Re: [slim] Improving Wireless Strength on the Squeezebox

2017-08-07 Thread Mnyb

On the original topic .

30-50% wifi strength is not good enough it's till marginal close to 100%
is reliable .

LMS does not measure this in a good way I would say 50% is not good .

Bite the bullet and pull some Ethernet wires through the house .

On that other topic, no network topology does not make any difference on
a squeezebox as long as the player buffer is full .

http://archimago.blogspot.se/2015/02/measurements-intercontinental-internet.html

Archie made some measurements using my old server , when it worked
transfer music from Sweden to Canada to his Transporter did not cause
any problem that's just how it works .

"Expectation bias" is much more subtle and pervasive than you're giving
it credit. If you're interested in understanding it better, I suggest
you start with the link I provided.

Or not. I have no problem with you believing that a change of network
card has caused your Squeezeboxes to sound better. My problem is with
you recommending that others follow your lead for a "cheapish upgrade to
your system to improve your sound quality". There is absolutely no
reason to expect a change from 2.4G to 5G on any component in your
network will give the results you claim.

[slim] Global Search

2017-08-07 Thread phresh

Hi, first post here but i've been using squeezeboxes (and this forum)
for -years-.

I'm not sure if this is an issue or not but I don't seem to be able to
get 'Global Search' to work at all, assuming it properly exists as
searching doesn't throw up anything conclusive. To make sure I wasn't
using conflicting plugins I did a fresh install of 7.9.1 with only the
Spotty plugin. With this the global search doesn't return any spotify
results (I had the same behaviour previously with the Triode plugin).

I could be completely missing something here, either something obvious
or with the way the search works.

I've tested this in both the web interface and with iPeng9 (using both
normal search and the search hidden away in 'Extras'. The logs don't
throw up anything immediately obvious either.

Any advice appreciated!

ok so the problem was that I had a small speaker connected to one of the
4 USB port..drawing enough power to not being able to light on the USB
thumb..
Like I said why don't I see the light of the USB drive
After removing it, it was fine

so now I have mounted it, added something on the music folder I created,
but I cannot see the song in LMS player nor in squeezer...

23357

I did reboot everything
what's wrong with me
where should that music be in LMS anyway?
