[slim] iphone squeezebox app - why does it require me to login everytime to mysqueezebox.com
One thing that is bugging me is why everytime I start a session with the iphone SB app, I am prompted to enter my mysqueezebox.com username and password and login before I can use it. In the server interface, I have entered msb.com details and have sb integration switched on. Strangely I notice that the password dialogue box is empty even after I enter the password but that just may be how the interface works. Anybody got any ideas? For me the decision is clear; 95% of the time I use it to listen to my local music and the other 5% of the time is for streaming radio stations. Since I'll be moving to a bigger home in a couple of months time, I need additional streamers. And since I like the player sync option very much, the decision to buy additional SB's was easy. It was either that, or replace the players I already had by another system. But the latter will probably be a whole lot more expensive and won't bring any new features that hold a value for me. hvb83's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39615 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96230 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Mine used to do that and then it stopped requesting me to login. It was annoying and afterwards, perplexing. I now use the infinitely superior Orange Squeeze instead. I do use spotify a fair bit, this is to listen to albums before I decide to buy them or not and occasionally playlists from there - however I use Triodes plugin which as far as I'm aware runs seperately to mysb.com. Even less usage is of BBC radio which I think would still be available. That is a valid point of view, but many of us have centred our listening around SB products and, at the moment, it is difficult to think of anything else that provides the same versatility. For example, I use LMS/Touch to: - Play ripped CDs (OK I could use my CD player) - Play downloaded files, some of which are 96/24 or 88.2/24) - Play captured Radio 3 concerts (which have been in mp2, mp3, now in aac formats) - Play those concerts using cue files I've created - Listen to iPlayer (live and listen again) - Listen to Spotify - I have just installed the Inguz digital room correction and am about to set up the DRC filters JohnB's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96230 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] LMS Future! What's version 10 of UE Music Library
Hi, can someone tell me please, what the LMS version 10.0 UE Music Library on the nightly download side means? May be I'm dump, but I can't imagine what's this version for? Re: [slim] LMS Future! What's version 10 of UE Music Library
The 10.0 version is UE Music Library, the server software which is used for UE Smart Radio devices. It comes with two start scripts: - ueml.pl (Which starts it in UE Music Library mode) - slimserver.pl (Which starts it in LMS mode) I'm not sure how tested the LMS mode is at the moment, it might work but it might also be a bit broken because Logitech haven't had time to test it properly yet. The general difference between LMS and UE Music Library as I've understood it is: - UE Music Library doesn't allow installation of third party plugins - UE Music Library doesn't allow plugins which works on a specific player, for example Random Mix plugin and many other plugins doesn't work. - UE Music Library only provides the music content, the current playlist and player status is managed by the central cloud server at uesmartradio.com, so a remote control that wants to control a player needs to do it through uesmartradio.com - UE Music Library doesn't come with a web interface, as far as I've seen this means that you can only configure it through the configuration applets which are only available on Windows and OSX, while Linux users is referred to using a text editor and manually change the configuration files, for example to specify the music folder. Possibly it might be possible to configure it through the iPhone/Android apps also but to use them you need to have a UE Smart Radio and I haven't dared to upgrade one of my Radios yet. - UE Music Library isn't compatible with the Squeezebox hardware (it only works with UE Smart Radio) - UE Music Library only officially support OSX and Windows, you can use Linux if you like to but these are not supported and probably not tested much and you need to get them from 'http://downloads.slimdevices.com' (http://downloads.slimdevices.com/UEMusicLibrary_v10.0.0/unsupported/) because they aren't available on http://uesmartradio.com. erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96439 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

It comes with two start scripts: - ueml.pl (Which starts it in UE Music Library mode) - slimserver.pl (Which starts it in LMS mode) Please note that the download packages referred to here are UEML only. There's no slimserver.pl (or .exe) in there. - UE Music Library doesn't allow plugins which works on a specific player, for example Random Mix plugin and many other plugins doesn't work. There might soon be a workaround for Random Mix in the nightlies. It's not as smart as on LMS, but probably good enough for many uses (queue up a list of 100 random tracks - no automated renewal) - UE Music Library doesn't come with a web interface, as far as I've seen this means that you can only configure it through the configuration applets which are only available on Windows and OSX, while Linux users is referred to using a text editor and manually change the configuration files, for example to specify the music folder. A limited web UI is still there. It's reduced to the settings for the tweakers. But it's using a different http port (3546). -- Michael ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I was wrong about the text file configuration, there is a web interface for configuration, they had just changed port and I didn't know which one to use on Linux. On Windows or OSX this won't happen since the installation program will ensure that the user doesn't have to know the port number. erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96439 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
