No smoke or sparks and I did not investigate further... The case on this model (SB3 with Slim Devices on the metal face) has no ventilation at all. Has this ever been an issue (overheating)? In answer to the previous question regarding the type of SB3, yes, it is wireless. I was able to pick up a new still in box SB3 on eBay for $195 yesterday to replace this one, but they are sure becoming hard to find. Can't tie the failure to an event because it was working when I left for work and dead when I got home. Power supply is good, but I get nothing from my Squeezebox Classic when connected. Absolutely nothing... No display flicker at all... Dead, dead, dead... No event to tie this to, so my question is: What could be wrong? I suspect something internal gave up the ghost, but if I crack it open, is there really anything serviceable inside that could be related to a complete and sudden failure? Ah, good point... If I understand your intent, this would rule in or out a display failure. If, while plugged into the power supply, I am able to access the SB3 from the web UI (SBS), then the SB3 is powered on, but the display has failed, correct? I will try this when I get home... By pressing play while All Songs is showing on the SB3 display, all songs, do indeed, play. In my defense, this is somewhat inconsistent from a UI standpoint. When scrolling from Music Library to Artist to Album to the first song in the album list before pressing play does NOT simply play the first song, but rather the whole album. Why make the behavior different in the All Songs function? I can scroll through the playlist and it shows the additional songs from the chosen artist on the SB3, but will only play the first one. If, however, I pull up SqueezeCenter and check the playlist for the SB3, it only shows the first song in the playlist (without any of the additional songs. If I populate the playlist for the SB3 in SqueezeCenter using the all songs button, the playlist populates correctly and plays on the SB3 correctly. The major downside to this is that I have 2 SB3s on the top floor of my home and the PC housing my media and running SC is in the basement. Why won't choosing the All Songs option from the SB3 populate the playlist correctly in SC? This has been an ongoing glitch since I first purchased my SB3. None of the SlimServer / SqueezeCenter upgrades have fixed it, nor has reading the manual. What would cause only the first song to play when choosing All Songs from the album list within any artist? I can scroll through the list of songs and they are all there, but when I hit play I either get the first song repeated indefinitely (if repeating the playlist) or it plays the first song and stops (if not repeating the playlist). [slim] SB3 (x2) Extremely unstable with SC 7.2
Recently upgraded to SC 7.2 and now my 2 SB3s are just about worthless... Constantly freezing up, disconnecting from wireless, and plain shutting down. When they actually stay on, the menus are very unresponsive and frequently lock up. Running Windows XP Pro SP3, IE 7, and a Linksys G Wireless Router. Everything was peachy prior to upgrade to 7.2.
