It should be available in Japan, right, as it was some weeks ago when i installed it to my 2.3.1 rom. Just wanted to ask... how did you get it in Japan? Re: [slim] Problem with SB3 analog output...
Then I can only think of two options: 1) There's something wrong with your Squeezebox Server setup, so that the automatic volume adjustment ReplayGain has gone haywire. Or something in that vein. 2) Or there's a hardware error in the output stage of your SB3. In the latter case, don't throw it away. I've been using Squeezeplay on my laptop to remotely access my SBS for a long time. I had to format and reinstall everything last week and on my new Squeezeplay installation I'm not getting anywhere. Second, when I go to that site and log into my account, I'm unable to find any place where I would enter a pin number. When I wait, it tries to connect to mysqueezebox.com and fails. Re: [slim] Let's make the Squeezebox to the ultimate music discovery device!
1. - HOW DO YOU FIND MUSIC IN YOUR OWN LIBRARY? Browse by artists, playlists(static and dynamic) - WHICH TYPE OF REMOTE/INTERFACE DO YOU USE ? DIFFERENT FOR DIFFERENT SITUATIONS ? Web interface and android. - DO YOU FIND MUSIC THROUGH STATISTICS BASED BROWSE MENUS ? (RATINGS, PLAY COUNTS, HISTORY) Not at all. Play counts and history could be useful. But my squeezeserver only contains a small fraction of my played music. Since I've only had it for a month and listen on a lot of different devices. Although last.fm has quite a bit of it. - DO YOU FIND MUSIC THROUGH SMART PLAY LISTS BASED ON STATISTICS OR RANDOM SELECTION OR OTHER KIND OF AUTOMATIC MIXES ? Dynamic playlists on occasions when I come up with good search terms. - DO YOU USE ALBUM ART WHEN SELECTING WHAT TO PLAY ? Yes, I think it helps. - DO YOU TYPICALLY START SEARCHING/BROWSING FROM AN ARTIST, ALBUM OR TRACK AND WANT TO FIND SOMETHING RELATED TO THAT ? I have used it in other players where it was visible. 2. HOW DO YOU USUALLY FIND NEW MUSIC YOU LIKE TO GET BUT CURRENTLY DON'T HAVE IN YOUR LIBRARY ? Recomendations from friends and last.fm and then onto spotify or similar to listen in to it. - HEARD IT ON THE RADIO ? No - WHERE DO YOU START WHEN SEARCHING ? TOP CHARTS ? GENRES ? SIMILAR ARTISTS SIMILAR ARTISTS OR TAGS. - DO YOU USE SOME WEB SITE WHEN SEARCHING OR DO YOU BROWSE SOME MUSIC STORE DIRECTLY ? Last.fm - ARE YOU USING THE COMPUTER, YOUR SQUEEZEBOX OR SOME OTHER DEVICE WHEN SEARCHING FOR NEW MUSIC ? My computer - DO YOU PREVIEW THE MUSIC BEFORE PUCHASING ? Spotify or similar services - DO YOU PREVIEW IT ON THE REAL SYSTEM OR CHEEP LAPTOP SPEAKERS OR SOMETHING SIMILAR ? Realsystem, laptop with headphones or computer speakers. - DO YOU USE A SUBSCRIPTION BASED SERVICE...? Spotify, last.fm - THROUGH FRIENDS ? Yes HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE ABLE TO FIND MUSIC IN YOUR OWN LIBRARY IN THE FUTURE ? While similar artist are good I would like my library to learn what I like and give me suggestions from that. Answering questions such as: - What songs have been played more than any other songs on the album? - What did I listen to during last summer? Navigate through timelines. - Using tags to navigate my collection, just genres are not good enough. - Using api's such as last.fm or echonest to navigate through my music using other data. - Give me all songs that does not contain the word love(Could maybe use musixmatch. Haven't looked into their data that much yet). Some of these already are possible with sql playlist. I guess a big feature for me would be to be able to get my whole listening history in to the database. 4. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO FIND NEW MUSIC YOU LIKE TO BUY/GET IN THE FUTURE ? I'm happy with my current approach. 5. WHAT KIND OF TAGGING/MANAGEMENT DO YOU DO ON NEW MUSIC YOU ADD TO YOUR LIBRARY TO MAKE IT EASIER TO FIND STUFF LATER ON ? Run everything through piccard and then use a small script to add last.fm tags to each artist. - IS THE FOLDER STRUCTURE THE MUSIC FILES ARE STORED IN IMPORTANT ? Split albums gives me some problems but other than that, no. - DO YOU MANUALLY ADD RATINGS TO YOUR MUSIC ? WHY ? No, When I'm listening active moste of the time I'm not at a device that let med ad raitings. 6. DO YOU SYNCHRONIZE THE DATA IN SBS WITH SOME OTHER APPLICATION TO MAKE IT EASIER TO FIND INTERESTING MUSIC ? *- Import statisitcs from MusicIP ?* No, haven't tried MusicIP yet. - IMPORT FILES, PLAYLISTS AND STATISTICS FROM ITUNES ? Don't use iTunes and alot of moving around and using different players has made me loose most of my statistics and playlists. -- anomie anomie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43288 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80910 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] How can I listen to my music in the garden?
The most reliable method would be to buy a Wireless Access Point from a computer store, place it near a window facing your garden and connect it to your existing BT modem with a long network cable. This will hopefully give you the range you need but the down side is you may need to run a long cable between rooms. Using the repeater option mentioned is also good and requires no cables between your router and the wireless access point but is a little more fiddly to setup and in my experience isn't quite as reliable as the first option. You should be able to do both options yourself by following the manual that comes with the access point but if you can't you would need to get an IT guy to come out and sort it. It should take them 30 mins max to set it all up for you and check your radio can get a signal. It would be worth listing the model you wish to buy here first as most but not all support the repeater function. -- Jaicee Jaicee's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=45802 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87094 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Android Controller App
I tried out the Logitech app today which was a big selling point of Squeezebox to me (I don't want any extra remotes especially ones that cost £150!) but was a bit disappointed. The layout seems very nice and it has all the functionality but boy is it slow! I haven't read through all 19 pages here but I hope there's an explanation for why simple things such as artists lists are almost impossible to scroll through. I was expecting something as slick as the XBMC remote app which if the developers haven't tried they should have a look at. It looks nice and is very fast, can wake up XBMC machines through WOL etc and is generally very good at what it does, about the only thing it doesn't do well is the error messages it pops when you don't have a wireless connection which are a bit user unfriendly (but they don't crash the app). I've tried out Squeezedroid which works but is not quite as pretty as I'd like but is otherwise quite functional. It looks like I'll have to purchase squeezecommander as that has been getting good reviews and the authoer on these boards seems very responsive. For your information my phone is an Orange San Francisco (rebadged ZTE Blade) with Froyo on board. I've tried it with CM7 and that was perhaps a tiny bit faster but overall still very sluggish. -- Jaicee Jaicee's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=45802 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86487 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

And you can not select a category. 2. there is a search: parameter for things like albums, tracks, artists, etc but that also only applies to the very search you are looking for. You could synthesize something: search for artists with artistName, get the artist ID and then search for all albums with the artistID and an albumName plus maybe recurse if you get more than one matching artist, but given the server's search performance that approach will - after all the effort - give you just ridiculous search times, so it's not really an option. -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote and *New: iPeng for iPad*, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87095 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
