[slim] Squeezebox for sale
I recently bought a new house and I had a multi-room audio system installed making my beloved Squeezebox redundant. It looks and works perfectly, I've loved it. It's the model just before the current one (which I liked better because it's slimmer). It has the upgraded graphic display and has 802.11 wireless networking and original remote. I'm going to do a mini-bid on it here, starting at $150, highest bidder on midnight New Years Eve (Eastern Time Zone) gets it, I'll even pay standard postal shipping and insurance for anywhere in the continental US to keep this simple. I'll take paypal, bank check or personal check (if you don't mind waiting for it to clear) If you have any questions, please post them here. -- Lumsmore Lumsmore's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1743 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30889 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

On the bottom of the unit it is a Squeezebox2 S/N:237661A I may have been confused on the SB lineage. I hope that helps. Works like a charm. The only thing I needed to do was set the rescan interval to 0 and enable nightly rescanning. -- Lumsmore Lumsmore's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1743 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=16889 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: iTunes tip
At least I *think* I might be creating the play lists acidentally. My understanding is that while in Play Now mode, if I hit the 'right' arrow it creates/adds to a playlist, but becuase the remote often uses the right arrow as a sort of 'Enter' key, I absent mistakenly do this. So disabling or assigning to a different key would be great. I LOVE being able to rate my music as I listen, however. That is an awsome feature. -- Lumsmore Lumsmore's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1743 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=17788 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: iTunes tip
I went back and reread the readme, and sure enought this tip is in there, although it's not super clear for someone (me) who is new to all this. At the time I just trying to make sure I was doing everything right to get it to install properly! Maybe put a suggestion in the readme for a value to change the interval time to (again, at the time I had no idea what the 'interval time' setting did, so I was pretty hesitant to change it). I've found that it's easy to unintentionally create a new iTunes playlist. Is there a way to turn off just this feature? Otherwise, I have to say that your plug-in is THE reason I purchased a slimserver. Nice work. -- Lumsmore ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] iTunes tip
I've been having some issues using my new SB2 with iTunes. The symptoms were slow menu responses, occasional pauses every 3 seconds in the middle of songs, CPU pegging at 90-100% and long delays when I press play on the remote and when the music would start playing. It turns out that it was the combination of using both the iTunes and iTunes Update add-in with Smart Playlists. With this setup, the defaults will reload the entire iTunes library (and I've got about 3000 songs) whenever the library changes, which is, when you've got smart playlists that remove songs once you listened to them, the library was reloading after every song. To fix this (at least I think it has, more time will tell), I've change the iTunes reload interval under server settings from the default of 30 to 3600 seconds. This means that the library will not reload more than once an hour. -- Lumsmore ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] CPU utilization hitting 100%
I've got a new setup, about 4 days now, with the latest wireless SB2, slim.exe running in startup (not service) on Dell w/512Meg, lots of diskspace available and the iTunes updater plugin. It all runs awsome, no pauses in the music, sounds great. The only thing that is odd is that every couple minutes the CPU maxes out from slim.exe, making using the PC a bit rough. Any thoughts of what's happening, what to look for? thanks, -S -- Lumsmore ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Support for iTunes Smart playlists?
For some reason after I rebooted after my initial install of SlimServer, the SlimServer wouldn't startup. So I reinstalled, and voila! all my playlists showed up. Now getting back to how smart play lists (SPL) are... There are two things that make SPLs smart: 1. They dynamically update themselves with tunes that match the criteria set within them as new music is added. Genre=rock will always contain every song with genre=rock. I'm guessing SS has no problem with this as iTunes is providing the list of songs to play. 2. The second is that iTune SPL can track when songs are played so you can specify in an SPL to only play songs that have not been played in the last 2 weeks. For me, this is where I'm wondering if the iTunes SPL can detect that SS has played a particular song to update the SPL. -- Lumsmore ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Re: Support for iTunes Smart playlists?
smart or not, I just installed SlimServer, which is running, and when I click on 'playlists' in the browser interface, I don't see any playlists. I checked the server settings to be sure the iTune .XML field was pointing to the itunes.xlm files (it is). I also tried the 'rescan' setting, which did nothing. [slim] Support for iTunes Smart playlists?
Here is what it says on thier website... iTunes (Mac or Windows)—Use iTunes to add and manage music files and your library automatically available to SlimServer—no more rescan! SlimServer also streams iTunes' powerful Smart Playlists. Does this really work? How does it work? Do I need to export my playlists/music library/etc? I'm looking for a solution where I only need to use iTunes to manage my music library. Most of the other technology (Creative Labs, Squeezbox, etc) require managing MP3 library in their tool. Thanks. -- Lumsmore ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
