Re: [slim] M4a (sorry)
It is really easy to do using DBPowerAmp's Convertor facility - can convert to MP3 of any kind, FLAC of any level of compression etc etc etc. I would recommend that as a relatively easy and speedy way of getting the sound!!! sherington's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2587 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95072 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Audio skips when player synced
bpa wrote: Using Softsqueeze to debug sync is pointless as Softsqueeze is known not to sync reliably. Only the hardware players can sync reliably. Hi BPA. Thank you for your reply, but you misunderstand me. I installed SqueezeServer and the two instances of SoftSqueeze on a virtual machine purely to ascertain the sync values on a clean, default installation. I then took these values and applied them to my actual setup at home. I did this because I hadn't had a reply to my post asking for the default sync settings. Now that I have the default sync settings applied to my real, hardware setup at home, as described, I am still having issues when the players are synced. bpa wrote: To see what is happening I suggest enabling the logging (player.sync) as it will provide hard evidence on why LMS is trying to resync. For sync to work properly you need a good hardware clock on your PC - in the pastr some users have found that this is a cause of problems. This is useful information, thank you. Just to be clear, I am not yet using LMS, I am using SqueezeServer 7.6.1 Is logging supported on that version of SBS? Not sure how to enable logging, but I'll do some searching. spindoctor's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9855 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94993 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

ghostrider wrote: I use the same sync settings you specified and my players, one wired - one wireless, sync without issue. If you can send seperate streams to each player without problems I would guess that both your home network and server are strong. On the audio tab for each player, if you have crossfade enabled make sure the duration is the same for each player or turn it off. Lastly, try an xilinx reset on all your players. Remove power then reconnect while pressing the '1' key on your remote. This will sometimes correct strange problems. Good luck! I've not done this, but I will try. I have tried pressing and holding down the power button on the remote which appears to do a cold power on, rather than an 'on from standby' type start. I wll also check the crossfade Thanks spindoctor's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9855 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94993 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Mnyb wrote: How does it work with only the two wired players synced ? ( excluding anything wifi related ) Yeah, same. I wanted to eliminate wifi from the equation. I appears that I can sync players and power without issue - I don't bother with volume. I only seem to get the problem when I enable 'Maintain Sync' - and it kinda defeats the object of sync if I have to disable this setting. I will try logging and get back with any updates. spindoctor's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9855 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94993 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

You could also try using a USB sound card if you have one handy to prove it's the driver for your sound card and not squeezeslave. I had one system running Arch Linux with a same hanging issue when using the internal sound card but when I ran the same binary with a USB sound card it worked perfectly. Updating the ALSA snd_hda_intel kernel driver on this system fixed the hanging with the internal sound card. ralphy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3484 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93607 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

So that being the case, are you able to suggest default / recommended sync settings for my particular setup as described in my original post please? The settings may be part of LMS but the sync procedure has been changed and tweaked over the years and so there may be variations between players as players can vary (e.g. SB1 has a smaller buffer than SB3) . I think you should leave everything at the system installation default. Enable the logging. it will give you a clearer idea about what is happening and what is triggering the skips. Besides network issues. syncing relies on both LMS and players having accurate clocks and IIRC there were some users servers whose motherboards which had poor clocks (i.e. didn't keep good time) and this resulted in bad sync between players. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94993 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

bsmith1051 wrote: Isn't this the functionality that Whitebear is supposed to add? Yes, LMS added this in v7.7 (or v7.6 I don't recall). But Whitebear had it first !! So you have two options: a) use the LMS UPnP/DLNA plugin, or b) use Whitebear. IMHO Whitebear still provides better functionality, and faster and mor dynamic support. Re: [slim] Audio skips when player synced
I recently had an odd synching problem as well (see the thread below). Never could resolve the problem, and it was only a problem when temporarily using LMS on about a 4 year old Dell laptop running WinXP. No issues with vortexbox appliance, newer dell laptop... http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?94621-Synching-Problem-with-LMS-7-7-2-on-WinXP-machine-only-Help-with-debugginghighlight=skip+sync garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94993 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

ralphy wrote: I've only ever seen or had reports of this issue with ALSA, never with Windows or OSX. I'd believe it - sound has always been a bit hit-and-miss on this system (and it's not a clean install, but the hardware and O/S have been continuously upgraded over the last 6 or 7 years or so). The 325 version (with default portaudio) seems much better, and doesn't always lose the audio, so I can easily live with it for now... I've got it starting as a service, so while it's not a hard-hang I can always restart the service easily enough. But I'll let you know if it suddenly improves or worsens etc. Cheers -- Tim meercat's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93607 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !
Are you running your own server or are using the Touch inbuilt server? Is your Squeezebox maybe connected to MySqueezebox.com, so that you also cannot remote control it on the web interface of your server ? If that is case, just enter the 'my music' menu to make it switch back to your server . If you enter your MySqueezebox credentials into the server settings, SqueezePad would be able to see your Squeezebox also when not connected to your server. bluegaspode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80553 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
