Re: [slim] ANN: Orange Squeeze 1.3.0 released!
What's next? In all likelihood, a few bug fix releases. I hope not emergency ones, but this is the first time a lot of people will be using 1.3.0. We will try to keep the preview builds up-to-date at the same time. db122's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4076 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97467 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

fphredd wrote: So, I should go back to using the 'orginal' orange squeeze that I purchased instead of the beta version? Great question -- you can do whatever you like. If you want to take a break from having both installed, feel free to do so and stick with the non-preview release. For at least a few weeks, the releases will be pretty much functionally identical. The preview release *may* get non-critical bug fixes a bit earlier. db122's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4076 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97467 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Just saying, a raspberrypi (3 Watts) running squeezeplug works great if you don't mind HDMI out. Silent, cheap, low-power - does it all. Re: [slim] Better hurry, Squeezeboxes getting more expensive
Transporter SE is selling for $999 direct from Logitech and Radios for $119 (was $99 last week). I've been following SB prices on ebay and they've been trending lower the last month or so. Anyone paying more than MSRP for a squeezebox product is donating money to a seller. I have a feeling I'll be able to get BNIB or close to new SBT's for $200 or so in the next month or so. I think usb to an async dac is probably better - I believe its only recent versions of HDMI which have supported the HDMI device controlling the playback clock. The pi works well with usb 2 devices, but has problems with usb 1/1.1 devices. However if the HDMI works for you then its a good solution.. Re: [slim] Good Squeezebox alternative?
Thanks Triode. Good suggestion. I already have a Behringer UAC202 which I use for digitising vinyl. That has an passthrough Optical out as well as Analogue and should work with a Pi as a USB sound card without any additional drivers I imagine. I like my main Living Room player (SB3) connected both digitally and analogue to benefit from Onkyo's Zone 2 output which I fire at a headphone amp. A Pi DAC could ultimately replace that. A Pi is definitely food for thought (excuse the pun). d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91090 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I was watching amazon prices over month now... Got one for £197 probably 2 weeks before yours price... and then recently decided I want another one.. and actually had to go Amazon.de (£201) because .uk had them already for £269...day later even on amazon.de Touch was for £230 ish btw previous winter I got one for £219 You can get some 'sealed box' 2nd hand from ebay.. but Logitech warranty is not transferable apparenty... I don't believe anyone's paying those prices. I've been following squeezeboxes on eBay for years and there have ALWAYS been sellers asking those kinds of prices. Always. Right alongside the sanely-priced ones. I guess they figure they've only got to sell one or two. azinck3's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3967 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97469 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Better hurry, Squeezeboxes getting more expensive
I know I was lucky. Had been watching the prices. I didn't really need it having 2xSB3 and a Boom but I thought I had better get one at that price as a sort of spare. That said I am also looking for an excuse to get a Raspberry Pi and shove Squeezeplug onto it as a secondary spare :) d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97469 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

For commodities like those you don't need to excel. Being average still sells millions of units per year. So what's your point -- that they should have stayed with the products they don't understand? Re: [slim] No competition for Sonos! :-(
Having owned SB for about 4yrs now work colleagues have been asking me for advice on streaming products. Of course I recommend SB but with no support and no future products I have to redirect them to Sonos, the products look iCool, simple to set up etc, i've never really looked into them before but fear I may have to soon as technology advances, eg Google Music etc, if Logitech could spend a little more effort, an app to access Google Music be amazing. The Sonos Bridge too, why did Logitech not think of that, even if they don't use there own wireless network as Sonos does, a little Logitech box containing Squeezebox Server allowing access to any NAS devices would have solved lots of headaches! I'm keeping my SB for as long as I can, for one I like an LCD display showing what's playing! dave77's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=26269 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97440 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Slim device not connected to squeezebox network
Hello all, Sorry if is is double post as I've tried but can't find anything. I have 2 SB touches, 2 duets, 1 radio and 1 boom on my network all controlled by my smartphone. I just purchased a squeezebox slimdevice and cannot connect it to my network so that I can control it with my smartphone. The are all plugged into an Ethernet cable. I've done the factoy reset on my slimdevices and when I sign to mysqueezebox on the slimdevices, it pulls up all my pandora presets but I'm not able to recognize it with my smartphone so that I can control it. Funny it doesn't ask me for my squeezebox password. It just recognizes my network when I plug it into the Ethernet port. I just want to add this device as a source point for my whole house audio and want to be able to control it with my smartphone.
