I'm trying to figure out what might account for the lag time between the
boom output and the speakers wired to the receiver. It creates and echo
effect that is slightly annoying. Previous to using a receiver there
was no lag when syncing various squeezeboxen.

And thank you pippin for all of the advice help you have provided for so
many of us in this forum over the years (Vielen dank!).

[slim] suddenly no sync

2017-02-15 Thread HeavyB

After using powered speakers for years I recently set up a system using
a receiver (Yamaha RX-V379BL) but seem to have lost the ability to sync
between a Classic and a Boom (in an adjacent room). Its not critical as
I also have new speakers that can fill up the entire space but it would
be nice to know that it is still possible to sync as I have another
Classic upstairs. I've tried all the usual tricks that I am aware of in
order to get rid of the half-second (or a little less) lag but nothing
works. Any general thoughts would be much appreciated . . .

 Thanks for responding.

Assuming you are running LMS on a PC: one solution is to turn you
squeezeboxen (that is your player or players) to mysqueezebox.com before
turning them off. Then when you turn them on again they will connected
to it. You will still have to turn on your computer to access your
music folder but this solution will prevent you from having to go
through the set up process every time. The other solution is to make
sure your PC (and thereby LMS) is turned on before you turn on your
squeezebox(en).

I can now enjoy a boom outside, 50 ft. away from the router, and through

[slim] BOOM to Spain

2011-03-23 Thread HeavyB

U.S. resident is going to be in Spain (in one location) for a little
over a month and would like to take one of my Booms along to keep me
company. I hope to be able to use the local wireless network but will
bring cable for ethernet in case network setup is dicey.

I see that logitech offers an adapter but there is no image and it is a
little unclear exactly what is meant by power plate kit (sold
separately).

http://buy.logitech.com/store?Action=DisplayPageEnv=BASELocale=en_USSiteID=logib2cid=ShoppingCartPage)

I am also considering one of these devices as well.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000784H4K/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8m=A1SJV7Q7GQM4PE

Any tips, advice, experiences would be most welcome.

[slim] turn me on!

2010-01-25 Thread HeavyB

Hello,

My SB3 will sometimes turn itself on when I log out of my server
including when the device and/or the web interface are not used. It
only occurs 1 time in 10 or so but can still be a bit annoying. This
has happened on my former and current set-up (both PC/Windows7) and with
various versions of SBS. Any ideas on why might account for this? BTW,
no such phenomenon with my Boom.

[slim] 2nd Chance

2008-02-05 Thread HeavyB

Set to receive a new Squeezebox today. 1st unit shared (had) the same
MAC address as another and that was resulting in some problems (see
below). Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not I should
uninstall my existing software and then reinstall upon reciept of the
new device or does it matter? What is the best way to proceed?

Thanks much.
__
I seem to have a problem or rather a lack of some basic comprehension
as to how my Squeezebox et.al. should be configured/set up. I have
muddled through and figured out how to get everything to work
(Squeezebox plays my music library on my stereo and I can switch it to
Squeeze Network and listen to radio streaming like the BBC World
Service feed, as I am doing now and I can access the music library on
my PC via Softsqueeze) but only if I am careful.

A problem arises though if the last thing that I had listened to/used
on the Squeezebox was SlimServer. In this scenario, I turn off the
Squeezebox - and at some point also turn 'off' my PC (sleep or
hibernate or whatever). Later in the day, I turn Squeezebox on to
listen to the radio via Squeeze Network without turning on my PC.
Squeezebox attempts to connect but in that the last thing I had been
using was the aforementioned SlimServer, Squeezebox attempts to connect
to it but cannot and it proceeds into set-up and eventually resets (in
Dutch I might add) itself. I know how to prevent this from happening,
just by making sure the last thing that I tuned in on Squeezebox was
Squeeze Network or to always have my PC turned on, but this can't
possibly be the correct set up, can it?

I suspect the problem is related to the fact that 2 players are
recognized. One (xxx.x.x.x:x) when Squeezebox is off and another
(xxx.xxx.x.x:x) when Squeezebox is on. Is it just a matter of
asking SlimServer to forget about the 127... player (presumably my
PC?) ? I am leery of asking it to do so without asking here first.

Your help is very much appreciated.

Re: [slim] Boxed in

2008-01-16 Thread HeavyB

I appreciate the reply but I don't have any problems connecting to
Squeeze Network, that is as long as it was connected the last time I
turned Squeezebox off. The problem (if it is one?) arises when I am
listening to my music library via SlimServer and I turn off the
Squeezebox and also shut down or put my PC to sleep. If I then try to
access Squeeze Network via the Squeezebox (without my PC running) it
automatically goes into a reset whereby I lose my presets, favoties,
language, date-time format etc.). I can get around the problem by
eitehr
a.) just making sure to tune Squeezebox into Squeeze Network before
turning Squeezebox off OR
b.) making sure my PC is running before turning Squeezebox on

But, since Squeeze Network is supposed to be an always-on service, it
seems to me as though something is amiss somewhere and that it is
something basic with how I am connected.
