[slim] Pause mode
My squeezebox radio always start in pause mode. That is no problem when I turn the device on manually. However, the alarm-function does not wake me up as I have to push play to get the music started. Just wanted to follow up regarding the rooted nook color. I never could get the official app to work. I started trying various other ones. Squeezetrol didn't work either at all but both SqueezeCommander and Sqeezer worked perfect right off the bat. The interface for Squeezer was lacking so I'm now with SqueezeCommander. Thanks everyone for helping to diagnose/debug! I'm thinking its something in the way that they are making network calls. [slim] Squeezebox Touch and Receiver both stopping after one track
Hoping someone can help me with an ongoing problem. I had been having this problem with my squeezebox receiver, and just replaced it with a new Touch as i thought (hoped) the problem might be related to an insufficient-size buffer. However, the problem remains with the Touch. The problem is that playback will often (but not always) stop after the first track of an album is played. Eventually the second track will start, sometimes after about a minute or so. I had thought that the problem was bandwith-related, as I am playing back FLAC files and my main wireless router is quite far away from the squeezebox in question, and I use a repeater to extend the coverage (I get a signal level of close to 100%, although I realize that using the repeater halves the bandwith). However, strangely enough, if I'm in the middle of the first track and advance to the second track, there's no delay--the second track immediately starts. I can also fast-forward within the first track without delay. That's why I'm fairly sure that the problem is NOT a bandwith problem, although obviously i can't be certain and don't have the option of using an ethernet connection to test it in that location. Another thing worth mentioning is that when this happens (i.e., when the first track ends and during the period of delay before the second track starts), whatever I'm using as my controller (sometime iPeng, sometimes a remote laptop) becomes non-responsive--i can't just force the second track to start. It seems that at some point the communication between the server and player is interrupted. I should also mention that I had used this setup for years without this problem. I believe it began to happen after the the last major Squeeze Server upgrade (when it went from from 7.3 to 7.4, I believe). Has anyone else had this problem, and figured out how to solve it? Instead of the shortcut in the startup folder, create a text file called something like startplay.cmd The .cmd is essential- you may have to change folder options by using control panel/folder options/view and uncheck Hide extensions for known file types. In that text file,enter timeout x c:\program files\squeezebox\squeezeplay\squeezeplay.exe where x is the number of seconds you want to wait before trying to run squeezeplay. I would be inclined to move the player near the router and connect it via an ethernet cable. If you still experience the problem then you can be pretty sure it's not network related. If you don't then I would hook up via wifi at that distance. Another suggestion would be to look into your comptuer's sleep/display settings and see if those have changed for some reason. I've installed BBCiPlayer plugin so there is a directory now /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/BBCiPlayer ( I use Ubuntu ). Then I created directory BBCiPlayerExtra under Plugins /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/BBCiPlayerExtra and unzipped files there, restarted the server, but I can't see Archives menu when I click on BBCiPlayer in the squeezebox (it appears under Home-Internet Radio) There is no menu item BBCiPlayerExtra. Where it should be - directly under Home or under Home-Extra ? You need to install the BBCiPlayerExtra plugin using the standard Plugins install method and makes sure it works. It will appear as a menu BBCiPlayerExtra in the Internet Radio menu. I've added a few comments to my article - I'm not sure your custom-convert.conf is right, but I think that's on your To-dos (there seems to be a typo on FLAC - you have a 44k sample-rate, rather than 44.1k?) Plugin.pm is still referencing plugins/WaveInput/, by the way ;) I've had no problems with fragility, quality, or skipping - just the very occasional pause. Is there an issue with hairtunes using different ports? I was under the impression that it was always UDP port 5000? Seems like when I first started messing with this app I once got a 2-pane view of the Now Playing window but haven't been able to duplicate this since.
