[slim] Buffering/ synchronisation/ alarm problems
Hi all - not sure where to post this thread as I have too many problems, adn changed too many tings in one go to have an idea of where to start... I recently changed my server from an NAS to a WHS 2011 server box (1.3GHz dual core, 2GB RAM) which is rather nippy. I also upgraded to SBS 7.6.1. Since then I have noted several problems: - Synchronising players takes a long time - My morning alarm on my Radio no longer plays the BBC Radio 4 stream - it immediately play the back up alarm (I think this may be related to this problem http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89292 but did not occur in my previous set up) - I am getting frequent rebuffering on my wireless players I have been working on my wireless set up - I have changed the channel and that has made things slightly more reliable, possibly, but I was wondering if anyone had any idea of what might be causing my issues. And I can't role back to old hardware as the drives from my NAS are now in my server ... Thanks! Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3
Hello. Hope somebody here can help me. First of all. Ive used an earlier version of ACC and I think it is marvelous! It gave me a very nice catalogue of all my music. Now I have resintalled a new PC and a new Squeezebox server and I am not able to make ACC run. PC is running windows XP with servicepack 3. Norwegian version. This means I dont have C:\Program Files, but I have C:\Programfiler Squeezebox server installed is latest version 7,6,1 and data and server are all installed on the same PC Running ACC 3.4 and MySQLconnection 5.1.9, (installed from mysql-connector-odbc-5.1.9-win32.msi) All 32bit Windows XP, Squeezebox server, the music collection and ACC are all installed and running on the same PC. Nothing is remote I have removed HKEY-CURRENT_USER\Software\ACC key from the registry, but still no success. I have tried to turn off Windows firewall and antivirus but no success. I will be very happy any feedback on this. Yes, unfortunately bridging does not work with Rhapsody anymore, and there are no plans to fix this. Sorry for grave digging this thread, but the play all menu item annoys me too. More than once I clicked accidently on it. I have menus like Composer-Genre-Work-Movement. Re: [slim] KFI 640 AM Los Angeles
I finally found a working method: 1) I made sure my Boom was linking to SqueezeBox Server (actually it's now Logitech Media Server) on my PC. (instead of MySqueezeBox.com, as I used to have it) 2) On the Boom off the root menu, I *manually* initiated a search for KFI by actually entering in the characters K F I using the dial knob. 3) Once the search successfully found KFI, I hit the 'next' arrow to play the station. This method seems to have worked...for now. I saved the found version of KFI as one of my six preset buttons, and it always seems to play from there. However, when I attempt to save the found version of KFI as a Favorite, then try to play the Favorite later, KFI craps out. Same thing happens if I set the Boom's alarm to play the found version of KFI at a set time. This method of searching and saving ClearChannel stations to the six presets also worked for KNEW and KOGO. And similarly, playability craps out using any other methodologies. I suspect that this tenuous success means my Boom's days are numbered, and I'm going to have to upgrade to one of the new AAC-friendly Squeezebox models. Hate to do that, though, and lose the double speaker power of the Boom in the process...UNLESS...unless others on this form can vouch for the equivalent/near-equivalent quality sound of the newer models. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android
Hi Christian, Congratulations on fatherhood. I've got 3-kids in my home and all have SB radios in their rooms. The oldest has a Motorola Defy (Android) phone as well. We definitely favor Android products with a total of 3 Android smartphones and a WiFi XOOM tablet. My kids also have 2G iPod Touch's with iPeng, so we have a range of devices and apps to power our SB experience. Having been an iPeng user long before owning an Android phone, initially, if given a choice, I would reach for the iPod touch rather than my Android phone to control the tunes. However, the more I used SqueezeCommander, the more I liked it. Don't get me wrong, iPeng rocks, but the Swype text input advantage of Android over iOS makes all the difference in the world for doing searches. SqueezeCommander is currently heads and shoulders above all the other Android control options. What troubles me the most for our devices is: 1. SqueezeCommander is unusable on Honeycomb, attempting to browse artists in my Rhapsody Library immediately crashes the app 2. WiFi connection issues with SqueezeCommander on the phones Impact of #1 to us is far worse as I am forced to use the logi app which though decent, is no match for iPeng or S-Comm. We still use SqueezeCommander on a Moto Droid-X and HTC MyTouch 4g (Glacier) on a daily basis, working thru the connection hiccups. In comparison, the issues with Honeycomb are so severe that I've uninstalled SqueezeCommander on the XOOM for the time being. Is there a formal bug process or can I help you with more info on the above items? Re: [slim] VortexBox micro NAS (You asked for it)
I can see that there might be reasons why the micro appliance is not such an attractive proposition now that there is another fanless but bigger machine with a cd drive for slightly less. But I love mine which I bought early in 2009, except that there is a problem when sending large amounts of data to it (via either Samba or SSH). I've looked on the Fedora forums and the issue might be the Realtex r8168 ethernet chip and the driver used for it. I can work around this issue by always moving data onto the microappliance using an external hard drive, but it is a pain having to do this every time I buy a new cd. I'm just trying to collect together the things that I will need to install Vortexbox 1.10 on my microappliance (a monitor with the correct input socket, a USB keyboard, and possibly an external cd drive in case the update procedure doesn't work). Can anybody (maybe Andrew?) reassure me that if I do go through all of this, the microappliance will work at the end of it? If somebody has done this, and has found that it cures the flaw with the ethernet card then that would be even better of course. But it would be great if somebody could tell me that they have already installed Vortexbox 1.10 on the Fit-PC/microappliance and that it works. -- ianl ianl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32545 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71035 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
