Re: [slim] Multichannel on future Squeezebox development?
I know -- like anyone else frequenting these forums -- that Logitech stopped producing the Squeezebox line. I'm referring to developments such as Community Squeeze, players like SqueezeLite, and the like. the nightfly's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=42075 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100250 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: SqueezePlug on Piwhat am I doing wrong?
the nightfly wrote: THE BAD: While the server seems to be running fine, the player is the exact opposite. Using the headphone jack (along with good headphones) for audio is a painful experience, the music stuttering and distorted. It almost seems like the Pi is putting out a prodigious amount of RF noise, every bit of which is interfering with the audio. It's absolutely unlistenable, whether playing music on the Pi's internal LMS, or a a server on my NAS. I've only ever used the Pi as a player, not a server. What I can confirm is that the quality of the built-in audio output is pretty poor. Distortion and noise are unacceptable. I use mine with a Muse PCM2704 USB-to-SPDIF converter feeding an old QED Digit DAC, and it works fine that way. You mention stuttering as well as distortion. If it is genuinely dropping samples then perhaps it's simply a case of the Pi running out of steam when you try to run LMS and Squeezelite together? The Pi is a very low power device, after all. One way to check this would be to try shutting down LMS on the Pi and trying it as just a Squeezelite player from another LMS on your network. Re: [slim] Logitech Media Server 7.7.3 released
I installed beta 7.8 and it works ! Thanks a lot, it was a bit of a nightmare to make it work since the change of my distrib to perl 5.16, so all much better. Also, I'm using musicIp too with LMS, and that's very great, I wouldn't change for anything in the world. Another question : everything looks fine but when I query for the service status I have this memory alloc error message : Code: # service squeezeboxserver status squeezeboxserver.service - LSB: Startup script for the Logitech Media Server Loaded: loaded (/etc/rc.d/init.d/squeezeboxserver) Active: active (exited) since Mon, 2013-10-28 10:30:33 CET; 8min ago Process: 2698 ExecStart=/etc/rc.d/init.d/squeezeboxserver start (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) CGroup: name=systemd:/system/squeezeboxserver.service Oct 28 10:30:32 barbatruc systemd[1]: Starting LSB: Startup script for the Logitech Media Server... [slim] Raspberry Pi vs Wandboard: sound quality?
I recently set up a Pi with PiCoPlayer and a USB DAC. The sound quality does not seem to compare to what I used to get out of my Squeezebox Touch into the same DAC (although via coax instead of USB) using the same audio files. Does CommunitySqueeze/Wandboard produce comparable sound? It's possible this is related to my DAC (Emotiva XDA-2) but I'm not looking to change that at this time. jtk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=61737 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100253 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] ANN: Orange Squeeze 1.3.0 released!
I've been using the Preview on my Android phone and never came across the cover art browser. I assume that the app looks at the device and limits it to tablets only. Can anyone confirm this or perhaps I have a different issue. The strange thing is that I also use BlueStacks on my Windows tablet with the app setting to Tablet, and still don't see this option. Has anyone tried the Preview using BlueStacks and has gotten the cover art browser option? I was reading about that box today. Can't believe that for £150+ it doesn't have any kind of digital out or USB DAC support. Yet in the specs it talks about HD audio! Re: [slim] ANN: Orange Squeeze 1.3.0 released!
I think that is the case. I use Orange Squeeze Preview on both my phone (Galaxy Nexus) and my 7 tablet (Nexus 7). On the tablet I get a 3x3 grid of albums when I choose My Music/Albums. However on the phone it is single column with thumbnails of albums on the left and the album title and artist to the right.
