Re: [slim] Can't connect to the SBS
toby10;607054 Wrote: Yes. Your SB player is requesting an IP from the router, the router assigns IP's via DHCP. Now you need to enter the router settings to see why DHCP is not doing it's job or if there is some other security setting preventing your player from connecting to the router. If that router is part of your ISP subscription I'd contact them to walk you through router settings and troubleshooting to connect your player. The last time I spoke with my ISP about the problem I had connecting my player to the SBS they reset my network name and the WEP password. However unbeknown to me they changed the WEP password from the default 128 bit to a 64 bit encryption password and every time thereafter I was trying to connect with the SBS using 128 bit encryption and of consequently I couldn't get an IP address. The problem was with the encryption. Finally got my player connected to the SBS using the 64 bit encryption. One last question. Is there an advantage or disadvantage using 64 bit over 128 bit encryption with the SB player? -- Gatineau Ross Gatineau Ross's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40346 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85203 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I'm not sure what you mean by your question, can I enter the router's admin functions? I believe I can make changes to how the network/modem/router functions, if that is what you are asking me. -- Gatineau Ross Gatineau Ross's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40346 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85203 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

On a PC hit Start All Programs SqueezeBox Server Uninstall Now go to http://mysqueezebox.com/download and download the correct SBS version for your computer. Run the SBS .exe program, let it completely install (may take a few minutes). Now try to connect. The sad news is that we had no music last nite, the great news, SBS is now running, but, my player can't connect. It won't complete the setup. It stops at, Couldn't find DHCP server. I'll bet there are some failed remarks in there. My SBS IP address is displayed in Diagnostics and all the Ports show OK. Hey Toby, I went through the complete network reboot. I still can't connect to the server. I'm sure the problem occurred when my system was going through the automatic update for 7.5.3, I clicked on the dialog box and it was like the update froze so I canceled it. That is when all my problems started. I've never had such a challenging problem like this in the 3 years I've owned my SB3. Also my browser (Firefox) gives me the following error message when it tries to load the interface, Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1:9000. toby10;606523 Wrote: Try the network reboot suggested in your other thread. Also try stopping then restarting SBS server. If no luck then you can always switch the SB3 to MySB.com online for internet radio music services for your gathering. Is your router handling DHCP? Maybe your router is failing? Dunno. I tried the rebooting suggestion that didn't work. I don't know how to stop and then restart the SBS server. But I can't connect to the server so I don't understand how I could even stop it to re-start it. I don't believe anything on my router has changed. I contacted my ISP today to investigate my modem/wireless router and it got a clean bill of health. I even disabled my firwewall, but this hasn't helped. I'm not interested in internet radio I just want to be able to access the music on my computer. [slim] Squeezebox Server v7.5.3 Update error message
Howdy Gentlemen, Squeezebox Server version 7.5.3 won't update on my Windows 7 operating system and as a result I don't have access to the web based interface to control my SB3. I get the following error message. C:\Program Files\Squeezebox\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\mysqld.exe An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file: Delete File failed; code 5. Perhaps I'll re-phrase/simplify my question on the SBS equivalent. I was getting too confused with the responses, front-end, back-end, etc. What do members recommend I purchase to be able to watch video (i.e. TV shows or movies) from my local library using my TV? On the other hand, (b) seems to be mostly the domain of MythTV, Windows Media Center, Apple TV, and a few others. Thanks for your replies. Since I believe there are still issues with streaming quality, I'm really only interested in (b) streaming from a local library of video content. Thanks for the recommendations for (b) MythTV, Windows Media, Apple TV. Is anyone familiar with PopBox? I understand it is reasonably priced.
