Indeed. I hate to have switch Apps just to play a link as it is now,
would be too cool if I could have that automagically. And no, even I
don't want to do all my browsing from within iPeng...

Re: [slim] Squeezebox vs. Apple TV - Give me some arguments for keeping my Squeezeboxes

2012-04-02 Thread pippin

You could use the one in iPeng Party which is fullscreen in portrait...
but wait...

my biggest issues with using iPeng's browser permanently are that it's
considerably slower than the regular one due to the link checker (which
is the whole point of the browser so little chance to solve it but maybe
I can check some stuff later) and that some pages can make it crash due
to a bug (or lousy programming) in the Webkit JavaScript engine
although the latter just got better with iOS 5.1.

I use it a lot with facebook, which actually became my landing page in
iPeng. Now if facebook only didn't have this nasty habit of showing
fewer music posts in the mobile client (it's the same in the facebook
App) than in the full web version, for some reason, facebook seems to
think I'm less interested in music when I use my iPad and more
interested in all the spam my football team sends me

But it's a good idea to add a full-screen-view, I'll keep that in mind
for the redesign.

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Squeezeslave: 1.2 released

2012-04-02 Thread bobkoure

Hi Ralphy,
I'm testing squeezeslave-1.2L-320.exe on a WinXPSP3 box.
When I first start it, I get the error:
the procedure entry point NtAlpcSendWaitReceivePort could not be
located in the dynamic link library ntdll.dll

This does not happen with squeezeslave-asio-1.1-281.exe (or any of the
previous versions I've tried) on that same machine.

I searched a bit with this error message, came up with the suggestion
to rename \windows\system32\avrt.dll to something else.
Doing so fixed my issue. It's just one system, so just 'anecdata', but
might be useful if someone else has this issue.

One question: If I use the -L option to get a list of output devices,
how then do I use -n to specify that device? for instance, -L gets me
Output devices:
* 4: (Windows DirectSound) Primary Sound Driver (119/239)
5: (Windows DirectSound) SoundMAX HD Audio (119/239)
6: (Windows DirectSound) BEHRINGER USB AUDIO (119/239)
7: (ASIO) BEHRINGER USB AUDIO (5/5)

So, if I want to specify #7, what part of that string do I use? I've
tried (ASIO) BEHRINGER USB AUDIO (5/5) and (ASIO) BEHRINGER USB
AUDIO, neither of which worked. Got any suggestions?

Thanks!

[slim] Planned outage - Wed April 4th

2012-04-02 Thread Michael Herger
We're about to move forums.slimdevices.com to a new home. At the same time
we'll be updating the vbulletin to the latest version to give you great
new features, like eg. a skin for mobile devices etc.

The move is planned for Wednesday April 4, about 5-8am PST.

A few FAQ:
- are you going to move these forums to the feature limited
forums.logitech.com site? NO! We're sticking with the current software,
but are updating to the latest version.
- will the mailing lists continue to work? Yes.
- will Tapatalk continue to work? Yes.

Once the migration has finished, please let us know about any problem
you're encountering.

[slim] Help needed setting up iTunesUpdate in LMS!

2012-04-02 Thread Finchy

Hi all

I've still not been able to set up my Touch/LMS to update the
playcounts in iTunes and have been sidetracked but am trying again
now!

I'm going to try with iTunesupdate first to see if that does what I
need, as TrackStat looks better but needs more time to get good use out
of it.

I have iTunesupdate installed and can find the itunesupdate.pl file in
C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins\iTunesUpdate
but I'm not sure what to do with it next.

I have Perl installed, but where does iTunesUpdate store the text file
with the played tracks? And what script do I use to get it to update?

The iTunes music is on the F:\iTunes, Perl installed on C:\ and iTunes
data files in C:\Users\Finchy\Music\iTunes if that helps!

Thanks!

[slim] [FS/T] Trade SB3 for Radio, or ?

2012-04-02 Thread plympton

I have 2 spare Squeezebox 3 / Classic's, and can't quite figure out a
use for them (have 3 others + boom, no more rooms in house :-))
They're in great condition (White Black), have remote power supply,
no box.

Would anyone be interested in trading one for a Radio or Boom or
AppleTV or...?

I also have a pink Pogoplug + USB dock that I was playing with as a
server, but decided to just keep SBS on my HTPC in the end.

Thanks!
-Dan
