For anyone considering cloud backup, I'm very happy with crashplan.com. It's about $60 per year for unlimited storage. At the present time, there is a Wandboard image. It is the only released image. But I also run CSOS on the Beaglebone. Castalla runs a Fedora 18 derivative on the Cubieboard. So I believe there are several boards we could support, if we have the time and resources to do so. The Wandboard seems like overkill for those of us not wanting to run LMS on the player. Interesting. I'm not a UI designer, but as a user I disagree. It's all in my head, but there's just something that seems less intrusive about swiping to the left or right side of a larger virtual screen when compared to the alternative of moving up or down a level of hierarchy. Probably just me. Why is that? Because all this testing is with users who are new to an application and hence had no time to learn a usage scheme or get used to it. So they prefer what they immediately understand. It's the same if you look at what people who decide after trying Apps base their decision on. So I imagine that the Logitech app will feel quite natural to someone who uses (and likes) the SP interface but has little general android experience. On the other hand, the experienced android user will find it just weird that, for example, some screens have a back button on the screen in addition to the native one on the device. -- Mark Miksis Mark Miksis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=529 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86487 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Android Controller App
Hmm, not sure what to think compared to squeezecommander. It'll take some time to get used to it. Some first impressions: - squeezecommander is faster. - I like the ability to tap the player name and get a player selector screen. But I prefer the way that squeezecommander shows you sync groups from it's player list. - The landscape tablet split screen seems to work intermittently. Does this require a minimum Android version? I'm testing on a 7 tablet running CM7 (gingerbread). I've gotten really used to swipe-left and right for players and playlist screens on squeezecommander and really miss those shortcuts. -- Mark Miksis Mark Miksis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=529 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86487 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android
It doesn't do the side-by-side landscape display, which is the probably the only advantage I've seen so far in the Logitech app. -- Mark Miksis Mark Miksis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=529 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69352 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

And is there any user control over scaling, or is it fixed according to the screen dimensions? AFAICT it's just larger on a larger screen with no user control. On my 7 tablet it looks pretty good, but might not be so great on 10. Flatterman has said he plans to release a tablet version in the future. -- Mark Miksis Mark Miksis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=529 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69352 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Great screen. BT has crappy range and HW video decoding is still being fixed so it's not a great movie watching device yet. Otherwise it works well as an android tablet. I like Gingerbread on this size device and have some questions in my mind about whether Honeycomb will be better or not. Let me know if you have specific questions. -- Mark Miksis Mark Miksis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=529 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86487 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
