly slower ).
Are they such radio streams ?

However another spanner in the works could be syncing...

I was thinking about it the wrong way and yes, it doesn't make sense.
:)

But what I need to do is increase the sample rate of radio station
streamed MP3s to a minimum of 44.1 kHz sample rate so they don't sound
like the Chipmunks when played with Squeezeslave.

Well, good luck with that, but before you spend a lot of hours figuring
it out you may find that an easier solution is to use a hardware SB.
Your present SBs are just crying out for a new brother or sister

It's easy enough to create a custom-convert.conf that forces everything
MP3 to 44.1 via SOX...

Moose is a UI. It does however support running squeezeslave or
Softsqueeze. What's nice is that you can have Moose run at startup in
