Re: [slim] Squeezebox Server with Squeezeslave to turn on speakers when playing
Hi, indeed, the python script is indentation-sensitive. For me, the script works the way I copied it here on the forum.. But i'm aware that maybe the lay-out is not that good.. I'll add my script here in attachment.. 14774 I now did the indentation with WING-IDE and it looks correct.. Hope it works now! :-) To Julf: I think you are more experienced with Python than I am, is there a way to make the script use less resources? (now it uses between 3-6% CPU (of a total of 850 Mhz) of the raspberry pi and 1.5% of memory (of a total of 512MB).. Or are there things in the script that are not done? Thanks in advance! RobbeD wrote: is there a way to make the script use less resources? Only had a quick look, but it is a busy loop that gets executed once per second. I would look at something like the xPL plugin or something else that can actively send you a message when the player gets activated. That is, if running local LMS, and connecting to ickStream, will things work for old players. garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98467 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

toby10 wrote: Are you referring only to older models connecting directly ick? IOW: Older models connected to LMS (PC/Mac/NAS/Touch-TinyLMS) will work fine as long as LMS is connecting to ick? Thanks :) The general idea for older models would be to proxy them through LMS. We haven't implemented such proxy yet, the Touch/Radio is connected directly to ickStream since we can install third party applets on Touch/Radio and having a direct connection is preferred for users who only listen to online music and internet radio. We understand people want support for older models, so it's definitely something we would love to offer, it's just that with limited development resources and limited budget we need to prioritize. I wouldn't rule out that it will still available at the initial launch, there are competent developers invited to the beta program and possibly some of them might be interested in doing something. There is also the Community Squeeze hardware project which potentially can result in that a lot of people in this community decides to replace their older Squeezeboxes with new Community Squeeze hardware, which hopefully can support installation of third party applets. erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98467 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Pre-Announcement: ickStream Music Platform
Are there any Deezer lovers with an iOS device who are interested in doing some beta testing on ickStream ? I'm asking because Deezer is one service we are doing some prototyping towards and we currently need one or two people who can help us with some feedback regarding the integration from a user perspective. To be able to help us you need time, a Deezer Premium+ subscription and an iOS device using iOS 5 or later, if you also have an Android device using Android 2.3 or later that's an extra plus. If you think this matches you, please send me a PM and: - Describe which Android/iOS/Squeezebox devices you have - Which operating system you are using LMS on (if you are using LMS) - Which other online services you use except for Deezer - In case you aren't sure if I know you as a LMS/Squeezebox beta tester previously, describe a bit about yourself - Mention anything else you feel is relevant erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98467 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Pre-Announcement: ickStream Music Platform
garym wrote: I'm assuming ickstream has to be for pay for *everything*. In my opinion you should not assume things like this at this stage, what we have said is that the company and platform as a whole will be commercial, not necessarily all parts of the software. It's generally not unusual to let one part of a business cover the costs of another part depending on where it's easiest to get people to pay. I'm not promising anything, I'm just saying that you shouldn't assume that you have to pay for all parts, but you are correct that each user will likely have to directly or indirectly pay for some parts of the system. garym wrote: And I'm willing to pay for what I think this service will be. Thanks for the confirmation :-) The reason ickStream as a whole is commercial is because we want to ensure long term survival and also ensure we will be able to spend the necessary resources to enhance and develop the platform over time and sign the necessary agreements with streaming providers, this would be hard to guarantee on longer terms if we only relied on our own available spare time to maintain and support the platform. If people are assuming it's commercial for our personal gain, they couldn't be more wrong, it commercial because we believe it's the only way to make the platform what we want it to be. Also, combining this with third party developers willing to spend their spare time to implement extra features and offer them as free or commercial add-ons is a great way to be able to support more advanced users like many people in this community. We have seen what a combined environment with both commercial and non commercial interests can accomplish on the Squeezebox and we want to accomplish a similar community feeling with ickStream. This extensibility together with documented API's is what's making ickStream an open platform compared to Sonos and other similar closed platforms who relies on the manufacturer doing all the work. If we can't prioritize something ourselves, there is always going to be an opening for a third party developer to provide it for free or as a commercial add-on. erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98467 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
